Poverty should not hinder education: Andhra HRD Minister Lokesh at Shining Stars Award event

PARVATHIPURAM-MANYAM: 'We have introduced several educational reforms to make government schools compete with private institutions. I hope we will get good results in the coming four years with these reforms. You should work hard and focus on your studies. The government will take care of the rest of things,' said HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, while presenting Shining Star Awards to SSC and Intermediate toppers at a programme held here on Monday. In all, 95 SSC and 26 Intermediate toppers of government schools and junior colleges received the awards at the programme. Interacting with students, Lokesh highlighted the initiatives taken by the NDA government to improve educational standards in schools. Lokesh took note of the opinions expressed by students at 'Dream Wall', 'Ambition Wall' and 'Gratitude Wall' arranged at the venue. District Incharge Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Gummadi Sandhyarani, Government Whip T Jagadeeswari, Collector A Shyam Prasad, MLAs, MLCs and others participated in the programme.

Shining Star Awards for 223 students in Chittoor

The Chittoor district administration will hold the Shining Star Awards event on Monday (June 9) at the Nagaiah Kalakshetram here. The celebrations will begin at 10 a.m. and felicitate outstanding students from across the district. Speaking to the media on Sunday (June 8), District Collector Sumit Kumar said the government launched the initiative to recognise academic excellence in Class 10 and Intermediate. As many as 223 students, including 190 toppers of SSC examination and 33 toppers of Intermediate examination from 31 mandals will be given the awards. Each of the students will be presented with a commendation certificate, a cash prize of ₹20,000 and a medal. The Collector told the parents and students to bring their Aadhaar or school IDs, study certificates and two passport-size photographs. Every student is entitled to bring one parent along with them. In-charge Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, MLAs from the district and other dignitaries will participate in the event.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Shelby County residents can now nominate a remarkable young person in their lives for a Shelby County Government Rising Star Award. The inaugural event will honor youth 10 to 24-years-old, who have become young leaders, scholars, and changemakers in their community. This includes achievements in leadership, academic excellence, and resiliency. Numerous young people nominated by their peers, teachers, and loved ones, will be honored during the rising stars luncheon, which will be held on June 26 at 11:30am at the Collage Dance Center located at 505 Tillman Street. The program builds on Mayor Lee Harris' Shining Star Awards which have recognized hundreds of adult residents since 2018 who have achieved excellence in areas such as public service, advocacy, and philanthropy. 'Our community is full of incredible young people whose kindness, talent, and leadership may go unrecognized, said Mayor Lee Harris, 'This initiative is to celebrate their contribution and to remind all of us you don't have to wait until adulthood to make a difference.'
