Anthony Anderson 'Regrets' If 2003 Lindsay Lohan Interview 'Intended as Comedy' Was in 'Poor Taste'

Anthony Anderson is apologizing for a 2003 interview with a then-17-year-old Lindsay Lohan that has resurfaced to backlash on social media in recent days. In the clip, when Anderson guest hosted The Sharon Osbourne Show, the comedian makes a number of comments that are being criticized on social media. In particular, after Lohan references that she's a minor by saying she's 'illegal, for people that are old,' Anderson says, 'Some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them.' He then laughs. He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay. Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory.' The comments about Lohan's age come after she talks about how she recently moved in with fellow Disney star and friend Raven-Symoné. He asks Lohan about their living situation and how they're adjusting as roommates, and gives her a pink satin pillow with his face on it, after she references her decor. He then asks: 'What gentlemen will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné?' 'No one. I don't have a boyfriend,' Lohan says, before Anderson adds: 'She's single, but looking!' It's here that Lohan explains her age and Anderson replies with the 'like them young' remark, after which he laughs. Later, throwing to a commercial break, Anderson highlights that Freaky Friday is out on DVD that day, and jokes, 'right now, we're about to get our freak on' as he appears to give her a hug as she covers her mouth with her hand. Elsewhere in the interview, Anderson recalls how his kids enjoy watching her in Parent Trap and marvels that despite her 'sophistication' she's 'only 17.' They also talk about her learning to drive and growing up on Long Island and her then-upcoming movie Mean Girls as well as their respective awkward run-ins with Osbourne and Dyan Cannon, in Anderson's case. The interview has resurfaced as Lohan is promoting her Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, which sees the actress reunite with co-star Jamie Lee Curtis. Freakier Friday hits theaters on Aug. 8. Anthony Anderson addresses resurfaced clip of him telling a teen Lindsay Lohan he ‘likes them young'

Anthony Anderson claims he was just kidding around when he told an underage Lindsay Lohan he 'likes them young.' 'This interview was clearly intended as comedy,' a rep for the comedian told Entertainment Weekly n Friday in response to a resurfaced clip of Anderson interviewing Lohan on The Sharon Osbourne Show in December 2003 when he was asked to fill in. The spokesperson continued, 'He regrets if the humour was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay. Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory.' Page Six has reached out to Anderson's rep for further comment but has not heard back. In the resurfaced clip, the Black-ish star asked the Freaky Friday actress about what it was like being roommates with fellow child star Raven-Symoné at the time. He began with a compliment, stating they are 'both beautiful women' and wondered how they would compromise on decorating the home. Lohan then explained that she was much more into the colour pink than the Cosby Show star, so that wouldn't be an issue, but then Anderson asked, 'What gentleman will be at the new pad?' 'No one,' the Parent Trap star immediately responded, nodding her head. 'No, I don't have a boyfriend.' Anderson then leaned in and shouted to the audience, 'Hmmm. She's single! But looking.' However, Lohan clarified, 'I'm illegal for people that are old,' prompting the Guys With Kids star to reply, 'Well, you know some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names but, you know, I'm one of them.' The then-33-year-old erupted into laughter but the audience was noticeably not as enthused. One person on social media expressed dismay over the comment, writing, 'He actually said that out loud.' Another asked, 'Is it a rule that to be successful in Hollywood you have to be a complete creep?' A third social media user pointed out Anderson's history of sexual assault allegations, asking, 'How does he still have a career?????' In 2018, the Los Angeles Police probed the Barbershop star for allegedly assaulting a woman at an event she catered. However, his rep said at the time, 'Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.' Anderson and assistant director Wayne Witherspoon were also previously accused of raping an extra on the set of the 2004 film Hustle & Flow, but the charges were dropped when the judge ruled that there was no probable cause to try the case. A rep for Lohan, now 39, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Amid Immense Backlash For Seemingly Making Sexual Comments To A 17-Year-Old Lindsay Lohan, Anthony Anderson Has Responded

This article mentions allegations of sexual assault. Related: After a resurfaced video of Anthony Anderson interviewing Lindsay Lohan went viral for all the wrong reasons, he is speaking out. Earlier this week, a clip from a December 2003 episode of The Sharon Osbourne Show went viral. Anthony was acting as the guest host, while Lindsay stopped by to celebrate the DVD and VHS release of her hit film Freaky Friday. It's safe to assume the decades-old interview is making its rounds today because Lindsay is currently promoting her latest feature film — the sequel to Freaky Friday — Freakier Friday. But it's catching everyone's attention due to the nature of the interview and the seemingly inappropriate comments a then-33-year-old Anthony was asking Lindsay, who was 17 at the time. Several remarks with sexual undertones were made, starting as soon as she walked on stage, when he greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and then made a joke about her kissing him "on the lips with tongue." Related: Moments that stick out throughout the interview also included Anthony telling Lindsay his family loved The Parent Trap, while immediately following up with, "You've grown up a whole lot since then," as he put his hand on her knee. He also gifted her a pillow with his face on it after she revealed she and fellow child star, Raven-Symoné, got a place together. Although speaking of the pillow, he worded his next question with a sexual innuendo: "Now aside from entertaining me in your room and in your house, what gentleman will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné?" Related: The conversation topics continued to grow more disturbing after Lindsay said she didn't plan on having any men at her new place, because she didn't have a boyfriend. Anthony announced to the audience, " single and looking!" But Lindsay quickly reacted by pointing out, "But I'm illegal for people that are old." He followed up her comments with, "Well, some men like 'em young, we ain't gonna mention no names, but, you know. I'm one of 'em." Statements like these continued throughout the interview until it was over, literally. In fact, his final words to the audience were, "We're about to get our freak on," referring to him and Lindsay as he embraced her in a hug. While he was seemingly making a reference to Freaky Friday, the fact that he was saying these comments to a teenager made many viewers cringe. Lindsay also appeared uncomfortable during certain moments. Many fans took to social media to voice their strong opinions on the interview, and the sentiments were the same: Related: Well, today, Anthony is responding to the backlash: "This interview was clearly intended as comedy. He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay," a spokesperson tells Entertainment Weekly via email on behalf of Anderson. "Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory." Beyond reactions to it being "creepy," some people also pointed out Anthony's controversial past, which includes several sexual assault allegations. The first one emerged in 2004 when Anthony and Hustle & Flow assistant director Wayne Witherspoon were accused of raping a 25-year-old extra on the set of the film. A woman claimed to have heard screaming, followed by a naked woman running from a trailer. She was later treated at St. Francis Hospital. The Daily Beast reported that Anthony was charged with aggravated rape but was released on a $20K bond. He denies the allegations. A spokesperson for Anthony said in a statement: 'Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of – no less involved in – anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated.' A Memphis judge threw out the case, deeming it 'the most suspicious case I've ever heard.' Anthony has never been convicted of any of the charges brought against him.
