Everything to know about the Google Pixel 10 series ahead of its August 2025 launch
Improved cameras with software-driven enhancements While a large chunk of the Google Pixel 10's shooting capabilities reside in the phone's software, there will be a few changes to camera hardware. The Pixel 10 will have an 11MP zoom lens which is a first for the standard model. The main shooter will have a 50MP Samsung GN8 sensor and the ultra-wide camera will use a 13MP Sony IMX712 sensor. By combining the images from ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, the Pixel 10 will have improved macro photography shooting capability. Beyond hardware improvements, the Google Pixel 10 will offer advanced computational photography with enhanced low-light performance, macro and zoom capabilities. AI-powered image processing will utilise more sophisticated image processing algorithms for automatic photo enhancement with the correct levels of exposure, colors and contrast. The Pixel 10 will also take advantage of post-processing features such as Autoframe, Zoom Enhance, Reimagine and Add Me. The Google Pixel 10 series phones will mostly retain the screen sizes of the standard and larger-sized Pixel phones of the previous generation. For the standard model, the new Pixel phone will have a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Google is introducing a higher full-screen peak brightness for the new phones. The Pixel 10 phones will have an HDR brightness of 2000 and 2250 nits for the standard and Pro/XL models. The screens of the new phones will also be designed to reduce eyestrain for more sensitive users. Next-gen processing power with Tensor G5 Above Google Pixel phones are set to reimagine Android with Gemini AI (Photo: Google) Under the hood, the Google Pixel 10 series will debut the all-new Tensor G5 chip, built on a 3-nanometre process by TSMC, the same chipmaker behind Apple and MediaTek's latest processors. This marks a shift away from Samsung, which previously manufactured Google's Tensor chips. The G5 is expected to deliver faster performance, better thermal efficiency and significantly improved AI processing. This opens the door for more advanced applications in gaming, video editing and generative AI features such as voice-enabled photo editing and AI-assisted video creation. AI integration and new Android 16 design Above Introducing: Material 3 Expressive All Google Pixel 10 models will come equipped with 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Battery life sees a boost too, with a 5,000mAh capacity, 29W wired fast charging, and Qi2-compatible 15W wireless charging. Google is also integrating Gemini Nano, its on-device AI model, to handle contextual tasks such as real-time suggestions, smart replies and in-app assistance. These will run seamlessly with the upcoming Android 16, which debuts a new visual update called Material 3 Expressive—a more fluid and dynamic design language featuring personalised themes and animations. Despite only subtle design changes, the Pixel 10 series reaffirms Google's strength: the deep integration of software and hardware. With advanced AI capabilities, a next-gen processor and smarter imaging, the Pixel 10 is set to push the Android experience forward—again.

Google Pixel 10 series to launch with a new camera twist
Google is preparing to launch its next flagship smartphone series, the Pixel 10, in August 2025, aiming to compete with Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 models. The new lineup will include four variants: Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These smartphones are reported to come with several advanced features and upgrades. Among these improvements, Google plans to enhance macro photography by using the telephoto camera, a shift from the current reliance on the ultrawide lens for close-up shots. Currently, Google Pixel phones rely on their ultrawide camera to capture macro photos, using auto-focus adjustments to get close-up shots. This approach generally produces decent results. However, with the Pixel 10, Google plans to expand this capability by incorporating the telephoto lens. According to reports, the telephoto lens will handle macro shots up to a certain distance, after which the ultrawide lens will take over to focus on subjects even closer to the camera. It remains unclear whether all models in the Pixel 10 series will support this shift, but more details will emerge once the devices are launched. The Google Pixel 10 series is expected to be officially announced on August 20, with pre-orders starting the same day. Shipments may begin by August 28. Pricing information has not been confirmed yet, but the Pixel 10's base model could be priced near the Pixel 9's launch price of $799 in the United States. In India, the starting price may be around ₹79,999, though final pricing will depend on taxes and import duties. For optics, the device is rumoured to feature a 50MP Samsung GN8 sensor for its main camera, the same sensor used in the Pixel 9a. It may also include a 13MP ultrawide Sony IMX712 sensor and a 10.8MP telephoto lens from Samsung. The front camera could use the 10.8MP sensor as well. Furthermore, Google may add improved video stabilisation to enhance handheld recording quality. Pixel 10 camera: All expected changes
The Google Pixel 10 series is expected to bring a meaningful camera update in 2025, especially for the base model. While the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are likely to build on their already powerful camera systems, the standard Pixel 10 may finally join the flagship models with a triple-camera setup of its own. That could signal a big step forward in imaging versatility for Google's core Pixel everything we know so far about the cameras on the Pixel 10 series. The Pixel 10 is reportedly getting a third rear camera: a telephoto snapper, which would be a first for a standard Pixel model. This new zoom camera is expected to come with an 11 MP Samsung 3J1 sensor, which is the same one found on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. To accommodate the new zoom camera, however, Google may be making compromises in other areas of the phone. The Pixel 10 's main camera will reportedly use a Samsung GN8 sensor, which is physically smaller than the GNV used in the Pixel 9. Likewise, the ultra-wide camera is said to switch to a 13 MP Sony IMX712 sensor, replacing the more capable IMX858 from the previous summary, here's the expected camera system of the Pixel 10 : Main : 50MP Samsung GN8 : 50MP Samsung GN8 Ultra-wide : 13MP Sony IMX712 : 13MP Sony IMX712 Telephoto : 11MP Samsung 3J1 Google's software magic, however, may help cover up the supposed downgrade in hardware. Thanks to the new Tensor G5 chip (the fist one fully designed by Google itself), the Pixel 10 is also expected to introduce advanced AI-powered camera features, including: Video Generative ML for smarter video edits for smarter video edits Speak-to-Tweak for quick voice-controlled photo adjustments for quick voice-controlled photo adjustments Sketch-to-Image to turn rough drawings into shareable images The Tensor G5 may also support 4K 60fps HDR video —a welcome bump from the previous 4K 30fps limit. While the base Pixel 10 is getting a new zoom camera, the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL are expected to keep the same triple-camera layout as their predecessors. These include: Main : 50 MP Samsung GNV : 50 MP Samsung GNV Ultra-wide : 48 MP Sony IMX858 : 48 MP Sony IMX858 Telephoto : 48 MP Sony IMX858 with 5x optical zoom The Pixel 10 Pro series will continue to focus on software-based enhancements. The selfie camera, which was significantly upgraded to 42 MP in the Pixel 9 Pro, is expected to remain the same—already a standout among Android features powered by the Tensor G5 include on-device tools like "Cinematic Rendering Engine," which may enhance cinematic blur effects and allow video relighting during capture. These features could improve energy efficiency and allow more advanced effects in real-time. Some features, like "Ultra Low Light Video" (or "Night Sight video"), are expected to debut with the Pixel 11. But if we're lucky, Google may bring early versions to the Pixel 10 . If the leaks hold true, the Pixel 10 could be a big step forward in Google's non-Pro camera lineup. Even if the sensors are technically a downgrade compared to the Pixel 9 , the addition of a telephoto lens and the power of the Tensor G5 could result in an overall better score. As for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, we expect strong scores again, particularly when it comes to the photo quality. What we want to see, though, are improvements to the video quality, which is still a bit behind compared to the competition from Samsung and Apple.
