MBR Marks 30 Years Of Recognising Malaysian Excellence, Resilience

Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) Chief Executive Officer Christopher Wong spoke to Bernama in conjunction with the Malaysia Book of Records’ 30th Anniversary Celebration recognising the excellence and resilience of Malaysians at Q Sentral recently. --fotoBERNAMA (2025) HAK CIPTA TERPELIHARA Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) Chief Executive Officer Christopher Wong when met by Bernama in conjunction with the Malaysia Book of Records' 30th Anniversary Celebration recognising the excellence and resilience of Malaysians at Q Sentral recently. --fotoBERNAMA (2025) HAK CIPTA TERPELIHARA By Kuvineshwaren Nedunjelian KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) has evolved its identity over the past three decades, while remaining steadfast in its mission to celebrate the spirit of human excellence among Malaysians. Established in 1995, MBR has become synonymous with recognising extraordinary achievements and is now proudly marking its 30th anniversary. MBR chief executive officer Christopher Wong, who has helmed the organisation since 2015, said MBR has grown beyond just being a record-keeping organisation, but it now serves as a powerful certification platform that empowers individuals and corporations to strengthen their brand identity. 'In the beginning, when we grew up looking at Guinness World Records, it's all about achievements when it comes to things like the tallest person, the fastest person, or the shortest person, or anything that's longest in terms of architecture, or in terms of anything else that's measurable. 'But now fast forward 30 years, MBR has now evolved to become like a branding activation platform, where we look at this organisation as a body that certifies achievements by many individuals and even corporate companies are looking to brand themselves with such feats,' he told Bernama in an exclusive interview. Wong emphasised that while the organisation's core mission of recognising records remains unchanged, MBR is working to adapt to the changing media landscape, moving to focus on meaningful and inspirational content in the near future. Since joining MBR, Wong has overseen over 5,000 records and one record however, continues to leave a profound impact on him, a testament to sheer human willpower by double amputee Azzrulkhan Hasrullah Matsah, better known as Adam. 'He (Adam) crawled up to the summit of Mount Kinabalu in 2016. That takes a lot of grit, perseverance, and discipline. I have done Mount Kinabalu. I mean, with able legs, it's not easy.

Alam Flora promotes reusable bags at Temerloh Sunday market

TEMERLOH: Alam Flora Sdn Bhd launched its 'Bring Your Own Reusable Bag' campaign at Pekan Sehari Temerloh, distributing 300 reusable bags to visitors. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the environmental harm caused by single-use plastics. Alam Flora chief operating officer Mohamad Muhazni Mukhtar said the campaign highlights the long decomposition period of plastic bags and encourages sustainable alternatives. 'We want to promote consistent use of reusable bags to help preserve the environment,' he said during the launch at the morning market. The campaign follows a similar effort during the Ramadan Festival in Putrajaya. Pekan Sehari Temerloh was chosen due to its recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country's longest Sunday market, spanning 2.1 kilometres. Mohamad Muhazni added that the programme, organised with various agencies, focuses on awareness rather than profit. 'We must engage consumers directly to drive behavioural change,' he said. Temerloh Municipal Council president Rizal Mustafa expressed full support for the initiative. 'We welcome programmes that positively impact the public and the environment,' he said. - Bernama

Alam Flora launches reusable bag campaign in Temerloh

TEMERLOH: A total of 300 reusable bags were distributed by Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) to visitors of the Pekan Sehari Temerloh here today in conjunction with the 'Bring Your Own Reusable Bag' Campaign. Alam Flora chief operating officer Mohamad Muhazni Mukhtar said the campaign was aimed at raising public awareness of the negative impact of using plastic bags on the environment, including pollution and the destruction of ecosystems. "We want to promote the use of reusable bags among the public because single-use plastic bags take a very long time to decompose. "This initiative is aimed at raising awareness and, in the long term, encouraging consistent use to help preserve the environment," he told reporters after launching the campaign at the morning market. The Bring Your Own Reusable Bag Campaign is a continuation of an initiative previously carried out by Alam Flora during the Ramadan Festival in Putrajaya. Mohamad Muhazni said Pekan Sehari Temerloh was chosen as the campaign venue in view of its recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest and longest Sunday market in the country, stretching 2.1km. "This programme, organised in collaboration with various agencies, is not profit-oriented but more about creating awareness. "It must also be aligned with the target market segment, and we need to reach out to consumers rather than wait for them to come to us," he said. Meanwhile, Temerloh Municipal Council president Rizal Mustafa said the council welcomed and fully supported the campaign. "I fully support initiatives like this, and we will support any programme that directly impacts the public," he said. – Bernama
