Sultan Bin Ahmed honours Sharjah PhD Award winners
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, attended the ceremony to honour the winners of the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Award for the best PhD thesis in administrative and financial sciences in the Arab world. The event took place on Tuesday afternoon at Al Biruni Hall, University of Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed honoured the winners in the administrative science category. Dr Islam Ali Al Hadidi from Egypt secured first place for his thesis titled 'The impact of humble leadership on the performance and behaviours of frontline employees in the hospitality and tourism sector.' Dr Fatima Saeed Saif Al Dhahuri from the United Arab Emirates won second place for her thesis titled 'A study of the underlying causes of workplace ostracism and its impact on employee silence, with the pivotal role of ethical leadership.' In the financial sciences category, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed honoured Dr Ahmad Husein Obayya from Egypt, who was awarded first place for his thesis titled 'Research on the effects of female representation on the quality of internal control: New insights from listed companies in Egypt and China.' Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, in his capacity as President of the University of Sharjah, also honoured the award's sponsors. Sharjah Islamic Bank was recognised as the gold sponsor, and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry was recognised as the silver sponsor. He concluded the ceremony by taking commemorative photos with the winners, sponsors, members of the Board of Trustees and the scientific committee. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by a speech delivered by Professor Dr Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah and Chair of the Award's Board of Trustees. He highlighted the prestigious legacy of the award, which was established in 2001 by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and founder of the University of Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan's belief in the importance of fostering administrative and financial culture within Arab institutions led to the establishment of the award. Dr Agamy noted that the award has evolved over the years into a distinguished Arab platform that encourages researchers to produce applied and field-based studies addressing real-world challenges. It supports development in the administrative and financial fields and raises awareness of sound and transparent governance. Dr Agamy praised the vital role of Sheikh Sultan the university president in supporting education and knowledge through his generous patronage of the award. He stated that this patronage embodies Sheikh Sultan's enlightened vision, affirming the University of Sharjah's dual role in academia and community development. This, he said, makes the university a unique and exemplary model in the Arab region and internationally. The Chair of the Board of Trustees congratulated the winners on their academic distinction and noted that this year's theses were selected with extreme care due to their significant contribution to scientific knowledge and service to Arab communities. He highlighted that winning research contributes to improving the administrative and financial landscape in the Arab world and represents a qualitative addition to the Arabic academic library. Dr Agamy revealed that the current edition of the award received wide participation, with 131 thesis submissions from 16 Arab countries. These included 55 in administrative sciences, 69 in financial sciences, and 7 in other fields. Following a rigorous and impartial evaluation process, the committee selected the two best theses in administrative sciences and one in financial sciences. Since the award's launch in 2001, a total of 55 winners have been recognised, all of whom represent a vanguard of Arab researchers who have contributed to the development of administrative and financial thought in the region. The ceremony featured visual presentations by the winning researchers, each of whom gave a detailed overview of their award-winning thesis. These presentations highlighted the research problems, objectives, methodology, key findings, and recommendations. The researchers expressed their sincere gratitude to the university president, and the award organisers for their support and encouragement. WAM

Sultan Bin Ahmed visits Family Guidance Centre
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, visited on Wednesday the Family Reform and Guidance Centre, affiliated with the Sharjah Judicial Council and located in the Al Yarmouk area. He toured the various departments and facilities of the centre, which provides vital services to families and society. The centre is considered the first line of defence for protecting the family from anything that threatens its stability, including disputes and social problems among its members, which can lead to disintegration and disruption affecting all family members. This is achieved through the centre's mission of reconciliation, preserving family cohesion and stability, and working to resolve all challenges facing families. The Chairman of the Judicial Council inspected several departments within the centre related to judicial procedures, such as the enforcement department and the documentation department. He listened to a detailed explanation of the various and integrated services provided by these departments to the public. The centre seeks to resolve disputes between family members before resorting to the courts, using amicable methods, formal pledges, or approved agreements. This helps prevent disputes from escalating to litigation and enables issues to be settled in a way that preserves social relationships for the benefit of the family. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed attended part of a workshop titled Marital Life Vitamins, which is one of the ongoing initiatives aimed at spreading awareness among family members and resolving problems. The workshop promotes the use of various methods to prevent conflicts and provides numerous solutions for family members. During the visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed was introduced to the centre's objectives, roles, and awareness activities in which it participates across various events. He also reviewed several statistics concerning cases received by the centre and the reconciliations achieved. The centre handled 1,356 cases that were successfully resolved through reconciliation procedures. Separately, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, chaired the Judicial Council on Wednesday afternoon at the Sharjah Government Legal Department. At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed welcomed everyone and acknowledged their hard work in maintaining and improving the legal services offered to the public with honesty and openness. During the meeting, several important topics were discussed as part of the ongoing efforts to make the legal system better, improve the efficiency of the courts, and ensure social support for families. The Council decided to establish the Family Court as a specialised court to help families and their members. They've assigned the Judicial Inspection Department to create rules that will improve family stability and support. Additionally, the Council has set up a committee responsible for managing funds belonging to children and others in similar circumstances. This committee will develop a financial plan to ensure that these funds are handled wisely and protected, always keeping the best interests of the children in mind. They will also provide the Council with regular updates on their activities. The Council decided to establish a new fund to assist individuals in obtaining urgent alimony payments when they truly need them, particularly women and children. This fund will step in when it's difficult to obtain payments from the person responsible, such as a husband or father, due to legal reasons or financial constraints. This initiative aims to provide better support and fairness for families in the emirate. The money given out by the fund will eventually be collected from the person who is supposed to pay the alimony. Sultan Bin Ahmed attends UoS' graduation ceremony
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah (UoS), attended the graduation ceremony for 566 female students earning their bachelor's degrees from UoS for the Spring 2025 batch, held on Monday in the university's city hall. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed presented the degrees to the graduates from all bachelor's programmes in the Colleges of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, Fine Arts and Design, Communication, Science, Computing and Informatics, and Public Policy. He congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future endeavours. The ceremony began with the national anthem of the UAE, followed by verses from the Holy Quran. Dr Issam Al Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, delivered a speech expressing gratitude to Sultan Bin Ahmed for his presence and ongoing support for the university and its students. He congratulated the graduates and their families, emphasising that this day is a celebration of their academic achievements, which resulted from their commitment to education and the support of their families and professors. Dr Ajami noted that University of Sharjah is celebrating the graduation of a distinguished group of female students from various colleges, representing the pillars of cultural development, national growth, and future excellence. He explained that this ceremony marks the conclusion of this year's graduation celebrations and highlighted key statistics achieved by the university since its founding by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in 1997. Over 48,000 graduates have completed their studies, many of whom hold leadership positions and contribute to the development of their communities both within the UAE and abroad. He mentioned that 65% of the university's students and alumni are female, demonstrating the pivotal role and significant presence of women in the university's journey. Dr Ajami stated that UOS coordinates constructively with higher education institutions in the emirate. The university actively contributes to achieving the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE by implementing developmental projects and activities, alongside close collaboration with relevant federal bodies and ministries. He emphasised the university's commitment to communication and cooperation with higher education and research institutions worldwide to ensure the excellence, quality, and modernity of its programmes and activities. This approach aims to keep pace with rapid developments and technologies, benefiting the community directly, contributing effectively to analysing its issues, finding suitable solutions, and ensuring outstanding and sustainable performance. Dr Ajami addressed the graduates, stating, 'Your journey at this university has been filled with knowledge and learning, characterised by determination and hard work, rooted in strong values of seeking knowledge, excellence, and ambition for a bright future. Your graduation today is not the end of the road but the beginning of a new era in which you will bear the responsibility of actively contributing to building the nation and elevating society. Each of your colleges has played an effective role in serving and developing the community in essential fields that any society cannot do without.' He added, 'You are the mothers of the future and the educators of the coming generations. I congratulate you on this achievement and remind you of the greatest role that awaits you-the role of a mother, the creator of humanity, the educator of generations, and the guardian of values and meanings. An aware and educated mother is the cornerstone in building a generation capable of facing challenges, anchored in its values, open to the world, and committed to its identity.' Dr Ajami concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the faculty for all they have provided in terms of knowledge and guidance, as well as the values and skills they have instilled in the students. Sultan Bin Ahmed attends UoS graduation ceremony
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), attended the graduation ceremony for students of the Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences on Saturday. The event took place at University City Hall in Sharjah. The graduation ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Dr Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the UoS, delivered a speech in which he expressed deep gratitude to Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed for his generous patronage and for honouring the event with his presence. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also extended his congratulations to the graduates, celebrating the addition of a new group of qualified medical professionals to the healthcare field. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed presented graduation certificates to 453 students from the UoS's medical colleges. The graduates included 189 from the College of Medicine, 150 from the College of Pharmacy, 114 from the College of Dentistry, and 423 from the College of Health Sciences. He congratulated the graduates and offered prayers for their continued success in their professional journeys and careers. In his address at the graduation ceremony, Dr Agamy highlighted the UoS's notable achievements in the medical field, both academically and scientifically. He emphasised the university's vital role in advancing community health and healthcare education. Dr Agamy noted that under the vision and direction of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and Founder of the University, the Integrated Healthcare Complex was established in 2004. Designed to reflect the real-world healthcare environment, the complex brings together the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences, along with advanced research and training centres. He stressed that this is more than just an academic facility—it is a comprehensive learning ecosystem that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and prepares a unified, skilled healthcare team capable of delivering holistic care across all levels and circumstances. The Chancellor of the UoS announced that since the establishment of the Integrated Healthcare Complex, the university has graduated over 4,500 doctors, dentists, and pharmacists. These graduates are now serving in healthcare systems across the UAE, the wider region, and around the world, contributing as skilled and qualified professionals in various medical fields. During the graduation ceremony, the graduates solemnly took the oath of medical and healthcare professionals in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, pledging to carry out their duties with dedication, integrity, and loyalty. On behalf of the graduates, Ahmed Khalifa Bin Ghalita from the medical colleges and Ali Nabil from the College of Health Sciences delivered speeches expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the President of the UoS, for his continued support and patronage of the university and its students. He said, 'From the moment we were accepted into the University of Sharjah, we came together from all corners of the world, united under the university's embrace, sharing knowledge, experiences, and the richness of diverse cultures and civilisations. Sultan Bin Ahmed praises remarkable progress of UoS

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed welcomed the Board members, appreciating their constructive efforts and supportive views on the university's remarkable progress at various academic, research, and administrative levels. He extended his thanks and appreciation to Dr Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi for his significant efforts in leading the university during the past period, which contributed to the university's development in various fields. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed praised the University's progress and its continued efforts to maintain its prestigious status among universities. This is achieved through the continuous development of the scientific research system and the alignment of its academic programmes with global developments and modern technological advancements, in line with the needs of the business sector, 21st-century skills, and the future aspirations of students. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed expressed his pride in the university's remarkable progress in applied scientific research aimed at serving and developing the community, and in the university's advancement in various international rankings. He affirmed his pride in the distinguished position the university has attained locally, regionally, and globally. He also expressed his special appreciation to the faculty members for their significant efforts over the past period, through meetings and interactive workshops. These efforts aimed to evaluate the university's performance and develop recommendations for continuous improvement and development, by devising executive action plans to ensure the university maintains its prestigious academic standing and reputation, and its leadership at the national and regional levels. The Board approved the university's operating budget for the 2025-2026 academic year, amounting to Dhs1.27 billion. The Board also approved the graduation of a new batch of students who have completed their graduation requirements by the end of the spring semester of 2024-2025. This total number of graduates is 2,026, including 1,643 bachelor's degrees, 16 postgraduate diplomas, 302 master's degrees, and 65 doctoral degrees. The Board of Trustees also approved several new academic programmes that meet the needs of the changing labour market and provide the necessary competencies for development, thus supporting the economic and social growth of the country and the region. These programmes include: a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership in Higher Education, a Master of Interior Architecture in Adaptive Reuse, a Master of Science in Safety Engineering, a Master of Science in Innovation and Construction Management, a Master of Laws and Economics, a Professional Master in Shari'a Supervision and Auditing, and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. The Board also approved the establishment of two research centres: the Exeter-Sharjah Centre for Global Studies, which aims to help support interaction and communication between communities and their impact on various aspects of life. The second is the Centre for Advanced Biotechnology, which aims to support advanced interdisciplinary research and enhance international cooperation in vital areas related to sustainable development, innovation, and creativity, and to contribute to achieving research objectives in many important fields, especially in biotechnology. The Board approved the promotion of 22 faculty members, including 8 to the rank of full professor and 14 to associate professor. This reflects the University's commitment to supporting its academic competencies and enhancing its educational and research standing, and is in appreciation of the influential scientific research provided by faculty members, their adoption of modern teaching and learning methods, and their efforts in serving and developing the community. The Board reviewed a report by Dr Essam Al-Din Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, which addressed the University's performance and achievements during the 2024-2025 academic year. WAM
