Apple's AI struggle has stretched beyond one year since its AI features were showcased at the WWDC 2024 last year. And it seems the company is looking at exterior solutions to get its ambitions off the tracks which could involve buying another company which has readymade AI tools available from day one. Reports this week suggest Apple has internally considered bidding for Perplexity which is another AI company vying for a spot amongst Google and OpenAI. Bloomberg has quoted sources in its report which clearly highlights the situation over at the Apple Park in Cupertino. These talks have mostly gone through internally, and an actual bid or discussion with the AI company has not happened. Apple's AI Push: Buy Big The report claims Adrian Perica has discussed the deal with Eddy Cue at Apple along with other senior decision makers. It also says that Apple might eventually decide against making an offer but these details are showing us the company's intent to get started maybe using existing platforms rather than invest in building a new one. After all, Perplexity already has an AI assistant, a search engine and plans to build more effective AI tools. The AI company already offers some of these features for iPhone users, which Siri can only dream of right now. Apple is a trillion dollar valued tech giant, which means buying any company will come easy at least with regards to the money. But even if Apple decides to formalise its interest in buying Perplexity, how much would it possibly cost? The AI company will be aware of the desperation at Apple and decide to get the highest price possible, which could be well over $50 billion if not more. This is unlikely to be the last time we hear rumours about Apple strolling the cart looking for a solid product to buy. The company's senior executives were recently grilled in an interview by the Wall Street Journal and you can feel the uneasiness in their body language when Siri AI is brought up and how the AI race has become a tough nut to crack for the iPhone maker in the last 2 years. Last Updated: Apple Siri AI was not part of the WWDC 2025 keynote event and the company is working at pace to have it ready for 2026. Apple's Siri AI got a brief mention at the WWDC 2025 earlier this month which clearly meant the company did not have anything meaningful to share at the event. Apple did tease that we could see the Siri AI-powered version release some time next year, without giving a clearer timeline. We might finally know the details about when the Siri AI could be released and offered to the iPhone users in 2026. The report from Bloomberg suggests the new Siri AI release could be part of the iOS 26.4 version that may be offered around March and April 2026 for the iPhone users. Apple has toned down its AI intelligence features, so much that the term itself did not make any trivia rounds this year. Not Going To Plan Apple's AI struggle has been widely documented in recent weeks and most of its delays are being allegedly attributed to its senior executives missing the AI bus when the competition was working on building tools to build on the hype and the demand. Craig Federighi, who is a core part of Apple's software ecosystem has reportedly been instrumental in these decisions, and that's what has made Apple a chaser rather than a follower in this chase. Apple's executives were candid in an interview with WSJ recently, where both Federighi and Joswiak faced questions that most people have restrained themselves from asking the Cupertino-based giant. Apple has been lauded for its innovation and its focus on privacy, and some of that remains true even today. But the AI push needs more impetus and an acceptance that the competition is well ahead right now. While Vivo X200 FE is gaining much attention, OnePlus 13s has already set the bar high for compact flagships with a powerful processor, a massive battery, stylish design, and other. Therefore, both smartphones may offer a pleasing experience. The Vivo X200 FE is tipped to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, and it is likely to be paired with up to 16GB of RAM. On the other hand, the OnePlus 13s is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Therefore, OnePlus 13s could be slightly better in performance, offering a smooth multitasking and gaming experience. Coming to the camera, the Vivo X200 FE will likely feature a triple camera setup that may include a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with a Sony IMX882 sensor, offering 3x optical zoom capabilities, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. On the other hand, the OnePlus 13s features a dual camera setup that consists of a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYT-700 sensor, and a 50MP telephoto camera with a Samsung JN5 sensor and 2x optical zoom. For selfies, the X200 FE may rely on a 50MP front-facing camera, and the OnePlus 13s features a 32MP selfie camera. The OnePlus 13s was launched in India with a starting price of Rs.54999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. Whereas, the Vivo X200 FE is also expected to be priced around Rs.55000 to Rs.60000 in India.
