Improved cameras with software-driven enhancements
While a large chunk of the Google Pixel 10's shooting capabilities reside in the phone's software, there will be a few changes to camera hardware. The Pixel 10 will have an 11MP zoom lens which is a first for the standard model. The main shooter will have a 50MP Samsung GN8 sensor and the ultra-wide camera will use a 13MP Sony IMX712 sensor. By combining the images from ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, the Pixel 10 will have improved macro photography shooting capability.
Beyond hardware improvements, the Google Pixel 10 will offer advanced computational photography with enhanced low-light performance, macro and zoom capabilities. AI-powered image processing will utilise more sophisticated image processing algorithms for automatic photo enhancement with the correct levels of exposure, colors and contrast. The Pixel 10 will also take advantage of post-processing features such as Autoframe, Zoom Enhance, Reimagine and Add Me.
The Google Pixel 10 series phones will mostly retain the screen sizes of the standard and larger-sized Pixel phones of the previous generation. For the standard model, the new Pixel phone will have a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Google is introducing a higher full-screen peak brightness for the new phones. The Pixel 10 phones will have an HDR brightness of 2000 and 2250 nits for the standard and Pro/XL models. The screens of the new phones will also be designed to reduce eyestrain for more sensitive users. Next-gen processing power with Tensor G5

Under the hood, the Google Pixel 10 series will debut the all-new Tensor G5 chip, built on a 3-nanometre process by TSMC, the same chipmaker behind Apple and MediaTek's latest processors. This marks a shift away from Samsung, which previously manufactured Google's Tensor chips.
The G5 is expected to deliver faster performance, better thermal efficiency and significantly improved AI processing. This opens the door for more advanced applications in gaming, video editing and generative AI features such as voice-enabled photo editing and AI-assisted video creation. AI integration and new Android 16 design

All Google Pixel 10 models will come equipped with 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Battery life sees a boost too, with a 5,000mAh capacity, 29W wired fast charging, and Qi2-compatible 15W wireless charging.
Google is also integrating Gemini Nano, its on-device AI model, to handle contextual tasks such as real-time suggestions, smart replies and in-app assistance. These will run seamlessly with the upcoming Android 16, which debuts a new visual update called Material 3 Expressive—a more fluid and dynamic design language featuring personalised themes and animations.
Despite only subtle design changes, the Pixel 10 series reaffirms Google's strength: the deep integration of software and hardware. With advanced AI capabilities, a next-gen processor and smarter imaging, the Pixel 10 is set to push the Android experience forward—again.

Massive Google Cloud outage disrupts popular internet services

NEW YORK (AP) — Popular online services across the globe were disrupted Thursday due to ongoing issues at Google Cloud. Tens of thousands of users of Spotify, Discord and other platforms began noticing issues with their services early in the afternoon, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages. Outage reports for music streamer Spotify in particular, peaked around 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time before dropping off, and some users began saying their access was restored. Google's Cloud status page said an incident with their systems affected clients in the U.S. and abroad. The company also posted that services are starting to recover after its engineers identified and began to mitigate the issue. "We have identified the root cause and applied appropriate mitigations," Google Cloud said. It added that there is no estimate for when the issue would be fully resolved. Google Cloud, which hosts a significant amount of services on the internet, has become the fastest growing part of Alphabet Inc., even though the company still makes most of its money from Google's ubiquitous search engine. Google Cloud's revenue last year totaled $43.2 billion, a 31% increase from 2023. By comparison, Alphabet's overall revenue grew by 14% last year. Big Techs consider adopting stablecoins as GENIUS Act debate continues

Growing momentum for United States stablecoin regulation is reportedly pushing major tech firms like Apple, X, and Airbnb to explore digital token integration According to a June 6 report from Fortune, at least four tech companies, including Apple, X, Airbnb and Google, are exploring stablecoins as a means to lower fees and improve cross-border payments. Each company is in a different stage of implementation, with Google perhaps the farthest ahead, having facilitated two stablecoin payments already. Payment infrastructure companies are playing a role. For instance, Airbnb has been talking with Worldpay about using stablecoins, seeking to cut fees from credit card payment processors like Visa and Mastercard. Social platform X has been talking with crypto companies about integrating stablecoins into its X Money app, the report says. Elon Musk has previously stated that he wants to broaden X's reach to allow users to send and receive money. The company has already pursued money transmitter licenses across the US. A spokesperson for Google told Cointelegraph that the company is 'focused on responding to customer demand for efficient, 24/7 payments' and is 'evaluating stablecoins that allow us to provide that in a safe and sound manner.' The tech giant is also helping its customers to explore stablecoins by offering its ledger technology. Stablecoins have become one of crypto's most popular use cases. The market capitalization for such assets has risen to $249.3 billion from $131.3 billion since January 2024, a jump of 90%. Partnerships between stablecoin infrastructure and tech companies have been on the rise as well. Among the partnerships are Mastercard's alliance with MoonPay and Visa's deal with Bridge. In October 2024, Stripe announced its $1.1 billion acquisition of Bridge, which Fortune labeled the 'starting gun' for people in Silicon Valley to take stablecoin technology seriously. Paxos, a crypto company known for stablecoins, has partnered with both Stripe and PayPal to provide services. For Stripe, Paxos planned to launch a new stablecoin payments platform. Paxos is also the company supporting PayPal's PYUSD stablecoin, which has a $978 million market capitalization. GENIUS Act sparks debate in US Senate The 'Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act,' otherwise known as the GENIUS Act, is one of the developments pushing companies to explore digital assets. The bill seeks to provide a regulatory framework for stablecoins and their issuers in the country, but has been met with debate about Big Tech's potential participation in the crypto industry. According to The New York Times, Republican Senator Josh Hawley recently said he would vote against the bill in its current form as it would allow tech companies the ability to issue digital currencies that would compete with the dollar. Democrats plan to add an amendment that would ban Big Tech companies from creating their own stablecoins, according to the NYT, citing a person with knowledge of the plan. The move would force tech companies operating in the US to use established stablecoin companies, including Tether and Circle. Source:
