Bengaluru police files 260 cases, seizes 98 autos during overcharging crackdown
The Transport Department cracked down on autorickshaws overcharging or plying illegally in Bengaluru, registering 260 cases and seizing 98 vehicles on action follows Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy's directive for stricter enforcement, including permit cancellations and police cases against repeat offenders. Calling overcharging 'daylight robbery', Reddy instructed the Transport Commissioner in a June 28 letter to act against autos violating government-fixed Bengaluru city, a drive was launched against autorickshaws charging more than the fare fixed by the government and against autorickshaws plying illegally from 8 am on June 30,' a transport department official told PTI. The operation was conducted by 22 special teams, two from each Regional Transport Office. The crackdown comes amid mounting public complaints of autos refusing passengers, using faulty or fast meters, and charging up to Rs 150 for rides that should cost Rs 80, according to the Economic Times. BBMP to bear cost of seva sindhu certificates for Pourakarmika candidates
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday announced that it will cover the expenses incurred in obtaining necessary certificates through the Seva Sindhu portal for pourakarmika (civic workers) candidates selected under the Direct Payment System (DPS) in the Solid Waste Management (SWM) department. As per the roster and reservation rules, the final selection list of 12,692 pourakarmika candidates was published on November 16, 2024. BBMP in a release said that to verify the authenticity of the selected candidates, reports will be procured from the respective Deputy Commissioners. Candidates have already submitted applications through the Seva Sindhu portal. Candidates are required to upload supporting documents such as Certificate-1, Certificate-2, and other relevant records on the portal. The BBMP Commissioner has decided that the civic body will bear the cost involved in preparing these mandatory certificates. Special Commissioner of the Administration Department and Member Secretary of the Pourakarmika Selection Committee, Avinash Menon Rajendran, has appealed to the selected candidates not to fall prey to any illegal demands or middlemen and to ensure the uploading of documents is carried out in a transparent and timely manner.

It's a matter of pride that ATI Mysuru trains 8,400 officers annually :Shalini Rajneesh
Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh said that it was a matter of pride that the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru trains nearly 8,400 Group A and Group B officers, and even officials from other States also receive training at the institute here. She was speaking at the inauguration of a training programme for 30 Group 'A' officers from the 2024 batch of Tripura State Administrative Service. The training will be held from May 9 to 12. Ms. Rajneesh inaugurated the programme on Friday via video conferencing. She said the ATI conducts about 280 training programmes every year, providing high-level training to approximately 8,400 Group A and Group B officers. The Chief Secretary said that training includes an introduction to successful projects implemented by Karnataka's e-Governance Department, which is aimed at good governance and citizen-centric e-governance initiatives such as Bhoomi, Seva Sindhu, Unified Land Management System, and Koosina Mane (Mother & Child Home), etc. During the training programme, the participants will also visit various heritage sites of Mysuru, the Nitre Gram Panchayat in Chamarajanagar district, and the Mysuru City Corporation. The Joint Director (Administration) of ATI K. Roopashree, the Joint Director (Training) Sadhana Ashok Pote, the Training Director Kavita M.R., and faculty members of the institute were among those present.

‘Girls must make use of Yuva Nidhi scheme'
Mysuru: Vice-chairperson of Karnataka State Guarantee Implementation Authority Pushpa Amarnath asked unemployed girls to make use of the Yuva Nidhi scheme. She was speaking at a Yuva Nidhi scheme awareness event held at Maharani's College of Arts for Women in Mysuru. She said that the state govt has implemented five guarantee schemes, including the Yuva Nidhi, to empower women. All educated and unemployed girls who are eligible under the scheme must make use of it. Apart from providing financial assistance to the youth, the state govt has also arranged 40 different types of skill development training for them, she director of district employment exchange DM Rani said this programme was organised to spread awareness about the Yuva Nidhi scheme and hone their skills. All unemployed youths must undergo skill development, she said. Candidates can enrol to the scheme through the online Seva Sindhu portal. They must also make a self-declaration of their unemployment status once every three months through the online portal, between the first and 25th of the month after enrolling in the guarantee implementation committee president Shivakumar also appealed girls to make use of this scheme. The committee vice-president Hunsur Basavanna, Maharani's college professor Rajeshwari, and others were present.
