JPKK reminded to uphold integrity in fund management
SEREMBAN: All Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairpersons and committee members are reminded to uphold integrity in managing funds entrusted to them, said Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. He said all allocations channelled through various initiatives are a responsibility that must be appropriately managed, and any form of misappropriation, abuse or implementation delays could tarnish the government's image and erode public trust. 'I want to stress that integrity in managing government funds is crucial. Every sen disbursed through any allocation is a trust from the people. 'The Sejati MADANI Initiative fund, for example, must be managed responsibly, transparently and effectively. It is not just financial allocation, but a symbol of the government's trust in the JPKK. Therefore, there should be no room for abuse, leakage or wastage,' he said in his speech at the 'Majlis Amanat Menteri Besar' with 434 JPKK members here today. Also present was senior state executive councillor Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias. The event also saw all JPKK members taking the Corruption-Free Pledge, witnessed by Negeri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail. Aminuddin said appointments for the new JPKK term would be evaluated based on management performance, meeting implementation, achievements, and the execution of Sejati MADANI programmes. These components, he added, would serve as key indicators for the government, particularly state assemblymen, to ensure the quality and effectiveness of services provided. Meanwhile, Jalaluddin called on all JPKK chairpersons to work closely with their respective assemblymen to ensure smooth and effective implementation of development programmes. 'The core responsibility of the JPKK is village development and management. Do not turn the JPKK into a tool for personal gain or to undermine others,' he said.

Engage The Public To Bridge Policy Gaps, PM Urges Senior Officials
GENERAL LUMUT, June 15 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today urged all ministers, senior federal and state government officials, as well as policy and project implementers, to frequently engage with the public to better understand the issues faced by the people. The Prime Minister said members of parliament should also adopt this approach to ensure local concerns are addressed more effectively and comprehensively. 'Even senior civil servants are requested to go to the ground, which is why we have initiatives like Sejati MADANI and Kampung Angkat MADANI. These enable senior officials, including ministers, to identify any disconnect between policy statements and their implementation at the grassroots level. 'When we engage at the ground level, we discuss issues like education, unemployment, drug abuse, healthcare facilities and economic projects. All these must be addressed thoroughly because the challenges reported may differ between federal and state levels,' he said. Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said this at the closing of the Perak-level MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 held at Lumut Waterfront here today. Anwar stressed the importance of directly listening to the people's grievances through initiatives like the MADANI Rakyat programme or dialogue sessions between leaders and the public to gather feedback on areas needing improvement in development projects. Citing examples, Anwar said he learned about issues such as damaged toilets in many schools and limited internet access in higher education institutions (IPT) through interactions with the public during community engagement programmes at eateries or Friday prayers. He said such grassroots engagement allows the government to act swiftly in addressing these problems. 'We talk about artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation, Microsoft and so on, but we still have broken toilets and no internet access. This is a major contradiction because while we want to prepare for an advanced future, basic infrastructure must be resolved first,' he said. Also present at the closing ceremony were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, representing the lead ministry. Among others present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and senior federal and state officials.

Developers, private companies in N. Sembilan encouraged to set up recycling centres
SEREMBAN: In line with efforts to protect the environment, all developers and private companies in Negeri Sembilan are encouraged to establish recycling centres in their development areas. Negeri Sembilan Local Government Development, Housing and Transport Action Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the move would the move complement the government's initiatives on waste reduction, zero landfill goals, and the advancement of smart and sustainable city development. He said the KITARecycle Drive-Through Centre managed by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) serves as the best example, with statistics showing that 2,589 individuals registered and delivered recyclable items at the centre in 2023. 'The number increased sharply to 22,139 individuals last year and as of April this year, the agency has received 4,557 people who have registered,' he told reporters after opening the KITARecycle Matrix Concepts Drive-Through Centre here today. Also present were SWM Environment Corporate General Manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin and Matrix Concepts Chief Executive Officer Chai Keng Wai. Meanwhile, Arul said, The KITARecycle Drive-Thru Centre, operated by SWM Environment, also recorded the collection of 724 tonnes of recyclable materials last year and over 306 tonnes as of April this year. In addition, it also manages 16 KITARecycle Houses and nine KITARecycle Drop-Off Collection Points, he added. He said the effort to preserve the environment is also supported by 32 Drive-Thru Recycling Centres (DTRCs) in the state operated by the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) through the MADANI Community Well-Being Programme (Sejati MADANI). In a separate development, Arul expressed optimism that the construction of the Seremban Arena Complex, the first of its kind in the state and valued at RM250 million, will add significant value to the socio-economic growth of the local community. He said the project, undertaken by the Lee Tian Hock Yong Chou Lian Foundation, is expected to position Seremban City as a modern and inclusive urban centre. Developed by Karisma Perwira Sdn Bhd, the project will be officially launched on June 28, marking a new milestone in the transformation of Seremban's urban landscape.
