This article originally appeared on Tim Rooney, the nephew of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr. and one of the architects of the team's 1970s Super Bowl dynasty, died on Tuesday, his family announced via social media. Advertisement Born Vincent Timothy Rooney, Jr., the son of Art Rooney Sr.'s younger brother, Tim Rooney was a member of the Steelers front office from 1972-79, joining a front office scouting department that consisted only of Dick Haley, Art Rooney Jr. and Bill Nunn. Tim Rooney had been a college coach at Villanova, and Chuck Noll envisioned him as an advanced NFL scout that could attend the games of upcoming opponents, and also serve as a pro scout for free agency. 'Noll and Haley talked about the need to start up a pro personnel department,' Rooney said in 2020. 'They wanted to be out in front of free agency – they anticipated it and wanted to be the first team to have scouts ready in advance for it. They anticipated that need.' 'I like the way he views the game from a receiver's standpoint, but also from a quarterback's standpoint. I think I can gain a lot of knowledge just from being around him because he's seen a lot of football. Just trying to soak up as much information as I can.' DK Metcalf believes Rodgers' skillset fits his game perfectly. 'How quickly he releases the ball and me getting off the line of scrimmage fast is one thing that stands out first,' he said. The Terrible Towel was created by legendary sports broadcaster Myron Cope on Dec. 27, 1975. He was attempting to excite the fan base ahead of a playoff game when he came up with the idea, imploring fans to bring their yellow dish towels to the game and wave them with pride. It has since become an icon and the perfect backdrop to some of the biggest moments in Pittsburgh Steelers history. This article originally appeared on Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Ray Seals has died at the age of 59, according to Seals was one of the rare few NFL players to skip college football, going straight from Henninger High School in Syracuse, New York to the minor-league Syracuse Express of the Empire Football League. Advertisement He played two seasons for the Express before being picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1989. Seals spent two seasons as a reserve for the Bucs and three as a part-time starter before joining the Steelers in 1994. In three seasons in Pittsburgh, Seals started 27 games, including all 16 regular season games in 1995, and then another three in playoffs as the Steelers went all the way to Super Bowl XXX. This article originally appeared on The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed backup tackle Calvin Anderson to a two-year contract, the team announced on Monday. Anderson, 29, joined the Steelers during the 2024 season, after tackle Troy Fautanu was lost for the Steelers to a knee injury. The Steelers immediately plugged Anderson into their swing backup tackle slot, and he remained there until he was placed on the injured reserve list with a groin injury on Dec. 12. Anderson was activated in time to appear in the Wild Card playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Advertisement In total, Anderson played in four regular-season games, playing in 11 snaps of offense for the Steelers, and also played in 29 snaps in the Wild Card loss — all of which came at left tackle.
