Kalyani family feud escalates: Baba Kalyani's sister Sugandha alleges asset grab by younger brother

Pune: Sugandha Hiremath , sister of industrialist Baba Kalyani , on Friday accused her younger brother Gaurishankar Kalyani of usurping ancestral properties in Karad, Maharashtra, as part of an ongoing legal battle over the division of Kalyani family assets in a Pune court . In an affidavit, Sugandha claimed she has uncovered evidence that two large family-owned properties in Karad were transferred to Gaurishankar, allegedly using a power of attorney (POA) granted by their late father Neelkanth Kalyani. The affidavit states that legal disputes over these properties, filed earlier by their father, are still pending in a Karad court. The allegations are part of a suit filed by Sugandha, her husband Jaidev Hiremath, and their two children, seeking partition of the Kalyani family assets to claim their share of the Kalyani Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets. The disputed assets include stakes in Kalyani group flagship Bharat Forge along with other listed and privately held companies as well as properties across the country. Sugandha has sought an injunction restraining her brothers from alienating any family assets, including promoter shares of about 250 group companies, until the case is resolved. Sha has also sought a directive for both her brothers to disclose the full list of family properties. Live Events In an earlier hearing in March, the court had observed that, given the family relationships, nature of the suit, and pendency of related proceedings, it would be appropriate to hear all parties before issuing any interim orders. In Friday's hearing, Sugandha's counsels alleged that Gaurishankar concealed information about the properties in Karad and ongoing disputes in courts there. The partition suit is now slated to come up for hearing on July 22. The Pune-based Kalyani Group, led by Baba Kalyani, is a multinational conglomerate with interests in engineering, automotive components, specialty chemicals, and renewable energy.

Industrialist Baba Kalyani's sister accuses him of fraud amid samadhi dispute

The ongoing dispute between one of the country's top industrialists, Baba Kalyani, and his sister Sugandha Hiremath over the construction of the memorial shrine (Samadhi) of their mother Sulochana Kalyani refuses to die down as the latter has filed a lawsuit against her brother, accusing him of "playing fraud on the court".In her affidavit filed before the Pune Civil Court on Friday, Sugandha stated that Baba "even today continues to shift his stand and is guilty of deliberate deception". Her statement was based on depositions that Baba Kalyani made in claims that, immediately after their mother's demise in February 2023, she requested her brother Baba that a samadhi should be built in her memory, right next to their father's samadhi on a plot in Keshav Nagar in Pune. However, Baba chose to immerse her ashes in a river instead. Days before their mother's second death anniversary, Sugandha said she wrote to Baba to build the samadhi, but he dismissed it and asked her to do so on the plot where Parvati Nivas Kalyani used to stay with her younger son Gaurishankar at Parvati Nivas, when she breathed her last. The plot is under Gaurishankar and his wife Rohini's per Sugandha's petition, she scoffed at the idea of Samadhi at Parvati Nivas as it was her mother's wish to be buried next to her husband at the Keshav Nagar Baba did not relent, Sugandha approached the Pune court and filed a suit. On the very first hearing on February 13, 2025, Baba's side produced a mail from the industrialist which stated that he was willing to talk to his siblings along with their family priest about building the samadhi. A meeting for the same was slated a week the meeting took place, Baba told Sugandha that he had already installed a Shivlinga at Jangamwadi Math in Kashi in their mother's name and that she should not insist on samadhi in the Keshav Nagar plot. Sugandha and her husband, Jai Hiremath, went to Kashi only to find that a small Shivlinga was located with over a lakh others in the Math and did not even slightly resemble a samadhi. At this, Sugandha expressed shock, claiming her brother had "deceived her yet again". To this, Baba filed an affidavit clarifying that the meeting for samadhi was to happen between all the Kalyani since their younger brother Gaurishankar did not participate, it did not reach fruition. Moreover, he stated that all the rituals suggested by Jagadguru had been followed after their mother's demise, indicating that the demand for samadhi was baseless. Baba also added that the Keshav Nagar plot belonged to a company and not in her recent affidavit, has come down heavily on Baba and has requested the court to take action against him and alleged that this is also a fraud on the court. The case has been kept for hearing next on June Watch

Exclusive: Wagle Ki Duniya's Sugandha Mishra on how she keeps her baby girl entertained; says ‘I'm doing everything from funny voices to beatboxing'

Comedian and actress Sugandha Mishra , currently seen as the over-the-top Suman Gadhiya in Wagle Ki Duniya , is winning hearts both on screen and off it. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, the multi-talented star opened up about motherhood , her creative bonding time with her baby girl, and the balance between her reel and real-life roles. 'Motherhood has transformed me in the best way possible!' Sugandha shared. 'It has made me grow into a more elevated, composed, and honestly, more creative person. With my little one, I'm constantly coming up with new ways to entertain her—because we keep her screen time limited. So now I'm doing everything from funny voices to beatboxing and even making up silly rhymes.' She added with a laugh, 'Even though she's just 15 months old, she's already started mimicking animal sounds—lion, dog, cat—even before saying 'mama' or 'papa'. It's the cutest thing ever. She's my little audience, my biggest cheerleader.' Balancing her on-screen chaos with her off-screen cuddles hasn't been a challenge, Sugandha said. 'Not at all! I actually love it. Being on set, diving into a crazy character like Suman, and then coming home to my little munchkin—it's the perfect balance. And no matter how exhausting the day has been, the moment I see her running towards me with that big smile, everything else just fades away. That's my biggest recharge. Truly, nothing compares to that feeling.' For those unfamiliar, Sugandha plays Suman Gadhiya in Wagle Ki Duniya—a dramatic woman pretending to research a role while secretly plotting something else. Using her charm, she convinces Yamini (played by Manasi Joshi) to let her temporarily stay at Sai Darshan Society. While she claims she's observing middle-class life for an upcoming role, her motives are far from innocent. Whether it's beatboxing for her toddler or embracing quirky characters on screen, Sugandha Mishra continues to delight audiences with her infectious energy and heartfelt honesty.
