The first event was held at Pembroke Leisure Centre on Tuesday, June 24, with a second event hosted at Fishguard Leisure Centre two days later.
Elgan Vittle of Sport Pembrokeshire said: "The aim of the events is to promote confidence, social interaction, and physical wellbeing, while encouraging participants to explore new activities in a safe and welcoming environment.
"By working closely with schools and community partners, we strive to ensure that every young person—regardless of ability—has access to positive, meaningful sporting experiences that celebrate participation, effort, and fun."
Schools in attendance included Tenby Primary, Monkton, and Portfield in the south, and Glannau Gwaun, Waldo Williams, Penrhyn Dewi, and Johnston in the north.

A total of 62 pupils took part in activities led by Clarbeston Warriors Football Club, Arts Care Dance, Fishguard and Goodwick Hockey, Scarlets, and Super 1s Disability & Haverfordwest Cricket Club.
Mr Vittle said: "The feedback was fantastic from all the schools and pupils including the staff really had a great time and we're hoping that quite a few young people will now join some local clubs as a direct result of this event."
The events were sponsored by Valero, with support from young ambassadors from Ysgol Harri Tudur and Ysgol Bro Gwaun.

Arsenal appoint Gabriel Heinze to join Mikel Arteta's coaching staff

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze has joined Mikel Arteta's coaching staff at Arsenal. The club have confirmed the Argentine's appointment following the departure of former assistant Carlos Cuesta, who became the head coach of Serie A team Parma last month. Heinze will work alongside Arteta, having previously been teammates at Paris Saint-Germain in 2001-02. Advertisement Heinze joins Albert Stuivenberg, set-piece coach Nico Jover, and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana, who have all been at the club since 2021, in Arteta's coaching team. Further changes to Arsenal's staff have seen Under-21 coach Mehmet Ali depart to join Keith Andrews' backroom team at Brentford, while Andrea Berta was appointed as the club's new sporting director in March. His most recent position saw him spend a year-long stint as head coach of Newell's Old Boys, where his playing career began. In September, Arteta named Heinze as one of the main inspirations throughout his career, alongside United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino: 'Those two were next to me all the time, behind me, and they were guiding me in everything I had to do in my professional life, how I had to understand the game and they were inspirational to me.' Heinze won league titles at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Marseille as well as an Olympic gold medal with Argentina in Athens in 2004 during his playing career. He also won 72 caps for his national team and was a Copa America runner-up twice. Arsenal secured their third consecutive second-placed Premier League finish in the 2024-25 season, while reaching the semi-final of the Champions League, where they were defeated by eventual winners PSG.

Euro 2025: Wales team bus involved in road traffic crash en route to practice

ST. GALLEN, Switzerland (AP) — The Wales team bus was involved in a road traffic crash on Tuesday and its training session was canceled at the stadium where it plays France at the Women's European Championship. The Welsh Football Association said in a statement all the people involved — players and staff on the bus and in the other vehicle — were unharmed in the incident en route to the stadium in St. Gallen. Wales coach Rhian Wilkinson travelled separately from the team to the stadium for a news conference one day ahead of Wednesday's game. 'Football is secondary and I think, yes, we are shaken because we are away from the team right now knowing that they've had to experience that,' Wilkinson said in comments reported by the BBC. FAW said its priority 'has been to remove the players from the scene and return to the Cymru training base to complete their preparations for tomorrow's match.' Wales plays France in the second Group D game for both at Euro 2025. Wales lost to the Netherlands 3-0 on Saturday and France beat defending champion England 2-1. ___ AP soccer:
