Former Kansas FB Jared Casey appreciates the opportunity with the Kansas City Chiefs

Former Kansas FB Jared Casey appreciates the opportunity with the Kansas City Chiefs After this year's draft, the Kansas City Chiefs invited some undrafted free agents to their rookie minicamp, including former Kansas Jayhawks standout Jared Casey. During his press conference that weekend, he spoke proudly about the opportunity in camp. "Just being able to go out and wear a Chiefs jersey," said Casey, "and Chiefs helmet is kind of just a dream come true." Casey played four home games for Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium during the 2024 season, so he was familiar with his new surroundings. He will compete for a hopeful roster spot as the tight end and fullback option, understanding he is the underdog. "This is a surreal experience, and there are a lot of guys here competing for spots on the team, and same as I am," said Casey. "So, you know, you kind of got to have that in the back of your mind, like what is it after football?" In 2024, Casey played in all 12 games as a senior, starting eight. He tied a career-high with 18 receptions, 203 yards, and two touchdowns. He earned CSC Academic Second Team All-America and First Team All-Big 12 honors as a fullback.

Dolphins' top 2025 draft prospects: Oregon DT Derrick Harmon

Dolphins' top 2025 draft prospects: Oregon DT Derrick Harmon When Derrick Harmon hit the transfer portal before the 2024 college football season, he was one of the most impactful defensive lineman available. And when he got to Eugene, Ore., it was clear the Ducks were going to get a great return in their investment. He registered 3.5 sacks and 35 pressures in his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons, but his 2024 Second Team All-America honor was a clear indicator of the step he took as a redshirt junior with Oregon. In the former Michigan State defensive lineman's first game with the Ducks, he clocked five pressures and 1.5 sacks. Throughout last season, he proved himself as one of the top pass-rushing big men in the nation on one of the best teams in the country. After free agency, Miami is still missing a presence on the interior of its defensive line. Harmon could be a little bit of a reach at No. 13 overall, but if the Dolphins believe in his talent, he would make sense as a first-round target, especially if the team is able to trade back a few spots. Position : Defensive tackle : Defensive tackle Projected round : 1st round : 1st round Height : 6'5 : 6'5 Weight: 313 Fit for Miami The Dolphins are in dire need of pass rush, especially from the interior. Zach Sieler has proven to be a solid rusher, but he's the only impact player set to be a part of Miami's interior defensive line in 2025. Sieler finished the season with 46 pressures, the 17th best mark in the league among interior linemen, while Calais Campbell finished tied for 24th with 39. With Campbell now a free agent and pondering retirement, Benito Jones, Matt Dickerson, and Neil Farrell are set to fill out the room. That's almost certainly not Miami's plan for next season. While they could choose not to address the interior defensive line in the first round, it may just be their biggest need remaining this offseason. While Harmon is yet to prove himself as a great run defender, Miami would be able to get some pass rush out of the soon-to-be rookie. In 2024, Harmon was one of, if not the best pass-rushing interior defensive lineman in all of college football. In his redshirt junior season, Harmon led all college defensive linemen with 55 pressures, according to PFF. With injuries ravaging Miami's edge rushers in the past couple seasons, consistent push from the interior could be crucial in elevating the defense. Bottom line Harmon generally is projected to go in the back half of the first round, but he could still make sense at Miami's pick. He would be a dream steal for anyone in the back end of the first round, but the Dolphins should consider selecting Harmon before another team gets a chance to run the pick in. If the Dolphins bring him in, he would immediately be a starting-level player, as the room outside of Sieler is far from inspiring. Miami could pass him up and try to find a defensive lineman on Day 2, since the class is one of the deepest in recent memory at that position. But Harmon would nearly guarantee the Dolphins would have a viable pass rush from the interior of the defensive line.

Augustana's Greenwaldt claims National Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (AUGUSTANA) — Of all the accolades that Augustana Junior Bryn Greenwaldt has earned in her short career, there was one missing… until Wednesday afternoon. Greenwaldt became the first National Champion in program history after winning the 50 free at the DII National Championships. The back-to-back national runner-up in the 50 free had it rolling early when she smashed an NCAA DII record by posting the first ever sub-22 second time, finishing in 21.92 to earn the top prelim time. In the final, she made the turn at 10.67 and fended off the reigning national champion from UIndy by .15 seconds, finishing in a time of 22.09. What an amazing day at the pool,' said head coach Andrew Makepeace. 'Capping off the evening with Bryn bringing home the first national championship in program history was extremely special. She may not have broken the record she said in the prelims, but winning and getting your hand on the wall first can be more important sometimes.' Her day did not finish there, though. In the final women's event of the night, Augustana earned First Team All-America honors in the 200 medley relay with a fifth place finish and program record time of 1:39.82. The Vikings held a lead in the first 50 and steadily maneuvered through to keep a top-five position. Greenwaldt led off and was joined by Nesrine Jelliti, Angelina Chan and Makoa Montgomery. It is the second consecutive season that the core four finished fifth in the national championships. 'Breaking a school record in the most competitive event with two teams going under the national record was impressive,' said Makepeace. 'All four ladies, Bryn, Nesrine, Angelina and Makoa were up to the challenge and got after to meet the right way.' In the 1M Dive, Avery Lommel earned the top spot in the consolation final with 415.75 points to earn ninth place and Second Team All-America honors. Lommel was joined in the event by Kate Robbins, who narrowly missed out on the final round with 359.20 points in prelims. 'We're proud of our divers and their efforts from today and for what's to come in the 3m. They look really sharp right now and think that they'll have a really great performance on Friday.'Jelliti also participated in the 50 free prelims on Wednesday morning, placing 47th with a time of 23.74. She entered the meet with the 53rd ranking but was able to finish six spots ranked 19th nationally by the CSCAA, is in 10th place through six events with 57 remainder of Augustana's schedule at the NCAA Championships is 3-Meter Dive – David Binsfeld400 Medley Relay (Finals only)Friday100 Back – Bryn Greenwaldt100 Breast – Nesrine JellitiWomen's 3-Meter Dive – Avery Lommel, Kate Robbins200 Free Relay (Finals only)Saturday100 Free – Bryn Greenwaldt200 Breast – Nesrine JellitiMen's 1-Meter Dive – David Binsfeld400 Free Relay (Finals only) Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
