Dallas Zoo planning farewell party for western lowland gorillas expected to leave this fall
The Dallas Zoo is gearing up to say goodbye to its four western lowland gorillas. Sometime this fall, Shana, Zola, Juba and B'Wenzi will be moving to another zoo. The relocation is a recommendation from the Gorilla Species Survival Plan (SSP), a collaborative program that works across accredited zoos to ensure the long-term sustainability of this critically endangered species. The zoo said in a Facebook post, "The SSP takes into account many factors, including age, personality, and social dynamics, to create groupings that are best for the individual animals and the broader population. This next chapter will give our boys a new social setting and environment that supports their continued growth and well-being." The zoo says they will miss the gorillas around the habitat and that they will be throwing a "Texas-sized" farewell party for the gorillas soon. The zoo also expressed it's interest in welcoming new gorillas into the zoo space and that they will share more information on those moves as they become available.

Fire Under Control at Iran's Largest Oil Refinery: State Media
A fire that broke out on Saturday at Iran's Abadan Oil Refinery, the country's largest crude oil processing facility, has been brought under control without disrupting operations, state media reported. The blaze erupted in one of the refinery's processing units, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency, which said firefighters responded promptly. There were no immediate reports of casualties or the cause of the incident. Production remained unaffected, the Oil Ministry's Shana news agency said.

Weekend storm topples trees, traps campers at northern Ontario parks
A couple from Sudbury, Ont., say they're still reeling after surviving a severe weekend storm in northern Ontario that toppled trees and trapped campers in two provincial parks. Pitawanakwat says after the peak of the storm passed, he helped check on nearby campers, some of whom were seriously hurt. Shana Calixte-Pitawanakwat says they were evacuated by emergency crews around 4 a.m. the next day, and were among several dozen others taken to a respite centre in Mattawa, Ont. Ontario Provincial Police said Sunday that about 290 people were evacuated from Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park and Kiosk Provincial Park after the storm, and multiple people were injured. Story continues below advertisement Police say Highway 17 near Mattawa was closed Sunday due to storm damage, but has since partially reopened.

Joe Swash's sister Shana's 'normal job' 19 years after EastEnders role
Shana Swash first appeared on our screens over two decades ago as Demi Miller in EastEnders, alongside real life brother Joe Swash. The actress, 34, was involved in a hugely controversial storyline that saw Demi give birth at just 13 years old. The character drew the attention of Albert Square locals when she arrived with her family in 2004, due to her pregnancy. The famous face spent two years on Albert Square as part of the Miller family, but was written out of the show in 2006 when Demi left to live in the Cotswolds with her mum. Life for Shana has changed a great deal since she left Walford. In 2021, she opened her new coffee business Swash and Jones in Banard Park, Islington. The establishment was featured during last night's episode of BBC reality series Stacey & Joe, which follows Joe's life alongside TV presenter wife Stacey Solomon and their family. Siblings Shana and Joe then enjoyed a hot chocolate and chatted about his upcoming fun run for Comfort Case UK – a charity that provides comfort cases filled with belongings to youngsters entering the care system. Later, we saw the two take part in the race, with Shana joking: 'I thoroughly enjoyed it when I got to the end – great cause, awful race – that's what I have to say!'
