3 lakh Indiramma houses sanctioned for underprivileged: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has announced that three lakh houses have so far been sanctioned under the new Indiramma housing scheme, with 1.23 lakh of these currently in various stages of construction. The state government has set an ambitious target to construct 4.5 lakh houses in total, allocating 3,500 houses per constituency at an estimated cost of Rs 22,500 crore. The Congress Government in Telangana has now sanctioned three lakh houses under this flagship Indiramma Housing Scheme, which aims to provide permanent shelter to the poor across the state. This large-scale initiative forms a crucial part of the government's broader mission to eliminate huts and establish Telangana as a model state in providing housing for the underprivileged. Minister Srinivas Reddy highlighted the scheme's unique nature, stating, 'While no other state government in the country is constructing houses for Rs 5 lakh each, Telangana is going ahead and building them without depending on central housing schemes.' He further asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Indiramma government is actively turning the dreams of the poor into reality. 'In the past, the poor in Telangana could only dream of owning a home due to the negligence of the previous government. That dream is now becoming a reality,' he explained. To further support the construction efforts, the government is generously offering 40 metric tonnes of sand free of cost for each house. Moreover, to ensure utmost transparency and eliminate any delays, payments for house construction are being credited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts every Monday, as noted by the minister. Minister Srinivas Reddy urged officials to focus intently on improving performance in districts that are currently lagging behind in implementation and to expedite planning for the construction of houses in urban areas. With significant progress already being made in rural Telangana, he directed officials to identify all available land in towns and cities and prepare concrete action plans for immediate implementation.

Sanction letters issued to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of 3 lakh target under Indiramma Housing scheme: Telangana Revenue Minister

Telangana Government has issued sanction letters to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of three lakh targeted under the Indiramma Housing scheme so far. Of these, works on 1.03 lakh houses are grounded and were in different stages of construction, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. The scheme envisaged sanction of 4.5 lakh houses, 3,500 in each constituency, under the Indiramma scheme this year involving ₹22,500 crore. The government completed identification of beneficiaries in 88 of the 98 constituencies — except for those in Greater Hyderabad limits — till April 23 and works were progressing at a brisk pace. Focus on eight districts The Minister wanted basement works of the sanctioned houses to be completed at the earliest in view of the onset of the monsoons and officials were directed to constantly monitor the progress of the works. He wanted the officials to focus more on Surypet, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts as there was need for the officials in these districts to improve their performance. Sand free of cost The State Government decided to provide 40 tonne sand free of cost to each of the houses sanctioned under the scheme and officials at the field level should educate the beneficiaries to make use of the facility. Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that payments were being made to beneficiaries every Monday based on the progress of the works in spite of the financial constraints faced by the government. Steps were taken to credit the amounts into the accounts of beneficiaries directly, in four instalments so as to not give scope for involvement of middlemen. Accordingly, ₹1 lakh was being credited for houses where works were completed up to basement level, ₹1.25 lakh after construction of walls, ₹1.75 lakh following completion of slab and the balance after the completion of remaining works. ₹5 lakh for incomplete 2BHK houses Steps were also taken to ensure that eligible beneficiaries without lands were allotted the two bedroom houses which were not allotted to anyone. The government also decided to provide ₹5 lakh in respect of incomplete 2BHK houses enabling beneficiaries to complete the pending works. Officials were accordingly directed to focus on GHMC, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Warangal districts where there were significant number of incomplete 2BHK houses.

Telangana govt to submit KLIP report to Ghose panel; opposes Banakacherla project, awaits HC verdict on panchayat polls

HYDERABAD: The Telangana cabinet, chaired by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, on Monday decided to submit a comprehensive report to the Justice PC Ghose Commission probing the lapses in the execution of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). The submission will include whether the project received formal cabinet approval during the previous BRS regime, the rationale for constituting a cabinet sub-committee, and the extent to which its recommendations were implemented. In other important decisions taken at the meeting, the cabinet approved the 201-km southern corridor of the Regional Ring Road, extending from Choutuppal to Sangareddy and an IIIT for Mahbubnagar. Telangana Thalli statues will be installed in every district collectorate before Dec 9. Briefing the media after the meeting at the state secretariat, revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponnam Prabhakar, said the govt would submit all requested information on KLIS by June 30. "This includes details on what then engineers-many now retired-recommended, and the basis on which the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages were taken up," Srinivas Reddy said. The cabinet also took a strong stand on the Banakacherla project, vowing to resist it at all costs to safeguard Telangana's share of river waters. Srinivas Reddy alleged that a 'vicious campaign' was being run to blame the Congress govt for the project, even though the foundation stone was laid during the previous BRS govt's tenure. "To set the record straight, the govt will soon give a detailed power-point presentation to all elected representatives," he said. Telangana Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy alleged that a 'vicious campaign' was being run to blame the Congress govt for the Banakacherla project, even though the foundation stone was laid during the previous BRS govt's tenure. He said the govt will soon give a detailed power-point presentation to all elected representatives. The presentation, scheduled for the first week of July, will cover how the former BRS govt 'surrendered' Telangana's rightful water share to Andhra Pradesh, steps the Congress govt has taken to halt Banakacherla, and the strategy going forward. While sources confirmed that the cabinet also deliberated on holding talks with the AP govt regarding the river water dispute, ministers remained tight-lipped on whether formal cabinet approval was given for such talks. Similarly, they refrained from confirming if the KLIS ever received cabinet sanction under the previous regime. 'All such details will be placed before the Ghose Commission,' Srinivas Reddy reiterated. On the much-delayed panchayat polls, minister Prabhakar said the Telangana high court reserved its judgment after hearing the case on Monday. 'Once the judgment is delivered, the state govt will decide on election timeline and reservations in local bodies accordingly,' he said.

Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, along with deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, will address farmers at the Rythu Bharosa Vijayotsavam Sabha on Tuesday near the Rajiv Gandhi statue, opposite the Telangana Secretariat. The event marks the state govt's achievement of depositing Rs 9,000 crore into the accounts of lakhs of farmers in just nine days. The Congress-led govt is organising victory celebrations across all Rythu Vedikas, villages, and mandal headquarters. On June 24, the final day of the celebrations, meetings will be held simultaneously across the state to showcase the govt's commitment to farmers and agriculture. The chief minister is expected to highlight the rollout of Rythu Bharosa and other key welfare measures from the main stage in Hyderabad. 'This is the first time in Telangana's history that Rs 9,000 crore has been credited to farmers' accounts in just nine days,' said Bhatti. 'While the previous BRS govt gave Rs 10,000 per acre per year, our govt is giving Rs 12,000 per acre annually. We are not only delivering more, but doing it faster and without discrimination,' he added. Ahead of the event, agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, chief secretary Santhi Kumari, and senior officials from various departments reviewed the arrangements. Speaking after the review, Tummala said the Congress had a legacy of supporting farmers.

Ponguleti for humanitarian approach towards farmers' problems

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to resolve the grievances submitted by farmers during Revenue Sadassus in a time-bound manner. The Revenue Department has been conducting meetings with stakeholders in all mandals except Hyderabad since June 3, with 7,578 villages in 561 mandals covered till date. The department has so far received 4.61 lakh applications in the meetings that will continue till June 20. The Minister wanted the officials to thoroughly examine the grievances and resolve the problems with a humanitarian approach. Mr. Srinivas Reddy reviewed the progress of meetings with senior officials on Sunday, and directed them to ensure government's intention of resolving land issues, pending for decades, came true. The 10-year rule of BRS Government put farmers to severe hardships, and the introduction of the Dharani portal has been a bane for them, he said. The Minister said that he was personally present in the meetings conducted in 50 villages and was moved by the plight of farmers during the BRS tenure. Prompted by their hardships, the present government had enacted the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act, and it was the responsibility of the officials concerned to ensure effective implementation of the legislation at the field level. Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that land survey in five model villages for which records did not exist since Independence was progressing briskly. The survey was launched in five of the 413 villages, for which land records did not exist, on a pilot basis. Accordingly, mapping of 337 acres of 422 acres in Salarnagar of Gandeed mandal of Mahbubnagar district, 269 acres out of 626 acres in Kommanapally village of Bhirpur mandal of Jagtial district, 445 acres (845 acres) of Mulugumada of Errupalem mandal of Khammam district, 232 acres (502 acres) of Nuguru in Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district, and 308 acres (593 acres) in Shahidnagar of Vatpalli mandal of Sangareddy district had been completed so far. In all, mapping and survey of 1,591 acres of the 2,988 acres in the five pilot villages had been completed and officials were directed to complete the survey within 10 days.
