Givenchy recruits Zhao Liying as new global beauty ambassador
Givenchy on Tuesday revealed Chinese actress Zhao Liying as its new global beauty brand ambassador, the first celebrity partnership since Sarah Burton took the creative reigns of the French brand in September. The 37-year-old star is known for her leading roles in Chinese day-time dramas such as 'The Journey of Flower" (2015), 'The Story of Minglan' (2018), and 'Wild Bloom" (2022), which saw her earn a 'Best Actress' award for her performance as Xu Banxia. Zhao is no stranger to the silver screen either, having starred in films "Duckweed" (2017), "The Monkey King 3" (2018), and "Article 20," released last year. The Lanfang, Hebei-born actor began her career in 2006 after winning a talent contest and quickly gained attention with roles in "Legend of Lu Zhen" (2013), and "Boss & Me" (2014). Most recently, the actress starred in the 2025 film "We Girls", a crime drama directed by Feng Xiaogang. Marking the partnership, a new Givenchy beauty campaign shows the Chinese star wearing the Parisian brand's new Le Rouge Velvet Matte lipstick in almond terracotta. The appointment comes as the LVMH -owned Givenchy looks to freshen up the image of its makeup vertical and inevitably boost sales.

Princess Charlotte 's 'copyKate' Wimbledon outfit contained some touching details as she followed her mother's fashion footsteps on Centre Court. The 10-year-old donned a sweet summer dress that not only closely mirrored a style worn by the Princess of Wales in 2022 but was custom-made by the designer behind Kate's 2011 wedding dress. Around her wrist, the young princess wore a charm bracelet with some subtly telling details. As the 2025 men's singles final got underway at the All England Club ahead of the men's Wimbledon final on Sunday, Prince William and Catherine arrived in the royal box accompanied by two of their three children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte. Charlotte took a leaf out of Kate's style book in a white frock with delicate frill detailing at the hem and black v-line stitching designed by Sarah Burton. Burton, who is creative director at Givenchy, has long been designing outfits for the princess having just made the dramatic dark red gown she wore to the State Banquet on July 8. The British designer was famously also behind Kate's 2011 wedding gown when she was heading Alexander McQueen. Now, it seems Burton is not only dressing Kate but is creating styles for young Charlotte as she stepped out for the Championship match. Around her wrist, the young princess wore a charm bracelet with some subtly telling details The princess paired the bespoke number with Camilla Elphick flats, stylish Finlay & Co sunglasses and statement earrings. But it was her silver Pandora bracelet which contained some sweet details She also accessorised with a silver Pandora bracelet adorned with an array of charms. The bracelet featured an eternity charm with a 'royal green' gem which is Charlotte's May birthstone. There was also a 14k rose gold-plated charm of Nala from The Lion King with green eyes as well as a heart dangle charm with an engravable disk. A message appeared to be engraved on the pendent but even the most eagle-eyed royal fashion fan could not make out what it said. According to the Pandora website, wearers can inscribe 'a heartfelt message for someone special' or a 'personal stamp' as a 'token of self-love'. Young Charlotte, often dubbed her mother's 'mini', stepped out in an ensemble that appeared to pay homage to a similar look worn by Kate three years ago. Her jewellery included a gold Halcyon Days bracelet and Cartier earrings. She also gave a sweet nod to her husband Prince William, wearing what appeared to be her Cartier Bleu watch, which Prince William gave her as an anniversary gift in 2014. Last year also saw Carlos Alcaraz in the final, which he won, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

On the Podcast: Givenchy's Sarah Burton Is Charting a New Path on Her Own Terms
Sarah Burton is one of the fashion industry's most beloved figures and one of the few women creative directors at the helm of a legacy maison. When she was named to the top job at Givenchy, almost a year to the day after she had announced she was stepping down from her post at Alexander McQueen, where she had spent two decades, the excitement was palpable. Her debut collection for the French label, in March of this year, was a resounding success—the proof? Anne Hathaway wears it exclusively in her August Vogue cover story. Of seeing her designs in print, on this week's episode of the Run-Through, Burton tells Nicole Phelps, 'what I love is that you see things in a different light altogether somehow. You design them in one way and what's really amazing is when they're taken and portrayed in a completely different way, it sort of inspires you to do something new next time.' After 10 months at the house, Burton discusses how she's building a new legacy for Givenchy. '[It's] sort of an anatomical way [of] thinking, ok, to build a house, you have to build a backbone—the spine, or the foundation; and to me it's always been about a silhouette,' she says. 'I really wanted to take all of the surface decoration away and work on a sort of modern silhouette for women today: the tailoring with a slightly dropped shoulder, the nipped-in waist. Kate stuns in Givenchy gown at first royal state banquet since cancer treatment
The Princess of Wales stunned at her first state banquet in nearly two years, wearing a dark red silk creponne Givenchy evening gown on Tuesday evening (8 July). Kate joined King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle as part of the French state visit to the UK. It was her first banquet since November 2023, after her cancer diagnosis in early 2024. She is now in remission. Her gown, from the French fashion house and designed by her wedding dress creator Sarah Burton, was a diplomatic nod to the King's guests, French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. Footage shows Kate s eated next to President Macron, with the pair chatting ahead of the start of the King's toast.
