Duke highlights Longhorns basketball non-conference schedule reveals
plan accordingly 🤘📆#HookEm With the college basketball season quickly approaching, it's time for fans to start marking their calendars. On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team unveiled its non-conference schedule. The Longhorns' regular season is full of marquee matchups that fans will not want to miss. Texas will open its season on November 4th in the Dick Vitale Invitational against Duke at Charlotte's Spectrum Center. It will mark the first meeting between the two historic programs in eight years. Four days later, the Longhorns will begin a four-game homestand. During that stretch, Lafayette, Fairleigh Dickinson, Kansas City, and Rider will make the trip to Austin. The Nov 18 matchup against Rider will be the Longhorns' first-ever game against the Broncos. Starting on Nov.24, Texas will hit the road for the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center. Although pairings have not been announced, it will be a good early-season test. The other programs participating in the three-day tournament are Arizona State, Boise State, Chaminade, NC State, Seton Hall, USC, and Washington State. Following the Maui Invitational, Texas will return to the Moody Center for the ACC/SEC Challenge. They will take on Virginia on December 3rd. Five days later, they will welcome Southern to town. The Longhorns have only faced the Jaguars once in program history and emerged with a win. After that brief two-home stand, Texas will go on a tour of the East Coast. That will include a highly anticipated match against UConn on December 12th. They will also face Le Moyne and Maryland Eastern Shore during that trip. That will mark the first matchups in men's basketball against both the Dolphins and the Hawks. While fans still have to wait a few months to see Sean Miller and the reshaped roster in action, they can finally start deciding which games to attend to show their support.

Top 15 2026 basketball recruit lists Longhorns in his Top 6
As Longhorns basketball looks to add to its 2026 class, it had a reason to celebrate on Monday. One of the top recruits still on the board, Qayden Samuels, narrowed his list down to six programs, and the Longhorns made the cut. Their next goal will be to get Samuels to campus for a visit, showing him what a future at Texas could look like. While the Longhorns would love to secure a commitment from the talented small forward, they will face competition. The other programs still in the running are Kentucky, UConn, North Carolina, NC State, and Georgetown. All of those programs have had success over the last few years, including UConn, who has rewritten the record books. Currently, the Bishop McNamara High School product is ranked as the fifth-best small forward in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the best player from the state of Maryland. Over the last few months, Samuels has seen his stock rise as he has been a force with the ball in his hands. Since becoming the Longhorns' head coach, Sean Miller has focused on reshaping his roster. That has included building relationships with players in the 2026 class and beyond. If Miller can land Samuels, the Longhorns would be adding a talented scorer to the mix. Although the Longhorns are still searching for their first commitment in the 2026 class, they have been connected to some of the top players available. They have made offers to Dylan Mingo, Taylen Kinney, Deron Rippey Jr., Bo Ogden, and Junior County. Any of those players would represent a significant offensive upgrade for a team that struggled to score last year. With the recruiting season far from over, the Longhorns will be a program to watch. Texas has numerous offers pending and hopes to add Samuels' commitment to the list. Longhorns basketball adds talented center from London
Texas Longhorns basketball has been busy improving their roster this week. On Tuesday, they signed a talented center in Lewis Obiorah. The London native spent last year playing at Barking Abbey Basketball Academy. While he may be an unknown to many in Texas, Obiorah has been making headlines in the Elite Academy Basketball League. Last year, Obiorah earned EABL championship finals MVP honors while leading Barking Abbey to the EABL championship. He averaged 10.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game and was a human highlight reel every time he stepped on the court. In his first year with the Longhorns, Obiorah will join a roster that has undergone a lot of change. New head coach Sean Miller has been busy in the transfer portal upgrading the offense. Those additions include Dailyn Swain, Camden Heide, Matas Vokietaitis, and Simeon Wilcher. That group will be tasked with turning a program coming off a disappointing season. The Longhorns posted a 19-16 overall record during the 2024-2025 campaign. They struggled on the road and did not do well defending their home court. In his first season calling the shots, Miller is looking to get Texas back to the NCAA Tournament to make a deep March Madness run. With the start of the regular season only a few months away, the Longhorns roster includes three European players. Earlier this week, they signed Germany's Declan Duru Jr. Now that the roster is mostly set, the Longhorns can focus on building their team chemistry. While he still has a lot of room to grow, Obiorah has the potential to be a very good player for the Longhorns and gives Sean Miller another option at center.

Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Since joining Texas three months ago after leaving Xavier, Sean Miller has wasted no time overhauling the roster post-Rodney Terry's firing. After Terry's departure, it was only natural for there to be widespread speculation about the future of Longhorns players still eligible to compete, with many wondering who would receive invitations to remain part of the team under new leadership. Advertisement Half of the eight players from last season who could have returned have instead decided to move on, either heading to the NBA or transferring to other colleges. With the roster taking shape for 2025-26, only four players who featured in at least ten games last year (Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, Chendall Weaver, and Nic Codie) are slated to return. So, Longhorns fans can expect a major rebuild heading into next season. Miller has been busy strengthening the team by adding several transfers and delivering on his word to bring in top high school recruits, including four-star forward John Clark and European prospect Lewis Obiorah.
