Steelers linked to another tight end trade target — Seahawks' Noah Fant
It must be Groundhog Day in the Steel City — as the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to another tight end trade target. As Pittsburgh's rumored interest in Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith and Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has begun to simmer down, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin predicted the Seahawks to trade TE Noah Fant to the Steelers. Here's how Benjamin justified the proposal: "Even after securing Metcalf as their new No. 1 wideout, the Steelers have reportedly been sniffing around for pass catchers, in part to replace the gifted but volatile Pickens. And Fant — more so than, say, the Atlanta Falcons' Kyle Pitts — would seem to be readily available in Seattle. The Seahawks spent a second-round draft pick on fellow tight end Elijah Arroyo, whose athleticism could quickly vault him into a starting role, and trading Fant would save the team close to $9 million in 2025, the last year of the veteran's deal. As a bonus, Fant previously spent three years working alongside current Steelers assistant Zach Azzanni in Denver." Benjamin acknowledged that the Seahawks would be hesitant to send their only proven tight end option to Pittsburgh, while also arguing that the Steelers could have too many mouths to feed in their own tight end room. Although trade predictions have been piling up as NFL news slows down — especially with nearly a month remaining until training camp — this speculative proposal is far more feasible than the viral Najee Harris trade report. Could Pittsburgh ultimately pull off a trade before camp? And if they do, will the Steelers address their defense with a star corner like Jalen Ramsey — or perhaps reunite Aaron Rodgers with a former teammate in WR Allen Lazard? Shaquill Griffin addition makes young Seahawks CB expendable
The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin to a one-year contract earlier this week, reuniting with one of their 2017 draft picks. Griffin's addition pushes several cornerbacks further down the depth chart. It could spell bad news for sophomore corner Nehemiah Pritchett, who will enter training camp on the roster bubble. Pritchett was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round (No. 136) of the 2024 NFL draft. The former Auburn standout struggled in limited action as a rookie. Occasionally thrown into the fire due to injuries, Pritchett wasn't ready to cover NFL-caliber wide receivers. As a rookie, Pro Football Focus assigned him a brutal coverage grade of 35.6. Opposing quarterbacks enjoyed a strong passer rating of 115.6 when throwing the football in his direction. Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, and Josh Jobe will be the Seahawks' primary three cornerbacks. The recently added Griffin should be the top rotational reserve option off the bench. The Seahawks also added veteran corner Shemar Jean-Charles to their offseason roster. Pritchett struggled mightily as a rookie. The Seahawks have made moves this offseason that push the sophomore defender further down the depth chart. Pritchett will enter training camp at risk of being released following Griffin's addition.

ESPN proposes 1 final move to complete Seahawks offseason
The Seattle Seahawks have been committed to improvement this offseason. After acquiring a slew of talents this offseason, including quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Cooper Kupp, general manager John Schneider has stayed vigilant in his pursuit of upgrades. Earlier this week, Schneider signed cornerback Shaquill Griffin, proving he's still monitoring the market for talent. ESPN recently wrote an article proposing one final move all 32 clubs should make this offseason. For the Seahawks, they have Schneider shifting his attention back to the offensive line. ESPN says the Seahawks should sign veteran free-agent guard Brandon Scherff. "The interior offensive line was a major problem for the Seahawks in 2024, and while first-round rookie Grey Zabel should stabilize the left guard position, the other positions are still in flux," Aaron Schatz wrote. "Olu Oluwatimi is penciled in at center, where he was below average in both pass block win rate (92.4% versus NFL center average of 93.8%) and especially in run block win rate (64.5% versus 72.8%) last season." Schatz is correct that the interior offensive line is the Seahawks' biggest concern. First-round guard Grey Zabel is an instant starter on the left, and Olu Oluwatimi and Jalen Sundell are competing at center. Right guard appears to be an even bigger projection. "The current leader at right guard is 2024 third-round pick Christian Haynes," Schatz continued. "Why not bring in a former Pro Bowler who can provide some stability and veteran leadership? Scherff is still available and could take the right guard position, kicking Haynes over to battle Oluwatimi for the center position at training camp." Scherff would represent a big-time upgrade for the Seahawks at right guard.

Seahawks legend was thrilled to see Shaquill Griffin reunion
The Seattle Seahawks officially reunited with veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin earlier this week, signing him to a one-year contract. One Seahawks legend was particularly happy to see it come to fruition after months of negotiation. Quandre Diggs took to social media to publicize his reaction, claiming he was thrilled to see Griffin "go home." The Seahawks selected Griffin during the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He played out his entire four-year rookie contract in Seattle. Griffin peaked in 2019, earning a Pro Bowl nod that season. After leaving Seattle, he's since played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings. Diggs played for the Seahawks from 2019 to 2023, sharing two campaigns (2019-20) with Griffin. Diggs was outstanding for the Seahawks, totaling 324 tackles and 15 interceptions in four seasons. John Schneider released him from a bloated contract last offseason, and he signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. Diggs was playing quality football for the Titans before suffering a season-ending foot injury. The 32-year-old safety technically hasn't retired and could consider playing another season if the correct opportunity arises. Diggs would probably love to reunite with Griffin in Seattle, but the Seahawks are currently deep at safety.
