Hibs Women invited to pre-season tour in USA

Hibernian FC Women will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, USA, this summer following an invitation to an international challenge match and pre-season tour in association with Gainbridge Super League club Sporting Club Jacksonville, commonly known as Sporting JAX. After positive discussions between the two clubs, the 2024/25 Scottish Women's Premier League champions were delighted to be invited to a week-long warm-weather training camp in Florida by Sporting JAX, forming a beneficial working relationship with the newly-formed team. The ream will fly out to Florida on Sunday 27 July before returning home on Sunday 3 August, with a pre-season friendly arranged versus Sporting JAX during the intensive pre-season trip. The exhibition match will be held at the 10,000-capacity Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida on Saturday 2 August, 2025, and will kick-off at 7pm ET (12am midnight, UK time). Presented by Visit Jacksonville, the game will be dedicated to visionary late Hibernian FC chairman Ronald J Gordon, who was instrumental to both clubs involved in the fixture. This match will give Grant Scott's title-winning side an opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition ahead of the 2025/26 campaign as the girls seek to defend their league champions status. Founded in 2023, Sporting JAX are heading into their inaugural season and will play in the ultra-competitive Gainbridge Super League – the topflight of US women's football. The Florida club are managed by English manager Stacey Balaam and are building a strong squad ahead of their first-ever league campaign, which begins on Saturday 23 August, with former Rangers FC manager Mark Warburton the club's Head of Soccer and Sporting Director. 'Hosting Hibernian FC Women is especially meaningful as we pay tribute to the late Ron Gordon, a beloved friend, mentor and one of our founding investors,' said Steve Livingstone, President and CEO of Sporting JAX. 'Ron's leadership revitalized Hibs and helped bring Sporting JAX to life. This match is dedicated to him and the Gordon family.' Like this: Like Related

Hibs and Glasgow learn Women's Champions League opponents

Hibs were surprise winners of the Scottish Women's Premier League last season [SNS] Scottish champions Hibernian will face Danish title winners Fortuna Hjorring in the second round of Women's Champions League qualifying, while Glasgow City take on Austria Vienna. Hibs, who were shock title winners on a dramatic final day of the SWPL season, know the prize for overcoming Fortuna would be a tie against the winners of the match between Cypriot champions Apollon Ladies and Swiss title holders Young Boys. Advertisement Glasgow City, who finished as runners-up in the SWPL, three points behind Hibs, take on Austria Vienna for the right to play Minsk. The unusual second-round qualifying format involves teams being grouped together for mini-tournaments at yet-to-be-determined venues. Semi-finals and a final are played, with the winners of each four-team group progressing to the third qualifying round, which is the last stage before the new 18-team league phase. The second-round qualifying semi-finals are to be played on 27 August, with finals and third-place play-offs to follow three days later. Runners-up and third-place sides in each group drop into qualifying for the new Europa Cup.

Nowhere else Kirsty Morrison would rather be than at champions Hibs

Kirsty Morrison has signed a two-year contract extension with Hibernian Women and there is nowhere else she would rather be. The 23-year-old has signed on with Hibs until 2027 after winning the first Scottish Women's Premier League title of her career. Morrison played a key role in Hibs push for the title, scoring four goals in 23 appearances – including a crucial last-minute winner against Glasgow City in the first post-split game of the campaign, as well as starting at Ibrox on the final day. A Hibs Girls Academy graduate, Morrison has been with Hibernian for over a decade and was awarded her senior debut versus Spartans in February 2019 by Grant Scott. The forward showed her class at a young age, netting her first goals for the Club in a convincing win over Forfar Farmington just two months after making her debut. In her first season in senior football, she started the SWPL Cup Final in May 2019 and played 95 minutes as Hibs defeated Glasgow City on penalties in Airdrie to earn her first winners' medal of her career. She now has 136 appearances for the Club and is excited to continue her career in Leith: 'I'm really happy to extend my stay at the club, I've been at the club a long time now and there's nowhere else I'd rather be. 'I'm really excited for what the future holds. After having such a successful season we have a great opportunity to build on that. We also have the opportunity to play in the Champions League which will be a special experience.' On Kirsty's new deal, Hibs Women head coach Grant Scott commented: 'I'm delighted that Kirsty has committed her future to the club. She's another talented academy graduate who brings great experience to our squad despite only being 23. 'Kirsty has developed into a consistent performer over the years and played a key role in this season's title win. On and off the park, her attitude sets a great example for the other young players coming through. 'She's not only a quality footballer but another great person to have in our squad.' Skipper Rachael Boyle ‘delighted' to extend Hibs contract

Rachael Boyle has signed a new one-year deal with Hibernian FC Women, extending her stay at the Club until the end of the 2025/26 season! A prominent leader in the dressing room, the Hibs Women Club Captain has signed on until Summer 2026 after lifting the Scottish Women's Premier League trophy for the first time in her career. Two stints with hometown club Aberdeen, broken up by a spell with Forfar Farmington, led to 'Smally' joining the Hibees in 2016. A key member of several cup-winning Hibs Women squads, Boyle's most memorable triumph came when she captained Hibs to a 4-1 League Cup Final victory over Celtic in 2017 – even scoring the fourth and final goal of the encounter at Broadwood. The 43-time Scotland international has suffered, and continuously rebounded, from serious setbacks in recent years – with injuries keeping Boyle out for the start and the end of this season, restricting the skipper to 14 outings across the 2024/25 campaign. Despite her minutes being limited, the veteran midfielder continued to show her undeniable quality, vital versatility and strong leadership between October and February while playing a key role in Hibs' lengthy unbeaten league run across that time. After signing on for next season, Boyle said: 'I'm absolutely delighted that I'm extending my time at the club. There is no place I would rather be. 'I've obviously had to miss a lot of football over recent years but last season's success, and the excitement building towards the new season, just made me want to be a part of it all. 'I'm desperate to put injuries behind me and be ready to help the team to more success this upcoming season.' On Boyle's new contract, Hibernian FC Women head coach Grant Scott said: 'Despite going through an injury-affected season, every time Rachael was involved in matches, her quality was clear for all to see. 'She's a real leader on and off the pitch and is fully deserving of this new deal. We're all hoping for an injury-free campaign and it'll be great to have her involved in her first full pre-season in a few years. That consistency will be huge for both her and the team.'
