Report: Grizzlies' Cedric Coward expected to be ready for training camp
Memphis Grizzlies forward Cedric Coward is reportedly expected to be ready for the start of training camp ahead of his rookie campaign, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. Coward didn't participate in the NBA Summer League as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury that limited him to six games last season at Washington State. He was considered doubtful to play and didn't join the team until July 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 11th pick said after the draft that he felt like he could play in the desert, but added that the decision to clear him would likely be made by the organization. A team executive told Smith that Coward is expected to be cleared when the team convenes in late September. On drafting Cedric Coward: 'We're so excited about having him. Cedric is going to be really good for us. He should be ready to go for camp. You have to have good wings to win big in our league, and I think Cedric with Jaylen (Wells) is going to be great for us,' a Grizzlies front office executive said. Coward averaged 17.7 points, seven rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 blocks on 40% shooting from 3-point range (12-of-30) last season as a senior. He produced a season-high 30 points and three assists on Nov. 18 in a win over Northern Colorado. The 21-year-old is highly touted for his ability to score at all three levels and defend multiple positions, boasting a 7-foot, 2 1/4-inch wingspan. He had a rapid rise after beginning at Willamette University (Division III) and playing two seasons at Eastern Washington. Coward was highly sought after by the Grizzlies and projects to be a player who can contribute immediately. They believe he has a bright future ahead and are eager to get him back on the court.

What is Caitlin Clark's WNBA salary? How much do players make?
Aside from the skills displayed at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game and events this weekend in Indianapolis, a major focal point created by the various All-Stars was the need for increased compensation for players across the league. As a result of the historic rise in the league's overall popularity during the 2024 season, the players' union opted out of the current WNBA collective bargaining agreement last October with hopes of striking a new deal that provides improved benefits, with increased player compensation being at the forefront of their agenda. In response to the players' union classifying their Thursday meeting with the league on a new CBA as a "missed opportunity," players wore t-shirts that read "Pay Us What You Owe Us" during warmups of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night. With WNBA player salaries a topic of national discussion, what is Caitlin Clark's contracted compensation? What is Caitlin Clark's salary? According to Spotrac, Clark's four-year rookie contract provides her with an average annual salary of $84,514, totaling $338,056 over the length of the agreement. Her season-by-season payout is a slightly different story, as Clark was paid $76,535 in 2024 and is scheduled to earn $78,066 during this current season. Clark's base pay increases to $85,873 in 2026 and concludes at $97,582 in 2027 during a final club option season of her contract. How much do WNBA players make? Currently, each WNBA team works with a salary cap of $1,507,100. There is also a required $1,261,440 minimum to spend. Per the current operating CBA and Her Hoop Stats, the league's super-maximum is $249,244. The regular maximum contract is $214,466. The minimum contract to players with two or less years of service is $66,079 and $78,831 to WNBA players with three or more years of service. Who has the largest contract value in the WNBA? As of July 20, 2025, Dallas Wings' guard Arike Ogunbowale is the WNBA's highest-paid player according to her total contract value. The former Notre Dame star is in the final year of her three-year contract that she signed in 2023 that pays her a total of $725,952. The title for largest average annual value in the league belongs to Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, whose AAV clocks in at $252,450 per Spotrac. When is the deadline for a new WNBA collective bargaining agreement? While both the players' union and the league continue to work on finding common ground to finalize a new CBA, the deadline for an agreement is October 31, 2025. If the two sides cannot reach a new CBA beforehand, a work stoppage would commence and the start of the 2026 WNBA season would be thrust into jeopardy. What can the Nets do with the rest of their cap space?
The Brooklyn Nets have renounced the free agent rights for Day'Ron Sharpe. Ziaire Williams is in the same players will be re-signed either via cap space or one could be re-signed via the Room has $22.3M in remaining cap space this summer. The Brooklyn Nets are wrapping up their Las Vegas Summer League with a disappointing 1-4 record, but are also coming away from Vegas with a good look at their four rookies. With that being said, Brooklyn has the rest of the offseason to worry about. While they are trying to figure out how to bring guard Cam Thomas back, they also have to think about their cap space. Per Keith Smith of Spotrac, the Nets renounced the free-agent rights to center Day'Ron Sharpe and forward Ziaire Williams as the team was looking to re-sign both players. Towards the end of June, it was announced that Brooklyn re-signed Sharpe and Williams in free-agency, but Smith pointed out that the two will be brought back to the team either with cap space or the "Room Exception." The "Room Exception" that Smith is referring to is the Mid-Level Room Exception (worth $8,781,000), an exception that can be used by teams with cap space, which the Nets fit into. According to Smith, Brooklyn has $22.3 million worth of cap space left to use this offseason and Spotrac's numbers as of this writing have the Nets at $19.9 million to use with just Thomas as the only restricted free-agent left to attend to. Due to the fact that Brooklyn is under the $139,182,000 salary cap for the 2025-26 season, there are no restrictions for them when it comes to trades or buyouts. However, the Nets, who have $134,733,990 in salary-cap allocations, "must spend to the salary floor by start of the season or team will have a cap hold assigned for the difference," according to Spotrac. At this point, the Nets have 18 players on the roster, including Sharpe and Williams, whose transactions are still considered pending, and forward Tosan Evbuomwan and guard Tyson Etienne, the two Two-Way players under contract. Brooklyn can go over the salary cap to sign Thomas due to his being a restricted free-agent, but time will tell what general manager Sean Marks decides to do with the rest of the cap space.

Seahawks sign final draft pick, TE Elijah Arroyo, to rookie contract
And then there were none. On Friday morning, the Seattle Seahawks finally signed their final pick from the 2025 NFL draft: tight end Elijah Arroyo. This of course comes a day after the team agreed to terms with their other second round pick, safety Nick Emmanwori, who received a historic fully-guaranteed contract. When it was announced Emmanwori would be receiving a fully-guaranteed deal, many assumed Arroyo would be receiving one as well. While his won't be, the former Miami Hurricane weapon will be getting dang near close to one. Despite both players being second round picks, this is a stark reminder of how much money players stand to make as rookies depending on where they are selected. At No. 35 overall, Emmanwori will be making all $11+ million of his standard rookie contract, per Spotrac. Arroyo, picked 15 spots later, will be earning just over half as much as his fellow second round teammate. The Seahawks' training camp officially opens on Wednesday July 23rd, but rookies have already reported to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Now that Arroyo is officially signed, he can now join his teammates on the practice field to begin preparations for the 2025 campaign.
