You can't pass through the terminals without hearing the familiar voice of Mayor Andre Dickens telling us so. But as a self-described aviation geek, I know it's not the only one in town. I grew up in the shadow of Dobbins Air Force Base, where I still hear the weekly drills with massive military planes on Thursday evenings. We also have several airports serving private planes, including DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), Cobb County International Airport (also known as McCollum), and Fulton County Airport (also known as Charlie Brown Field). Because of the pure sprawl of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, at over 4,000 acres, it's safe to say there are plenty of places with an 'airport view.' But this Southern-style cafeteria on the northeast end, only open for weekday lunch, is worth planning around. Sit near the large windows over a plate of baked chicken, turnip greens, and apple cobbler. 3670 Georgia Avenue, Hapeville, Georgia 30354, United States (404) 763-0707 Sitting beneath the flight path on the northern end of Hartsfield since 1979, you've definitely driven by Spondivits and its bright neon sign and shark statue. Folks come for the award-winning clam chowder and overflowing buckets of crab legs. If you're looking to hang around, sample the tropical drinks as it stays open until the eye-watering hour of 4 a.m. Jebena Bistro is one of several restaurants on this stretch of Clairmont Road, straddling Brookhaven and Chamblee, making it an unexpected Ethiopian enclave across from PDK. Open for breakfast and dinner, diners can enjoy Ethiopian-style eggs, cooked with tomatoes and peppers, with injera bread and a side of strong coffee. Sit on the patio to take in the plane views. 3654 Clairmont Road, Chamblee, Georgia 30341, United States (404) 987-4466 The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant in Chamblee sits alongside the southern end of PDK's runway with a loyal following over the past 40 years. With vintage planes parked out front and bric-a-brac covering the walls, it's a popular spot for the aviation set, including my late uncle who was a pilot. For lunch, you can chow down on the prime rib sandwich and buffalo dip. But on weekends, bring your dancing shoes for line dancing. 3829 Clairmont Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341 (770) 234-0057 (770) 234-0057 Visit Website Also at PDK, this second restaurant also leans into its aviation theme. Downwind has been family-owned and operated for over 35 years above a hangar. The outdoor patio is the best spot for watching planes take off, especially the scenic biplane rides that operate out of the airport. Enjoy your burgers and club sandwiches over live music. There's even a playground next door. 2000 Airport Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341 (770) 452-0973 (770) 452-0973 Visit Website Dobbins has a huge footprint in Marietta, so you don't have to go far to see planes on the 10,000-foot-long runway. Bernhard's has been crafting German-style bread and pastries since 1999. Since there's no seating, snag the Bavarian breakfast, with a pretzel, mustard, and sausage, or an apple strudel, and take it to The Aviation History & Technology Center, with 15 (now grounded) aircrafts to admire. The strip mall restaurant Falafel Cafe sits between Dobbins and Life University, where it has been for decades. As the name would imply, it's known for its falafel and hummus, plus traditional Turkish coffee and baklava. The patio feels like a little parking lot oasis with foliage and a fountain, only disrupted by the sound of incoming planes.

(Image: 2025 Getty Images ) On Monday, June 23 Lana Del Rey kicked off her UK and Ireland tour in Cardiff's Principality Stadium. She stepped out on to "one of the most detailed and distinctive sets", which consisted a full Southern-style house sat in the centre, surrounded by a swamp-like set with greenery, a willow tree, and soft fairy lights. Very Lana. The show had mixed reviews from fans as some criticised the length of the set and questioned its suitability for a stadium venue, while others "loved it". The night was filled with tears from both the crowd and the singer as she declared, "I truly love you Cardiff." ‌ Lana has since taken to social media to share her love for the country, and thanking the audience for "showing out for our first show." From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here . ‌ She shared on Instagram: "Thank you so much Wales for being with us and showing out for our first show. I was so happy to be there and so was the band." Lana added: "Sending all my love" Content cannot be displayed without consent Article continues below Fans shared their admiration for the singer in the comments of the post. One person said: "i loved it girl wouldn't wanna be anywhere else." Another added: "the set is so beautiful. can't wait to see the rest of the tour." The singer is celebrated for chart-topping tracks such as Summertime Sadness, Born to Die, Video Games, and Young and Beautiful, graced Wales with her presence for the first time, despite her infrequent UK shows. ‌ Before the concert, speculation was rife amongst her fanbase, with some doubting whether she would perform at all. However, their concerns were alleviated when they spotted the songstress post-rehearsal the previous night, where she warmly engaged with fans who serenaded her with Happy Birthday, celebrating her recent 40th. Despite the buzz, the star's latest spectacle seems to have slightly missed the mark for some attendees. A common grievance was her tardiness, arriving just shy of 9pm, reminiscent of her Glastonbury stint two years prior when she faced a mic cut-off for being half an hour late, attributing the delay to her hair preparations. Some concertgoers expressed frustration with the length of the performance, citing the 1 hour and 20 minute-long show as underwhelming for a stadium event, especially when compared to artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé who often perform for over three hours. You can read more here. Article continues below On X, one fan wrote: "Lana Del Rey that Cardiff concert was SO crap. 1h20min concert with Lana hiding behind the stage for 20 min while playback plays." Tickets are still available for the rest of the UK tour on Ticketmaster. Lana Del Rey will be performing in Scotland, Liverpool and Dublin before the tour comes to a close under the Wembley arches on July 4.

Red Lobster's new seafood boil bags and $5 drinks ignite online frenzy

Red Lobster is making waves in the restaurant industry with the launch of its new seafood boil bags and $5 drink deals, a bold move led by recently appointed CEO Damola Adamolekun. The menu revamp comes in the wake of the company's recent bankruptcy proceedings, marking a significant step in the chain's effort to rebuild its brand and customer loyalty. The introduction of customizable seafood boil bags—a popular Southern-style dish—has become the centerpiece of Red Lobster's refreshed offerings. Lana Del Rey wipes away tears as she kicks off UK tour in Cardiff with magical show full of emotion

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Mystery swirled around Lana Del Rey's first-ever show in the Welsh capital. For many Welsh fans, including myself, it was the first time watching her perform live. It brought a sense of anticipation to the Principality Stadium, where Lana chose to kick off her UK and Ireland tour. In the days leading up the gig, I did a deep dive into her discography, scrolled through TikTok for outfit inspiration and scanned possible set lists. For Harry Styles fans, the uniform is clear - cowboy hats and feather boas. Swifties come dressed in shimmering tributes to their favourite era. But Lana? Her audiences defies a dress code. The vibe is less costume, more muted colours, vintage touches and thrifted lace. The unpredictability extended far beyond outfits. Some fans warned she'd take to the stage late, others insisted we'd hear nothing older than Chemtrails over the Country Club. One fan confidently declared there would be no Video Games, while another swore she always ends with it. No one really knew what to expect. As we waited for the gig to start, I had a chance to scope out the staging, which was one of the most detailed and distinctive sets I've ever seen at a stadium show. A full Southern-style house sat in the centre, surrounded by a swamp-like set with greenery, a willow tree, and soft fairy lights. There were dozens of lit candlesticks dotted around, and even a small pond. It was ethereal to look at and like a movie set. False alarms rippled through the crowd. A dancer that many mistook as Ms Del Rey herself appeared briefly to take a photo, flashing two peace signs at the eager crowd, then vanished backstage again. A smoke machine test sparked another few shouts before a bout of more waiting. Finally the woman herself appeared, 20 minutes overdue but to no less excitement. Known for her cinematic sound and melancholic ballads like Born to Die, West Coast and Young and Beautiful, Lana was completely spellbinding. Emerging in a blue and white floral dress, she looked like she stepped right out of a fifties film. But what really struck me was how deeply emotional she appeared. Singing her opening song, Stars Fell on Alabama, she actually paused a few times to wipe away tears and steady herself. Towards the end of the song, she walked over to her husband Jeremy Dufrene who was standing in the wings. The two shared a passionate kiss in front of thousands, the camera connected to the big screens not even shying away. I am not sure if this was entirely scripted but it matched the mood of the song and felt very raw. (Image: Lois McCarthy) After this intimate moment, she told the crowd: "They're good tears. Funny to think about it in front of so many people." From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here Her emotional confession prompted a loud cheer of support from the Cardiff, which Lana graciously accepted, stating: "I truly love you Cardiff." She went on to explain that this was her first major show since she has gotten married. Suddenly the setting - which had whispers of Louisiana made a whole lot of sense - was this possibly, homage to her alligator guide husband? That emotional openness stayed with her through much of the show. She often touched her heart, looking over to the side of the stage where her family stood. The show unfolded in chapters. There were long pauses and interludes — some filled with soft jazz, others soundtracked by the orchestra, who sat tucked to the left of the stage most of the evening. Backing dancers in a white dress weaved in and out of the willow tree, while inside the house, silhouettes passed behind lit windows of the house. Lana seemed to grow in confidence as the set continued, and for me Chemtrails Over the Country Club was a major turning point of the evening. To hear the lyrics "You're in the wind, I'm in the water / Nobody's son, nobody's daughter," sang live was a proper pinch me moment. It was paired with haunting, theatrical choreography — her dancers moving like spirits, casting an eerie spell over the stage. Ultraviolence, on the other hand, was chaotic and commanding, with dancers, acrobatics, strobe lighting and thick plumes of smoke turning the stage into something darker and heavier. It was jampacked, a bit much for the eye but I absolutely loved this performance. However, a small part of me wished that was later in the set, when the sky had gone darker. Still, it electrified the crowd and brought a powerful surge of energy to the evening. Ride was another standout; a track that clearly held deep meaning for the fans. As the camera swept across the crowd, you could see people singing their hearts out, shouting every lyric like it was written just for them. Despite all the grandeur, the most powerful moments were the simplest. In what may seem like a very basic take, Video Games was a genuine high point for me — a stadium-wide singalong of a ballad prompted full body goosebumps. I was genuinely caught off guard by how magical it felt. Lana stood almost still, letting the crowd take the lead, her voice joining in when it mattered most. After that, she took a quick water break, giving the crowd a welcome moment to breathe. She disappeared into the house set, and the audience waited in quiet anticipation. Interestingly, she didn't appear on stage for the next two songs- Norman F*****g Rockwell and Arcadia. Instead, a pre-recorded video of Lana was projected in a window of the house. It was a curious choice — slightly disorienting and, for me, not the strongest part of the night. But she won me back when she stepped on stage again for Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Toward the end of the song, one of her backing singers threw in some wild ad-libs that brought a fun, unexpected energy. It almost felt like a girl group moment; Lana and her three singers standing in a line, harmonising, signing to each other and the crowd. In one striking moment, a dollhouse was wheeled on stage before being engulfed in projected flames, as orchestral swells echoed through the stadium. At times, it felt less like a concert and more like the score to a Southern gothic film playing out in real time. The first half of the show closed with a stunning visual: the house set seemingly going up in flames. Fire was projected onto the structure as smoke poured from the scene, all set to a sweeping, cinematic score. It was a powerful moment — a reminder of just how much thought and detail had gone into the stage design. More than a concert, it felt like we were witnessing a story unfold in real time. Young and Beautiful was unbelievable, and I would go as far to say my highlight of the night. I went in knowing that this was my most anticipated track and I was far from disappointed. The performance felt like a wedding scene come to life, with Lana gracefully walking down an aisle-like platform into the crowd, her dancers trailing a long, flowing train behind her. As the song swelled, she was lifted high above the stage, water cascading beneath the platform while golden light bathed the audience in a warm glow. As I recovered, the show continued with hits like Summertime Sadness, sultry and smooth, before a rock-infused performance of Born to Die, which jolted the energy back into the room. In a swift shift, she then sang 57.5 — a newer track that added a playful, lighthearted edge to the set. (Image: Lois McCarthy) In what was an equally confusing and intriguing final act, she stepped down into the crowd, chatting with fans, exchanging quiet words, rearranging something we couldn't quite see from my area. What came next felt entirely spontaneous; a brief, almost rogue a cappella performance of Salvatore, clearly prompted by a fan's request. Singing directly to that lucky listener, Lana delivered a haunting rendition in her signature smooth tone; a moment unlike anything I'd ever experienced at a concert before. Having heard her biggest hits throughout the night, I was eager to see how she would close the show — and I have to admit, I didn't see this coming. Lana surprised everyone with a surprisingly joyful finale, performing Country Roads. It was a pure, unfiltered moment of happiness, with the crowd dancing together under warm lights for what felt like the first time all evening. The show was full of twists and surprises, and I never quite knew what to expect next, which perfectly mirrored how I felt walking into the concert. Lana may have seemed a bit nervous at the start, but as the set went on, she truly found her stride. Her storytelling was nothing short of masterful, and her voice—honestly—remains top-tier. That said, I can't help but wonder… where was Cinnamon Girl?
