More than 40 school girls take part in sports taster day
More than 40 girls have taken part in a sports taster day. The event, led by Sport Pembrokeshire, took place at Ysgol Bro Gwaun on July 7 and offered a range of activities including gymnastics, archery, taekwondo and zorb balling. There was also cricket, fitness sessions, netball, hockey and rowing. The day was supported by community clubs and providers, with help from the school's young ambassadors. Dan Bellis from Sport Pembrokeshire said: "We had a fantastic fun-filled morning of activities and a great time was had by all. "A big thanks to all the girls for their energy, effort and enthusiasm and to all the deliverers and local providers for supporting this event." He said it was especially rewarding to hear that even those who don't usually enjoy sport found the day fun. Water and fruit were donated by Princes Gate and Morrisons, and additional goodies by local businesses.

Pembrokeshire ALN pupils given chance to try new sports
The event was sponsored by Valero and supported by young ambassadors (Image: Pembrokeshire County Council) Pupils with additional learning needs have been given the opportunity to try new sports in a supportive environment. Two ALN multisport community events, organised by Sport Pembrokeshire, took place in June, offering taster sessions delivered by local clubs and organisations. Advertisement The first event was held at Pembroke Leisure Centre on Tuesday, June 24, with a second event hosted at Fishguard Leisure Centre two days later. Elgan Vittle of Sport Pembrokeshire said: "The aim of the events is to promote confidence, social interaction, and physical wellbeing, while encouraging participants to explore new activities in a safe and welcoming environment. "By working closely with schools and community partners, we strive to ensure that every young person—regardless of ability—has access to positive, meaningful sporting experiences that celebrate participation, effort, and fun." Schools in attendance included Tenby Primary, Monkton, and Portfield in the south, and Glannau Gwaun, Waldo Williams, Penrhyn Dewi, and Johnston in the north. Advertisement A total of 62 pupils took part in activities led by Clarbeston Warriors Football Club, Arts Care Dance, Fishguard and Goodwick Hockey, Scarlets, and Super 1s Disability & Haverfordwest Cricket Club. Mr Vittle said: "The feedback was fantastic from all the schools and pupils including the staff really had a great time and we're hoping that quite a few young people will now join some local clubs as a direct result of this event." Pembrokeshire pupils enjoy special sports event

The event, held at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun on June 11, had 65 pupils from Years 4, 5, and 6 as well as the ALN unit participating. Advertisement They enjoyed rugby, cricket, hockey, archery, and golf sessions run by local community clubs and young ambassadors from Ysgol Bro Gwaun. Sharon Osborne from Ysgol Glannau Gwaun said: "Thanks to Sport Pembrokeshire for organising a fantastic morning of activities for our pupils. "They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves." Dan Bellis of Sport Pembrokeshire added: "A big thanks to Fishguard & Goodwick Hockey Club, Fishguard and Goodwick Rugby Club, and the Young Ambassadors from Ysgol Bro Gwaun for putting on a fabulous morning of activities in glorious sunshine. "A big well done to all the pupils from Ysgol Glannau Gwaun for their effort and enthusiasm throughout the morning."
