Nasty C's new adventure: Exploring everyday jobs beyond music

Nasty C embarks on a labour journey, going from mechanic to barber. Image: Instagram Rapper Nasty C is switching things up by trading in his mic for a toolbox. The artist, known for his top-charting hits, has embarked on a new project where he is exploring everyday jobs to gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to be a hardworking individual. In a recent Instagram Reel (video) captioned: 'This was fun! What job should I do next?' Nasty C shared that he will be embarking on a mission of trying out different work spaces to get a sense of what normal people go through at their day to day jobs as part of a new series. 'What's up, guys? So, I'm gonna be doing this thing for a couple of days where I go to a lot of people's different workspaces to get a sense of what people's version of working hard looks like. 'I'm a musician, you guys know what my version of working hard looks like. It's late hours, it's studio time, it's shoots and all that kinda stuff,' he says in the video. 'I wanna get a sense of what normal people go through at work,' he adds. In the video, the rapper is seen actively working at a panel beater on a client's car, fixing the car's wheel alignment. The 'Black And White' hitmaker is calling on his fans to suggest other jobs he should try out and employers to hire him. Nasty C's fans are excited about the project, with many suggesting jobs ranging from Shoprite cashier to e-hailing driver. The comments section is filled with enthusiastic responses from his fans eager to see what other professions the rapper will take on as they suggest different jobs. Instagram user @wothi_mthiyane commented: "DM me, I'll take you to a mining site for environmental inspections." While @luckyred504 suggested: 'I work at McDonald's, It would surely be nice to see you laying patties on the grill or assembling burgers like a 'Big Mac' 😀👏.' In episode two of his series, the next stop for the rapper is the barber shop. In his latest video which he shared on YouTube, he is seen gearing up to give a client a haircut working as a barber. Interestingly, this series of job explorations could potentially be incorporated into a music video for his recent single 'Soft', which speaks to the idea of working hard and being paid enough to live comfortably. The song's themes of hard work and dedication align perfectly with Nasty C's latest offering and fans are speculating that the series could contribute to a visually pleasing music video that showcases the rapper portraying his experiences of various professions. This is not the first time Nasty C has involved his fans in his creative process. The 28-year-old rapper has always had an unconventional approach to his music. In March, he handed over the reins to his fans from all across Africa, allowing them to decide on potential tour stops for the 'Ivyson' tour Africa. Prior to that, he also asked students to nominate their universities for a special show, further blurring the lines between artist and fan. Nasty C's approach to music and fan engagement is refreshingly different from the norm, and his fans and industry peers agree. Rapper Kid X also commented under Nasty C's post, stating that Nasty C has 'always been different". He has never been one to conform to traditional rapper stereotypes but instead forges his own path and constantly reinvents himself.

NHS urges Tesco shoppers to read important life saving labels in store

The warning comes amid a new collaboration between the NHS and the supermarket giant on Tesco's own brand Luxury Soft toilet rolls. The NHS is encouraging Tesco shoppers to 'keep an eye out' and 'contact your GP practice if something doesn't feel right'. This health warning has been issued as Tesco's own brand-Luxury Soft toilet rolls now feature the NHS logo on the packaging. The collaboration between the NHS and the supermarket giant has been established to increase awareness surrounding bowel cancer among consumers. An NHS post on X, formerly known as Twitter, reads: "Keep an eye out for our logo on @Tesco toilet roll-78.9 million rolls sold and counting!" ‌ The initiative serves as a reminder for people to be aware of potential cancer symptoms when going to the bathroom. The NHS emphasises: "It's a reminder for people to look out for possible signs of cancer when going to the loo. Know what's normal for you and contact your GP practice if something doesn't feel right." ‌ Printed underneath the NHS logo on the toilet roll is the note: "Finding cancer earlier makes it more treatable and can save lives." Further details are provided on the back of the pack. The packaging also lists warning signs of cancer that may be visible during toilets visits like alterations in stool and the presence of blood. ‌ For more detailed information on cancer symptoms, the public is advised to visit the NHS website here. Symptoms of bowel cancer: changes in your stool, such as having softer stool, diarrhoea or constipation that is not usual for you needing to go to the toilet more or less often than usual for you blood in your stool, which may look red or black bleeding from your bottom often feeling like you need to empty your bowels, even if you've just been to the toilet tummy pain a lump in your tummy bloating losing weight without trying feeling very tired or short of breath – these are signs of anaemia, which can be caused by bowel cancer ‌ Many of these symptoms can be quite common and may also arise from various other health conditions. Experiencing these symptoms does not necessarily mean that you have cancer but it is essential you consult a GP for a check-up if you notice anything abnormal. If cancer is the cause behind your symptoms, early detection may make treatment more manageable. ‌ If anyone experiences symptoms of bowel cancer for three weeks or more, they should speak to a medical professional. The NHS reassures: "Try not to be embarrassed. The doctor or nurse will be used to talking about these symptoms. "If you notice your poo is black or dark red, or if you're experiencing bloody diarrhoea, it's crucial to seek an urgent GP appointment or get assistance from NHS 111. You can reach out by calling 111 or using the online help available at 111." ‌ Cancer can come in over 200 different forms and can affect any part of the body, including organs, blood, bone marrow, and the immune system. Sometimes, cancer can spread from its original site to other parts of the body, a process known as secondary cancer or metastasis. The type of cancer you have will determine the treatment you receive. ‌ Common cancer treatments include surgery to remove the tumour, chemotherapy with drugs that destroy cancer cells, and radiotherapy that uses radiation to target and kill cancer cells. Other treatment options might involve immunotherapy, which boosts your immune system to fight cancer, and hormone therapy, which aims to slow down or stop the growth of cancerous cells. The NHS assures patients: "You'll be looked after by a team of specialists who will work with you to create a treatment plan that is best for you."

Six highlights from the AMAs - from J. Lo's kiss to Billie Eilish's wins

There were big wins for Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Eminem and Sir Rod Stewart at the American Music Awards (AMAs). Monday's event in Las Vegas was hosted - and in some ways dominated - by the evening's host, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. There were also peformances from stars including Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani and another award-winner, Janet Jackson. Here's some key takeaways from the ceremony. Billie Eilish won seven prizes at the fan-voted awards show, sweeping most of the major catergories in the process, including artist and album of the year - for Hit Me Hard and Soft - as well as song of the year, Birds of a Feather. The singer, 23, who also won the award for favourite touring artist, was not there to collect her awards in person however, as she was busy doing precisely that - being on tour in Europe. Eminem took home the awards for favourite male hip-hop artist and favourite hip-hop album, but he wasn't there either. And nor was favourite female country artist-winner Beyoncé, who won favourite country album. With many stars not in attendance, the focus fell almost fully on host Jennifer Lopez - aka J. Lo. The star, 55, danced to a medley of hits including Eilish's Birds of a Feather, Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso and Beyoncé's Texas Hold 'Em. But she will be remembered most on the night for having locked lips both male and female dancers during her performances. One viewer joked online that it made them "cringe", while another said the singer had "lost the plot". The sweat dripping emoji was used by another fan to describe the situation. Sir Rod Stewart got a huge surprise on stage when he was presented with the lifetime achievement award by his children. The father-of-eight seemed shocked to be introduced to the stage by five of his own grown-up kids. "I'm absolutely flabbergasted," said Sir Rod. "I didn't know they were here - my children." The former Faces frontman, 80, thanked his bandmates, past and present, noting how when he was young he had a "burning ambition to sing". "That's all I wanted to do. I didn't want to be rich or famous. And here I am a few years later, picking up this wonderful award," he said. Sing is precisely what he then did, performing his 1988 track Forever Young. Another highlight on the night for many on social media it seems was Shaboozey's reaction to Megan Moroney declaring that the Carter Family "basically invented country music". The Carter Family - which featured singer June Carter who later went on to perform with her husband Johnny Cash - was an influential American folk music group that recorded and performed between the 1920s and 1950s. Shaboozey, whose hits include A Bar Song (Tipsy), appeared to pause and give Moroney a slightly sceptical look before letting out a little laugh in response, while they were jointly presenting an award. The Hollywood Reporter noted Shaboozey's apparent "side eye" look soon went viral. But you knew that already, right? Janet Jackson, 59, collected the icon award and showed why by performing a medley of her songs including Someone to Call My Lover and All for You. "I'm so grateful. I mean, no disrespect in any way, but I don't consider myself an icon," she said. Echoing Sir Rod, she added: "My family, myself, our dream wasn't ever to be famous; we weren't raised like that." She continued: "We always had a special love for music, dancing and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication." Or is this look more Captain Hook? The back-flipping pop star performed on the night and he looked resplendent in his green suit jacket and trousers while posing for pictures on the red carpet. The 22-year-old changed into a floral purple number for his typically acrobatic live performance of recent single Mystical Magical. Other performances on the night saw Gloria Estefan celebrate the legacy of Latin music by doing the Conga, and Gwen Stefani celebrate her noughties hits. Other winners on the night included R&B singer SZA, Post Malone, Gracie Abrams and Becky G, as well as Kendrick Lamar and collaborators Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. Check out the full list of winners here, and a video of the action below.

New Look's lightweight £27 'jeans' that 'don't cling to legs'

These trousers offer the appearance of jeans but have a comfortable secret that most shoppers appreciate It's never a safe bet to just fill your wardrobe with shorts and hope for the sun to last all summer long. In Britain, there's a high chance of the weather turning wet and cool at a moment's notice, so shoppers would be wise to invest in some trousers. But if stuffy jeans don't sound all that appealing for the warmer months, New Look has a solution. These Soft Denim Trousers come in two shades, with a lighter and darker look, and both cost £26.99. Each have quickly become one of the most popular items on the brand's website with New Look claiming these trousers are perfect for women who "want the look of denim with more comfort". These "comfy" pants are designed with a "drawstring waist and roomy wide legs" allowing for maximum comfort compared to traditional jeans. There are plenty of denim-lookalike trousers available elsewhere at affordable prices. Shoppers could try UNIQLO's Drapey Wide Flare Jeans for £34.90 or Zara's Loose-Fitting Denim Trousers for £27.99. Shoppers at New Look were very impressed with both types of trousers, which each have a near flawless review score of 4.7 and 4.8 out of five stars. One said: "Lovely and comfy trousers material is so soft and washed very nice." Another added: "Lovely fitting, perfect for summer evenings. [Made with] a comfortable material." A third wrote: "Great length and lightweight for summer! So comfy, I love them!" Someone else said: "The material is actually thicker than I thought it would be." But they added: "These are really nice summer pants. I think I'm going to get them in the other colour, too." Size and comfort seemed to matter most to shoppers, and one shared their advice with people planning to get a pair of these trousers for themselves. They wrote in their review: "Lovely comfortable trousers [that are] slightly generous in size. I am a size 10-12, and the 10 fits perfectly." Someone else added: "Lovely trousers, little bit on the big side so size down!" And there was one more shopper who shared: "Love these trousers as they're the perfect jean colour to go with any top without having them clung to your leg during the summer weather! They are long, I'm 5ft and had to take them up 2.5inches but the wide leg makes them so breathable in the warm weather." New Look offers free click-and-collect to shops if you spend over £25 on one order. These jeans, available in sizes 6 to 18, could also be delivered directly to shoppers at home - but this comes with a £2.99 fee for standard delivery or £5.99 for next day (unless you spend more than £50).
