Massive fire rips through downtown St. Thomas buildings, closes roads

A large fire ripped through the 600 block of Talbot Street in St. Thomas, Ont. early Sunday morning on July 6, 2025. (Source: St Thomas Fire) The St. Thomas police have closed the 600 block of Talbot Street and surrounding streets for an active blaze on Talbot. Smoke filled the entire downtown core as firefighters attacked the fire from Talbot Street and an aerial ladder truck poured water from above to fight the fire next to the Indwell Apartments and St. Thomas City Bus Depot. The St. Thomas Police Service said on X that the fire has been deemed an arson. There are no reported injuries. The public is asked to avoid the area. More to come...

St. Thomas Police and the Forensic Identification Team are investigating a body found in a gully off Elmina St. in St. Thomas, Ont. on Monday June 30, 2025 (Source: Brent Lale/CTV London) The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) is investigating after a body was found in the gully off Elmina Street on Monday morning. Detectives and the Forensic Identification team are on scene, stationed off an access path used for storm drains. 'The investigation is still in its early stages, and at this point there is no ID,' says Samantha Wakefield, STPS communications coordinator. 'Officers are currently on scene investigating the cause.' STPS remind of bike service following theft

The St. Thomas Police Service is investigating a bike theft in the city. On Sunday, the bike's owner reported it missing after they were at a downtown restaurant. The bike was a white Rocky Mountain brand bicycle. The investigation is ongoing. Police are reminding cyclists to register their bike with the STPS through 529Garage. It will let others in the area know when your bike is stolen or missing. Other users can then be on the lookout.
