Hunter with a Scalpel – K-drama Episode 15 Recap & Review

Episode 15 Episode 15 of Hunter with a Scalpel begins with a flashback to the past. We see that even after Jo-kyun pushes her, Eun-seo is injured but alive! Jo-kyun tries to drag her to the edge of the cliff but Se-eun stands in his way. Eun-seo uses the opportunity to push Jo-kyun instead and he goes over the cliff, falling all the way down to the rocks. At present, Se-hyun visits Jung-hyun in his hospital room and asks to help with the investigation but he says she's done enough. Jung-hyun then gets a call from Chang-jin which sends him rushing to the police station. Director Kim Jin-rae is still not convinced that Se-hyun isn't the serial killer. Jung-hyun tries to convince him to go after Jo-kyun. Elsewhere, Jo-kyun calls Se-eun inside the van. The next thing we see is Jo-kyun walking out with her bloody uniform. The detectives receive the package of clothes at the police station and send it to the forensic lab, where Dr Cheon accepts it. She takes the clothes to Yang Joon-kyung and then calls her out for delaying the investigation on purpose. She threatens to reveal the truth about the Nam Seung-hyeop case which sends Joon-kyung rushing to see Kim Myung-kwan. But she realises that he's promoting someone else over her despite promising her the position. This seems to be enough to change Joon-kyung's mind and she doesn't tell Kim about Dr Cheon's threats. Jung-hyun informs Se-hyun about the clothes. She then reveals that Jo-kyun came to the hospital and threatened Se-eun. She insists on going out and looking for Se-eun but Jung-hyun forbids it. He even tells the guards not to let Se-hyun out of the room. A flashback then shows Se-eun and Eun-seo trekking through the woods after Jo-kyun's fall over the cliff. But Eun-seo is weak from her head injury and she soon collapses and passes away. At present, Se-hyun continues to feel guilty about Se-eun. A nurse brings a bouquet of flowers, saying someone dropped them off. In the accompanying envelope, Se-hyun finds a clue from her father with an address. The detectives look for Se-eun around the site where the clothes were found but to no avail. The forensic team then informs them that the blood on her clothes was adult blood, which means Se-eun could still be alive! We then see Jo-kyun leave his white truck and drag a large blue drum through the woods. Presumably, Se-eun is inside it. At the hospital, Se-hyun creates a distraction and sneaks out in a nurse's uniform, taking some drugs with her on the way. Soon, the detectives meet the woman at the grocery store who had sold Se-eun some bread. She gives them a direction which leads them to Jo-kyun's hideout. Inside is the dead body of the journalist from earlier. Meanwhile, Jo-kyun meets with the man who's arranging his passage on the ship. He says there's only one ticket available and not two as Jo-kyun had requested. When the man refuses to help, Jo-kyun kills him as well in order to 'make space' for him and Se-hyun. In a final scene, we see the blue drum in the middle of a forest with little Se-eun desperately crying out for help. The Episode Review Hunter with a Scalpel Episode 15 continues the chase for Jo-kyun. Se-hyun's decision not to tell the detectives when he came to visit her is still a point of confusion. That was the perfect opportunity to get him but she doesn't even try. And now everybody is running helter-skelter trying to find him. If you can move past that, this one is a fairly engaging penultimate episode. Jo-kyun is fixated on getting Se-hyun to come with him but that also seems like the thing that will bring him down. Se-eun is very much alive but being stuck in that drum in the middle of nowhere is almost a worse fate. As Jung-hyun and Se-hyun rush to save her, the question of her survival remains. There are still a few gaps in the past as well, particularly around Eun-seo's mother, Lee Jung-mi. Here's hoping the finale offers up some answers. Hunter with a Scalpel – K-drama Episode 13 Recap & Review

Episode 13 Episode 13 of Hunter with a Scalpel begins with Eun-seo seeing all the bloodstains inside the van while Se-eun enjoys her birthday gifts. Unfortunately, Choi Min-guk arrives and catches them. Eun-seo throws a liquid into Choi's face, grabs Se-eun's hand and runs into the woods. But as her father's words keep ringing in her ears, Se-eun comes to a stop despite Eun-seo's protests. At present, Jung-hyun and Se-hyun both are rushed to the hospital. The other detectives are there too and Hong Jin-woo realises that Jung-hyun's suspicion about Choi Min-guk was correct. At the police station, Chang-jin finds a photo from the Blue Barrel case of a man named Go Doo-sam. But the man in the picture is none other than Choi Min-guk. Back at the NFS, Doctor Cheon overhears Joon-kyung and Kim Myung-kwan talking about Se-hyun. She realises that Se-hyun never falsified any reports and tries to stand up for her. Meanwhile, Choi Min-guk makes little Se-eun sit with a bucket over her head as punishment for her trying to help Se-hyun. In the hospital, Se-hyun wakes up and we learn that Jung-hyun pulled through as well. Hong jin-woo then finds CCTV footage of Se-hyun hiding her notebook inside a grocery store. He takes it to Se-hyun and begins questioning her, but she stays quiet. The other three detectives go to Haryong to look into the Blue Barrel Case. On the way, they discuss how Choi Min-guk must have faked a limp all this time. While questioning the residents of the town, a woman tells the detectives that Choi Min-guk was not Go Doo-sam. His real name is Yoon Jo-kyun. He was in a relationship with a woman named Lee Jung-mi, but he didn't treat her well. Jung-mi then left her daughter with Jo-kyun and then ran away with Go Doo-sam. Hong keeps trying to question Se-hyun. She agrees to reveal everything if he sets up a press conference. By speaking at the press conference, she explains that Choi Min-guk will come after her and they can catch him. Jung-hyun wakes up in the hospital and sees the press conference on TV. Se-hyun goes up in front of all of the reporters and says she is the daughter of Yoon Jo-kyun, outing both of them as perpetrators of murders all the way from 1999. The Episode Review Hunter with a Scalpel Episode 13 changes things up. Choi Min-guk is on the run, punishing little Se-eun for her disobedience, and Jung-hyun and Se-hyun find themselves in the hospital. Our two main leads are relegated to bed rest here which means Jung-hyun's team takes up a lot of the screen time and action. And it works quite well! With the camaraderie established between Jung-hyun and his team, his colleagues' anger and frustration comes off as genuine and their further investigation of the case keeps things interesting. There's still some confusion around Yoon Jo-kyun's connection with Lee Jung-mi and Go Doo-sam, but I have a feeling that they didn't run away as much as ended up six feet under. With Se-hyun working with the police, I wonder if the show can still keep up the same level of thrill that we got while watching her face off against Jo-kyun. We're in the last leg of the show now, so here's hoping things wrap up on a high note. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Hunter with a Scalpel – K-drama Episode 8 Recap & Review

Episode 8 Episode 8 of Hunter with a Scalpel begins with Eun-seo taking care of Se-eun when she has a fever. She tells Eun-seo she doesn't want to go with her father. At present, Se-hyun drags a suitcase from the man's house to the car, past the hidden cameras. She doesn't realise she's leaving bloodstains in the car. At the police station, Jung-hyun watches a video of a witness from the Blue Barrel case who was later dismissed due to her diagnosis of schizophrenia. She describes seeing a small child with spiky hair, which Jung-hyun connects to the girl from the picture. His colleague then enters and tells him how Chang-jin hasn't been able to visit his wife in the hospital for two weeks. This is largely because Jung-hyun took up work on the old case which is why the others have to work double shifts. In the morning, Jung-hyun gets coffee for Chang-jin and Seok-woo. He apologises to Chang-jin, who accepts and even warns him about another colleague who lost his job due to the Blue Barrel case. Jung-hyun promises not to let this affect his team members. Meanwhile, Se-hyun has taken the body to another location. She gets a call from her father. This time, she insists on deciding where he should meet her with Min-ho's remains. At the police station, Jung-hyun gets into more trouble for pursuing the Blue Barrel case. This time, Chang-jin stands up to their boss and tells him to let Jung-hyun pursue the case. When Jung-hyun leaves the police station, he gets a call from Joon-kyung from the NFS. She couldn't get through to Se-hyun which is why she's called Jung-hyun. She says the third corpse showed evidence of pancuronium as well. He then goes to Seoul to pick up the toxicology reports on the first two corpses and it confirms his suspicion — Se-hyun lied to him. Meanwhile, Se-hyun takes the car to a large, empty parking lot. Soon, Mr Choi arrives as well. He sees Se-hyun's car and is looking in the back when she hits him with a rod. She doesn't realise but Se-eun is hiding in Choi's car. She ties her father and draws his blood. She then wraps some rope around his neck and begins to strangle him. But she's interrupted by the truck's alarm. She goes to stop it and doesn't see Se-eun run and cut Mr Choi loose. He hits Se-hyun and begins choking her, but promises not to kill her. A security guard suddenly arrives, giving Se-hyun the chance to run away. She goes home and finds a blue bucket sitting in her room. She starts hearing voices and hallucinates her father strangling her, which then turns into a vision of her strangling herself. She runs out of the house and Jung-hyun finds her on the streets looking dazed. We then see Jung-hyun entering Se-hyun's house with some medicines. He sees her bloody shoes and the broken blue bucket. Se-hyun has washed up and he now patches up a wound on her leg. He then tells her a story about how he was wrongly arrested for a robbery. One particular cop realised he was innocent and found the real perpetrator. That's when he decided to become an officer, to catch the real perpetrators. He seems to know she's hiding something. He then receives a message from the digital forensics team. It says that the location in the photograph is Cheongun Port, which is close to where the Blue Barrel case took place. The Episode Review Hunter with a Scalpel Episode 8 continues the thrills and the mystery. Se-hyun's plan seems to work in the beginning and it's a pleasant change to see her get one over her father. But little Se-eun is just as clever and Se-hyun finds her plans foiled. It's a bit concerning how much blood she's left all over the place as well. Doesn't seem like the marks of a seasoned killer. Jung-hyun is now closer to the truth about Se-hyun and it finally feels like he has more skin in the game, rather than blindly conducting an investigation. The final scene brings the two together and they interact in a more meaningful way than they have before, which is also a good move, as they haven't had much of a connection before this. His involvement will definitely make things more interesting in the episodes to come. Overall, the short episodes are working quite well as the drama is able to fit quite a lot of development into the quick span of thirty minutes. The plot moves fast and there is plenty of mystery and tension, making this quite an enjoyable ride. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!
