PCB confident it can convince CWI to play more T20Is instead of ODIs
Lahore, Jul 8 (PTI) Pakistan Cricket Board is confident that it can still convince Cricket West Indies (CWI) to scrap the three-match ODI series and instead play more T20Is in July-August this year. PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed said on Tuesday that talks with the West Indies board are in the final stages and a decision is expected in the next couple of days. "As you know, we have the T20 World Cup coming up early next year, so our aim is to give the team as much T20 exposure as possible," Sumair told a press conference here. Interestingly, even as the PCB officials engage with the West Indies board, the hosts have already begun sale of tickets for the originally-scheduled three T20Is and as many ODIs. Pakistan is scheduled to play the T20s in Lauderhill, Florida and the ODIs in Trinidad. The West Indies board has offered a special scheme to sell tickets, including a "buy one, get one free" deal. The single-ticket prices have been reduced by 50 per cent. For the ODIs, ticket prices range between USD 8 to 175. But Sumair insisted the talks are still ongoing. "For us, the preparations for the next T20 World Cup are a priority and that is why we lined up only T20Is against Bangladesh, and are also asking the West Indies board to increase the T20 matches and drop the ODIs,: he added. "You'll hear more about this in the next 1-2 days," he added. Sumair also mentioned that the squad for the West Indies tour will be announced once the match formats are finalised. If the ODIs remain in place, the board might name separate squads for the two formats. The PCB is also trying to line up a T20I tri-series in the UAE with Afghanistan and the UAE, although it is Afghanistan which is due to play in Pakistan in August.

Ballari Zilla Panchayat CEO favours systematic approach to SCs Sub-Categorisation Survey
Ballari Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Harris Sumair has directed officials to ensure a well-organised and comprehensive approach to the Scheduled Castes Sub-Categorisation Survey 2025 scheduled over three phases from May 5 to May 23. Inaugurating a training workshop at the Zilla Panchayat Hall here, Mr. Sumair addressed master trainers and technical officials from all Assembly constituencies in the district. He said that the survey will be conducted under the one-man inquiry commission headed by H.N. Nagamohan Das to scientifically collect detailed demographic and social data from Scheduled Castes (SCs) households for the purpose of internal reservation classification. 'The survey must be executed methodically to ensure that no SCs household is left out,' he said, stressing that complete and error-free data collection is critical. He further instructed officials to take full responsibility for their assigned duties and adhere strictly to survey protocols. According to details Mr. Sumair provided, surveyors need to visit households from May 9 to 17, collecting data using a mobile application. Each surveyor is expected to gather information from 300 households based on block-level divisions. From May 19 to 21, the focus will shift to identifying and covering any households missed during the initial phase. For families that are still left out, the government will provide an option to self-submit their information online. Mr. Sumair emphasised that the survey must be inclusive, accountable and executed without administrative lapses. 'The survey will enumerate all 101 SCs communities recognised in Karnataka. To oversee the process, a State-level monitoring committee is in place, along with a district-level coordination committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner. Efforts in Ballari must be exemplary and error-free as part of the larger State-wide initiative,' he said. Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department Mallikarjun B., along with State-trained district-level master trainers Syed Bhasha, Mallikarjun and K.S. Shabarish Gupta, were present. Taluk-level trainers, officials from the Social Welfare Department, Block Education Officers and other stakeholders also attended the session.
