Following this, the flames engulfed all the two-wheelers parked near the motorcycle," he said. Four fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames, but some plastic and wooden material kept in the windows of the building caught fire. Fire station officer Vijay Bhilare said: "Six two-wheelers parked at the entrance of the building were gutted. Thick, black smoke emanating from the fire spread across the building floors, blocking all entry and exit points. The people stuck in the building made frantic calls for help." Fire officers Nitin Temgire and Sanjay Jadhav, along with their team members, carried out the rescue operations. Bhilare told TOI: "The windows of the building started melting because of the intense heat of the fire. We broke the window glass panes and rescued the people using ropes and ladders. Some people were brought down using the staircase."
