Ramchander Rao outlines vision for inclusive devpt in Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State President N Ramchander Rao presented a comprehensive roadmap for balanced industrial development in Telangana while addressing a gathering at the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) on Wednesday. He stressed that Telangana's growth should not be concentrated in Hyderabad alone. Instead, it should be distributed across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to ensure equitable progress. Rao was reflecting on India's transformation since independence, noting that the country has transitioned from a recipient of foreign aid under programs like America's PL-480 to an exporter of high-quality agricultural products. 'Today, we are not just self-reliant but actively supporting other nations,' he said. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'developed India by 2047' is driving ambitious reforms and industrial expansion nationwide. Countering criticism that the BJP is a 'corporate government,' Rao argued that without corporate sector participation, industrial growth would be impossible. He highlighted how Indian professionals have flourished globally—in science, medicine, and business leadership roles in the United States, Africa, and the United Kingdom. However, such spirit has been lacking back at home for a long time. This issue needs to be probed and addressed properly, he added. To address this issue, he highlighted central government initiatives like Startup India, Standup India, and Make in India. Rao said these schemes, coupled with low-interest Mudra loans, are reshaping the entrepreneurial landscape. However, he flagged concerns that banks are falling short in loan disbursement and called for better oversight. 'The MSME sector offers the largest employment opportunities—it deserves robust support,' he emphasized. While Telangana's climate and resources are conducive to industrial growth around Hyderabad, Rao urged development to radiate across the state. Plans for a regional ring road and a circular rail network around Hyderabad were cited as key infrastructure projects that will support decentralization and reduce migration to urban centers. On employment, Rao urged youth to shift focus from government jobs to self-employment, echoing PM Modi's call to become 'job givers.' He named artificial intelligence, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and cellphone manufacturing as sectors ripe with opportunity, enabled by supportive central policies. He cited the success of companies like Tata-Boeing as evidence of India's expanding industrial prowess. Rao also praised the Jan Dhan Yojana for universalizing bank access and enabling direct benefit transfers. 'Every rupee reaches citizens directly—no intermediaries, no cheques,' he said, contrasting it with earlier regimes where only a fraction of allocated funds reached beneficiaries. Rao also acknowledged existing challenges in industrial growth and welcomed suggestions from business leaders to refine policy. 'We are committed to taking your ideas to the Centre for constructive change,' he assured.

NCW organises AI training programme for women in Jodhpur

The National Commission for Women (NCW) organised an AI training programme in Jodhpur in which hundreds of women participants took part, an official said on Sunday. "The objective of Yashoda AI is to digitally empower women," said an official in a post on the social media platform X. Yashoda AI, also known as "Your AI SAKHI for Shaping Horizons with Digital Awareness," is a nationwide campaign by the NCW that empowers women, particularly those in rural and semi-urban areas, with digital and AI literacy, cybersecurity skills, and digital safety. According to the NCW, the programme focuses on providing training in local languages to ensure accessibility and promote women's participation in a technology-driven future. Earlier on Saturday, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar held a meeting with administrative and police officials of eight districts of the Jodhpur division and officials from various departments to review the progress of women and child rights, laws, and schemes. She said in a post on X that some important topics discussed in the meeting included a review of more than 10 schemes related to women. She said the discussion emphasised on making schemes like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana', 'Standup India', Lakhpati Didi, Maternal Health Scheme, eliminating female dropouts in education, skill development, self-help groups, women entrepreneurship, digital education, and services, more effective. The NCW chairperson also highlighted delays in police reports – leading to delays in grievance redressal. The need for an updated database of all police officers and helpline officials, to ensure effective communication and coordination, was also highlighted, she said. Emphasis was also laid on awareness programmes on various topics, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) enacted to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pornography, she said. Effective implementation of 'One Stop Centre' - intended to support women affected by violence - and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana were also taken up for discussion, said Rahatkar. She said the officials were sensitised to ensure the benefits of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana reach the last mile with the cooperation of public representatives. She said protection officers and local committees should work in coordination with the police administration. The officials were also asked to initiate Pre-Marital Communication Centres, review cases related to heinous crimes against women, such as dowry, rape, and cybercrime and strengthen women's police stations. The need to appoint trained counsellors and arrangement of proper infrastructure was also stressed, she said.

Modi government weakened autonomy of constitutional institutions in past 11 years: Congress

The past 11 years of the Narendra Modi government has dealt a deep blow to the country's social fabric, democracy and economy, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday (June 9, 2025). In a post on X, Mr. Kharge alleged, 'The Modi government has wasted the last 11 years in smearing the ink of dictatorship on every page of the Constitution'. 'The BJP-RSS has weakened every constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy,' he added. The Congress chief accused the Modi government of 'stealing people's mandate, toppling governments through the back door, imposing one-party dictatorship and weakening the federal structure'. 'Efforts are constantly being made to spread an environment of hatred, threats and fear,' he added. Mr. Kharge said the exploitation of Dalits, tribals, backwards, minority and weaker sections has increased continuously, Manipur is witnessing unending violence, and the BJP-RSS has made it a habit to keep the country's GDP growth rate at 5-6% from the average of 8% growth. Growing inequality, unemployment, inflation had been the fallout of wrong policies such as demonetisation, wrong GST and unplanned lockdown that affected the unorganised sector, the Congress chief said.. He added that programmes like Make in India, Startup India, Stand up India, Digital India, Namami Gange, and 100 SMART cities had all failed. 'Railways have been ruined. Only the ribbons of the infrastructure painstakingly built by the Congress-UPA have been cut,' Mr. Kharge claimed. Senior leader Rahul Gandhi pointed out how several people lost their lives in an overcrowded local train in Mumbai when the government was busy celebrating its third term. '11 years of Modi government = no accountability, no change, only propaganda. The government has stopped talking about 2025 and is now selling dreams of 2047,' Mr. Gandhi said in a post on X. Congress communication chief Jairam Ramesh questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't hold press conferences. 'Celebrating 11 years but still the Prime Minister remains 'nau do gyarah' from an unscripted and pre-scheduled press conference. Bharat Mandapam is waiting for him,' Mr. Ramesh said, using a Hindi idiom. At a press conference, Rajeev Gowda, who heads the party's research wing, along with spokesperson Mahima Singh, released two booklets, countering the government claims of its achievements. 'The one thing this government has been good at is propaganda and fake news. They are number one in that. It is our job as a responsible Opposition to make sure that the people of India know the grim reality,' Mr. Gowda said.

Congress President accuses Modi govt of

New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, alleging that the last 11 years under BJP rule have caused serious harm to India's democratic institutions, economy, and social harmony. Kharge further alleged that the BJP government has 'weakened' constitutional institutions and 'attacked' their autonomy. In a social media post on X, Kharge wrote, 'In the last 11 years, the Modi government has caused severe damage to Indian democracy, economy and social fabric. BJP-RSS weakened every constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy. Whether it was stealing public opinion and toppling governments through the back door, or forcibly imposing one-party dictatorship. During this period, the rights of the states were ignored and the federal structure was weakened.' The Congress President alleged that the government had created an atmosphere of 'hatred, threats and fear' in the society and claimed that the exploitation of Dalits, tribals, backward classes, minorities, and weaker sections had increased, citing the Manipur situation. The social media post reads, 'There are continuous efforts to spread hatred, threats and fear in the society. The exploitation of Dalits, tribals, backward, minority and weaker sections has increased continuously. The conspiracy to deprive them of reservation and equal rights continues. The unending violence in Manipur is the biggest proof of the administrative failure of the BJP.' Kharge also attacked the BJP government over economic policies for the country, adding that this government's major schemes like Make in India, Startup India, Stand up India, Digital India, Namami Gange, 100 SMART Cities have 'failed.' The post reads, 'BJP-RSS made the country's GDP growth rate habituated to 5-6%, which used to be 8% on average during UPA. Instead of the promise of 2 crore jobs every year, crores of jobs were taken away from the youth. Due to inflation, public savings were the lowest in 50 years, and economic inequality was the highest in 100 years. Demonetisation, wrong GST, unplanned lockdown and by hammering the unorganised sector, the future of crores of people was ruined. Make in India, Startup India, Stand up India, Digital India, Namami Gange, and 100 SMART Cities all failed. Railways were ruined. Only the ribbons of the infrastructure built by Congress-UPA were cut.' Concluding his remarks, Kharge said, 'The Modi government has wasted the last 11 years in rubbing the ink of dictatorship on every page of the Constitution!' (ANI)

Mallikarjun Kharge slams 11-year Modi govt for ‘damaging' democracy and economy

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, accusing it of inflicting 'deep blow' to Indian democracy, economy, and the country's social fabric. Kharge alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological parent Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) weakened constitutional institutions and undermined federalism. 'In the last 11 years, the Modi government has caused a deep blow to Indian democracy, economy and social fabric. The BJP-RSS has weakened every Constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy. Whether it is stealing public opinion and toppling governments through the back door, or forcibly imposing a one-party dictatorship. During this period, the rights of the states have been ignored and the federal structure has weakened,' Kharge wrote on X (formerly Twitter). As the BJP marked 11 years of governance at the Centre, PM Modi highlighted the achievements of his government, crediting it with people-centric, inclusive progress. 'From economic growth to social upliftment, the focus has been on people-centric, inclusive and all-round progress. India today is not just the fastest-growing major economy, but also a key global voice on pressing issues like climate action and digital innovation,' he said. Union home minister Amit Shah echoed similar sentiments, calling the last 11 years a 'golden period' of public service. 'In Modi 3.0, New India is rapidly progressing towards development and self-reliance with the power of reform, perform and transform. This journey of making India number 1 in every field by bringing positive changes in the lives of the countrymen will continue like this,' Shah said. Countering the government's narrative, Kharge pointed to what he called a rise in hate and fear in society, citing the prolonged violence in Manipur. 'Efforts are constantly being made to spread an environment of hatred, threats and fear in the society. The exploitation of Dalits, tribals, backwards classes, minorities and weaker sections has increased continuously. The conspiracy to deprive them of reservation and equal rights continues,' he said. Kharge also criticised the government's economic policies. 'The BJP-RSS has made the country's GDP growth rate habitual of 5-6%, which used to be 8% on average during the UPA. Instead of the promise of 2 crore jobs annually, crores of jobs were snatched away from the youth. Due to inflation, public savings have become the lowest in 50 years and economic inequality has become the highest in 100 years,' he said. 'Make in India, Startup India, Stand up India, Digital India, Namami Gange, 100 SMART Cities, all have failed. Railways have been ruined. Only the ribbons of the infrastructure, painstakingly built by Congress-UPA, have been cut,' Kharge claimed.
