Prakasam collector felicitates ‘Shining Stars'

Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya emphasised that every student should set a goal and work persistently until they achieve it, stating that those who pursue their objectives with unwavering dedication will surely accomplish their dreams. The collector, along with Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao, Santhanuthalapadu MLA BN Vijay Kumar, AP Livestock Development Agency chairman Shaik Reyaz, participated as chief guest to the felicitation to Shining Stars, the 242 Class X and 36 Intermediate students from government schools and colleges who outperformed in the final exams, at Sai Baba Central School in Ongole, on Monday. Each recipient was presented with a certificate, a medal, and a cash prize of Rs 20000. Speaking at the event, collector Ansariya explained that the 'Shining Stars' programme recognises six top-performing students from each mandal in the district. She advised students to set clear goals and work with determination and perseverance to reach great heights, emphasising that persistent effort toward their chosen objectives will lead to success. She urged parents to recognise their children's potential and encourage them according to their capabilities. The Collector expressed hope that students in Prakasam district would excel in their studies, bring honour to the district, and reach new heights of achievement. She also thanked the state government for organising such beneficial programmes. MLA Damacharla Janardan Rao highlighted the importance of education in today's world, noting that the state government implements such programmes to encourage students with the belief that education is key to a bright future. MLA Vijay Kumar emphasised that social development is achievable only through education and that education is the sole path for economically disadvantaged communities to progress. Ongole Mayor Gangada Sujatha stressed that education is the only means to change one's destiny, and reminded students to work toward fulfilling their parents' dreams. Reyaz hoped that Prakasam district would achieve first place in education in the coming days, advising parents that while material assets may be temporary, education serves as a permanent weapon for their children's future. The programme was attended by DEO Kiran Kumar, RIO Simon Victor, education department officials, students, their parents, and other dignitaries.

‘Thalliki Vandanam' scheme will be implemented from this academic year, says Social Welfare Minister

Social Welfare Minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, who is also the in-charge Minister for the Visakhapatnam district, has said that the benefits of the much-awaited 'Thalliki Vandanam' scheme will be distributed to the beneficiaries within a week. He took part in the 'Shining Stars' awards' presentation ceremony at the B.R. Ambedkar Assembly hall on the Andhra University campus here on Monday. The State government has announced the awards to the toppers in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Intermediate annual examinations for the year 2024-25. A total of 121 students, including 83 SSC toppers and 38 Intermediate toppers (six students from each mandal) from across the district, were presented with the awards by the guests. Each winner was presented a cash prize of ₹20,000 in the form of a cheque. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Swamy said that the State government will launch the 'Thalliki Vandanam' scheme this academic year and the amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' accounts within a week. So, students and parents need not worry about it. He said that from this academic year, welfare students of Gurukul schools will be given coaching on IIT and NEET. He urged students to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations to be held in the city on June 21, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest. District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has said that Visakhapatnam students will always be at the top in education and other aspects. He has urged students to stay away from cellphones and IPL cricket matches during their student life for a better career. Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, Government Whip P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu) and others participated. The awardees and their parents expressed happiness on the initiative taken by the government to encourage students.

Minister for Home and Vizianagaram District in-charge, Vangalapudi Anitha, emphasised the importance of academic excellence and good behaviour in children in shaping them into responsible citizens for the future. She urged parents to inculcate good habits in children while also encouraging them to perform well academically. The Home Minister was speaking at the 'Shining Stars' programme held at the convention centre in Vizianagaram on Monday. Alongside Collector B. R. Ambedkar, Ms. Anitha presented certificates, medals, and cheques worth ₹20,000 to 158 meritorious students. 93 of these meritorious students were from government schools, and 65 were from private institutions. Ms. Anitha added that the youth have a bright future, as the government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is striving to develop the State under the Vision-2047 programme. Later, the minister and collector had lunch with the students and enquired with them about their future academic plans.

Anantapur: District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V directed officials from all concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the prestigious 'Shining Stars' programme scheduled to be held on June 9. During a video conference conducted from the Anantapur District Collectorate camp office on Saturday, the Collector reviewed preparations for the Yogandhra Mass Yoga Event, Shining Stars initiative, and the one-year completion of the current State government. The Collector stated that under the Shining Stars initiative, 184 Class 10 students and 35 Intermediate students would be felicitated with a medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹20,000 each. He instructed officials to finalize the venue and ensure that all arrangements are in place for a successful programme. Additionally, he emphasized proper planning for the Yogandhra event to be held on June 8 at Shilparamam in the city. Regarding the completion of one year of the new government on June 12, Dr Vinod Kumar instructed officials to organize inauguration ceremonies on June 11 for various newly sanctioned and ongoing infrastructure projects. He urged department heads to coordinate with local public representatives to make these events impact full. The Collector also emphasized the need to distribute various assets and kickstart development projects in villages, particularly focusing on form ponds and other critical works. He directed Constituency Special Officers to hold meetings with Mandal-level officers and organize constituency-level programmes in coordination. Highlighting a state level event scheduled in Amaravati on June 12 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, he advised informing ministers, public representatives, directors, and district officials to participate. He stressed adopting a team approach and ensuring seamless coordination among departments to execute all the planned activities successfully.

Meritorious students to be presented with ‘Shining Star' awards

The Department of School Education has introduced 'Shining Stars Award' to promote academic excellence. A G.O. released to this effect on Friday (June 6) said meritorious students who secure the highest marks in SSC Public Examinations and students who secure the highest marks in each group — MPC, BiPC, HEC and CEC/MEC — in Intermediate Public Examination would be recognising as 'Shining Stars' and given an award comprising a cash prize of ₹20,000, a merit certificate and a medal. Students from both government and private institutions are eligible. In schools, students who secure 500 and above out of the total 600 marks, i.e. equivalent to 83.33 % and above, among OC, BC, SC, ST and Minority sections would be considered for selection in a particular mandal in the SSC exams. Among Children with Special Needs (CwSN) the eligibility for selection is 70% marks and above. For Intermediate students, those who secure 830 and above marks among OC, BC, SC, ST and Minority sections would be considered for selection from a particular district in the Intermediate Public Examinations of the preceding academic year. Among CwSN, those secure 700 marks and above would be considered for selection. The Director of School Education and the Board of Intermediate Education would respectively prepare the list of students eligible to receive the awards.
