Delhi: Man shoots at rickshaw driver for brushing against his car, arrested
A 46-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly shooting at and injuring a man, who was riding a cycle rickshaw, for brushing against his car in North East Delhi.
Police said the victim, Vinay (30), was riding his rickshaw early Monday when he brushed against a black Thar. The incident occurred while Vinay was taking a U-turn near Gagan Cinema in Nand Nagri.
The Thar's driver, later identified as Sameer Sharma – a resident of Madhuban in Nirman Vihar – allegedly rolled down his window and shot at Vinay before fleeing. Vinay was rushed to the Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital for treatment.
At the hospital, police were notified of the incident.
A woman, who was Sameer Sharma's co-passenger at the time of the incident, was apprehended by the police for questioning.
'The weapon of offence, a pistol, and the black Thar car were seized. Further investigation to uncover the sequence of events and the motive behind the shooting is ongoing,' said DCP (North East) Ashish Mishra.
