Sanction letters issued to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of 3 lakh target under Indiramma Housing scheme: Telangana Revenue Minister

The Hindu24-06-2025
Telangana Government has issued sanction letters to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of three lakh targeted under the Indiramma Housing scheme so far.
Of these, works on 1.03 lakh houses are grounded and were in different stages of construction, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. The scheme envisaged sanction of 4.5 lakh houses, 3,500 in each constituency, under the Indiramma scheme this year involving ₹22,500 crore. The government completed identification of beneficiaries in 88 of the 98 constituencies — except for those in Greater Hyderabad limits — till April 23 and works were progressing at a brisk pace.
Focus on eight districts
The Minister wanted basement works of the sanctioned houses to be completed at the earliest in view of the onset of the monsoons and officials were directed to constantly monitor the progress of the works. He wanted the officials to focus more on Surypet, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts as there was need for the officials in these districts to improve their performance.
Sand free of cost
The State Government decided to provide 40 tonne sand free of cost to each of the houses sanctioned under the scheme and officials at the field level should educate the beneficiaries to make use of the facility.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that payments were being made to beneficiaries every Monday based on the progress of the works in spite of the financial constraints faced by the government. Steps were taken to credit the amounts into the accounts of beneficiaries directly, in four instalments so as to not give scope for involvement of middlemen. Accordingly, ₹1 lakh was being credited for houses where works were completed up to basement level, ₹1.25 lakh after construction of walls, ₹1.75 lakh following completion of slab and the balance after the completion of remaining works.
₹5 lakh for incomplete 2BHK houses
Steps were also taken to ensure that eligible beneficiaries without lands were allotted the two bedroom houses which were not allotted to anyone. The government also decided to provide ₹5 lakh in respect of incomplete 2BHK houses enabling beneficiaries to complete the pending works. Officials were accordingly directed to focus on GHMC, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Warangal districts where there were significant number of incomplete 2BHK houses.

Tummala writes to Centre for boosting urea supplies amid severe shortage

Hyderabad: Telangana's Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Wednesday urged Union Chemical and Fertilizers Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda to enhance the state's urea allocation from indigenous plants and issue an additional supply plan to compensate for shortfalls from April to June 2025, stating that a continuous mismatch between approved allocation and actual supply was pushing Telangana into distress during the critical Kharif season. In a letter, the Minister highlighted that while the Department of Fertilizers issued supply plans for April, May, June, and July 2025 – allotting a total of 1.60 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) for July, 60 per cent of which is from imported sources – the state faces a persistent shortfall between its approved allocation and the actual vessel-based allotment in the imported Urea category, with no vessel yet allotted for the July quota. This persistent mismatch and piecemeal allotments adversely affect the timely and adequate availability of Urea at the field level. Consequently, the State Government has reiterated the urgency of the situation, requesting the Department of Fertilizers to ensure full realisation of the 0.97 LMT of imported Urea allocated for July 2025 through immediate vessel allotment, enhance the allotment of Urea from indigenous units, particularly RFCL, from 30,800 MT to 60,000 MT considering its logistical accessibility and operational convenience for timely movement within the State, and provide an additional supply plan to compensate for the shortfall quantities experienced from April to June 2025.
