Watch: 'Red Sonja' fights warriors, minotaur in new trailer

July 10 (UPI) -- Samuel Goldwyn Films released a trailer for Red Sonja on Thursday. The film opens in theaters Aug. 15. Matilda Lutz plays Red Sonja, inspired by the Marvel Comics/Dynamo character and the heroine of Robert E. Howard's novels. As a child, Sonja survives the massacre of her tribe and family. Now, Sonja finds herself in an arena battling other prisoners and a minotaur for the entertainment of a king and the crowd. She also leads soldiers in battle. Sonja does all of this while wearing a silver chest and loin piece. At the end of the trailer, she questions what protection it will provide. The armorer confirms none, but it is for the amusement of the crowd. Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Martyn Ford, Michael Bisping, Phillip Winchester and Trevor Eve also star. MJ Bassett directs. Red Sonja will have a panel in Ballroom 20 at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. PDT. Previous versions of Red Sonja have been in development, including one to star Rose McGowan. Bryan Singer and Joey Soloway were attached to direct at one point. Howard's character existed in the same universe as his Conan the Barbarian. Brigitte Nielsen played Sonja in a 1985 adaptation, costarring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but playing Kalidor instead of Conan.

Trailer For The Post-Apocalyptic Neo-Western Cannibal Thriller FORGIVE US ALL — GeekTyrant

Samuel Goldwyn Films has released a trailer for an upcoming film titled Forgive Us All, a post-apocalyptic neo-western cannibal thriller. This is the story of "redemption in a world gone dark." The New Zealand film 'imagines a fallen world where trust is dead, the forest is crawling with cannibals, and your only hope might just be a complete stranger.' Lily Sullivan plays 'a lone survivor holed up in a remote mountain cabin, clinging to her own solitude as the world outside descends into blood-soaked chaos. But her fragile sanctuary is shattered when a mysterious man (Lance Giles) stumbles upon her doorstep—pursued by a ruthless, authoritarian gang of outlaws. 'As the unlikely duo must choose between hiding or hacking their way through a forest teeming with flesh-eating infected, the film asks: how much humanity can you keep when the world has lost its own?' There's a virus that turned humans into cannibals known as Howlers. It looks like it might be a decent movie worth checking out if you're into these kinds of stories. Forgive Us All is directed by Jordana Stott, and it will be released direct-to-VOD on July 11th, 2025.

The Australian horror movie comes from Causeway Films which produced such genre hits as The Babadook and Talk to Me. More from Deadline 'Reunion': Warp Films' Deaf-Led Revenge Thriller Breaks New Ground At Series Mania Nuclear Drama 'The Deal' Wins Inaugural Series Mania Buyers Upfront First Look At Tuppence Middleton In SVT Drama Series 'Blood Cruise' From Andy Serkis' Imaginarium Productions, Northern Fable & CBS Studios - Series Mania In the movie, Sarah and Fergus, a hopeful young Aboriginal couple, give birth to their second baby. But what should be a joyous time of their lives becomes sinister when Sarah starts seeing a malevolent spirit, she is convinced is trying to take her baby. Fergus, who can't see it but desperately wants to believe her, grows increasingly worried as she becomes more unbalanced. Is the child-stealing spirit real or is she in fact the biggest threat to the safety of their family? Written and directed by Jon Bell, The Moogai stars Shari Sebbens, Meyne Wyatt, Tessa Rose, Bella Heathcote and Toby Leonard Moore. Kristina Ceyton, Samantha Jennings, Mitchell Stanley serve as producers. The Moogai went on to play at South by Southwest and the Sydney Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Australian Feature. The deal was negotiated by Miles Fineburg from Samuel Goldwyn Films and Yana Georgieva of Bankside Films. At our Sundance studio in an interview with Matt Grobar, Sebbens said on her draw to reteam with Bell following their work together on series The Gods of Wheat Street, 'The script, for me personally, the reason I'm drawn to it is Jon's writing genre. Indigenous people in Australia getting to dip their toe into the genre pool for the first time was really exciting, and of course, the allegory, the messaging, and the underlying story that addresses our shameful and tragic history in Australia, which is the Stolen Generations.' Sebbens added on the future of Aboriginal storytelling, '''Genre, that's where it's at, at the moment. That's where the exciting stuff's happening. I think the future, though, is letting us stuff up more than once. Historically, we're only allowed to make one grand entrance, and if we get it wrong, we don't get another chance. So, I think that for me, the exciting version of the future is where Aboriginal people get to be a bit mediocre as well, actually, instead of always striving for excellence.'
