Why is everyone losing their minds over The Rookie?

As someone who gets paid to watch television, I like to think I'm something of an expert — not a lot passes me by. But I'm ashamed to say this long-running series, about a mature-age rookie policeman (played by perennial favourite Nathan Fillion) and his colleagues, sailed straight past me. Which is odd, because it's been on air since 2018 and streams in Australia on no less than three services. I know! What? And HOW? It wasn't until I recently hit the streets of suburban Perth that I even realised The Rookie was a thing . Ever on the search for a good yarn, I took to the streets to vox pop the good people of my home city to find out what they were watching, and it was there that I discovered every second person was inhaling this show. What was stranger, it appeared love for it crossed race, age, gender and socio-economic demographics. Intrigued, I figured I should take a look — and actually, I kinda liked it. It felt a little bit like that other beloved long-running series, Law & Order. It's a crime procedural with a tune-in-and-tune-out flavour to it: you can dip in and out each episode to enjoy the stand-alone stories, but like that other show, it has some really well-drawn characters whose story arcs are enough to keep you interested through the seasons. Turns out, there are plenty ahead for me to dive into — season six is dropping this week on Disney Plus, and 7Plus is up to date with all seasons and has all episodes, with the most recent seventh season imminent (they will have this exclusively for a year). So it looks like I have roughly 125 episodes to get across. Better get my skates on! The Summer I Turned Pretty is back for a third and final season. Credit: Erika Doss/Prime This third and final season sees Belly finishing up her junior year at college and setting off to reunite with everyone's favourite brothers. Who truly has her heart? Conrad or Jeremiah? Or perhaps neither? Over three seasons I've adored spending summers in this idyllic world, and I'm bursting with anticipation to see how producers wrap up Jenny Han's trilogy of novels for the small screen. Word on the street is that it differs from the books — colour me intrigued! Sorry, not sorry: I adore this teen drama. Fifteen-year-old me can't get enough. Honestly, I've never met a Stephen King novel I didn't love. So I'll be tuning in to see how this tale, about a boy who's mysteriously kidnapped and sent to live at a strange facility, translates to the small screen. Bonus points: Mary-Louise Parker stars. Fill it with this period crime drama, set in 1946 London. It's from the same creator, so chances are it will have some of the flavour. This is getting lots of buzz. The Summer I Turned Pretty's Lola Tung issues six-word plea to fans ahead of final season

The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung has one important request for fans ahead of the show's season three premiere: 'Please don't threaten to kill someone.' Tung, 22, leads Amazon Prime Video's hit adaptation of Jenny Han's romance trilogy as Isabel 'Belly' Conklin, who finds herself in a complicated love triangle with two brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). The third and final season, premiering July 15, features a two-year time jump. As Belly approaches the end of her junior year in college, she's looking forward to another summer with her soulmate, Jeremiah. 'Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life,' reads an official logline. 'Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same.' In a new interview with Teen Vogue, Tung addressed the anticipated strong reactions to the show's messy three-way romance. 'I think we see with a lot of these love-triangle stories, people want the leading girl to end up with someone,' she acknowledged. 'When people have an attachment to the characters, they want to see it come together at the end. I'm so grateful that they care so much, but people get a little scary about it.' She made a heartfelt plea: 'Please don't threaten to kill someone if something doesn't go your way. I promise you, it's not that serious. Jenny [Han] is so smart and she cares so much about the story and making it the best story that it can be. It will be okay.' However, if the show chooses to closely follow its source material, a majority of fans will likely be overjoyed by the ending. Debuting in 2022, The Summer I Turned Pretty charmed audiences with its picturesque, fictional New England town of Cousins Beach, where a majority of the drama ensued. 'When we were filming that first season, it was truly like summer camp,' Tung told Teen Vogue. 'We would just hang out together and go to the beach and be like, 'Oh my God, can you believe that we're getting to do this thing that we love with each other?' I can't even explain the feeling, but I will always remember it and have those memories.' The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will be available to stream in full July 15 on Prime Video.

The Summer I Turned Pretty episodes 1-2 release date: When and where to watch Belly and Fisher brothers' complicated love triangle

The Summer I Turned Pretty episodes 1-2 release date: After nearly two summers of waiting, The Summer I Turned Pretty is finally returning, and fans are bracing themselves for what promises to be the most emotional season yet. Season 3 isn't just another chapter in Belly Conklin and the Fisher Brothers' story; it's the end of the road. The bittersweet conclusion to Jenny Han's beloved trilogy is almost here, and all eyes are on what happens next in that complicated love triangle between Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad. From day one, the young adult romance has gripped viewers with a sun-soaked journey through first love, heartbreak, grief, and personal growth. And now it's time for fans to find out Belly's ultimate choice. The Summer I Turned Pretty trailer: Belly is no longer the girl from Cousins Beach The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 picks up two years after the events of Season 2, and Belly is now in her junior year of college. She's not the same girl who first arrived that summer, but the beach, the memories, and the unresolved feelings come rushing back the moment she sets foot there. As seen in the trailer for the show, Belly is now engaged to Jeremiah. The two have clearly gotten closer in the time jump, but their decision to take things to the next level sparks tension, not just between them and their families, but within Belly herself. Belly's mother, Laurel, is against the wedding, and while Conrad is heartbroken, he has no option but to accept their decision. Episode 1 will set the tone for this inner conflict, as she tries to convince herself she's made the right choice, even as the past continues to pull at her. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 cast: Who's returning? The main cast is all back for the final season. Lola Tung returns as Belly, carrying the emotional weight of the turbulent past with Conrad and her young love with Jeremiah. Gavin Casalegno is back as Jeremiah, now more thoughtful than ever. And yes, Christopher Briney returns as Conrad, the brooding first love who never really left Belly's heart. Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer return as Steven and Taylor, whose relationship also takes centre stage this season. Jackie Chung is back as Laurel, while a few new faces also join the cast, introducing fans to characters' college lives and the world beyond Cousins Beach. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3: What to expect? While previous seasons saw characters navigating the complexities of love and loss, the new season will see them making more mature choices that will shape their future. The teaser and trailer both hint at confrontations, but more importantly, a wedding that may—or may not—happen. Jenny Han, who once again serves as co-showrunner, has confirmed that while the show takes inspiration from the third book (We'll Always Have Summer), it won't follow it to the letter. That means even readers don't know exactly how things will end, and that's part of the thrill. And while you may know from the books who Belly ends up with, fans now are convinced that at this point, she might end up choosing herself. The Summer I Turned Season 3 episodes 1-2 release date: When and where to watch? Prime Video has officially confirmed that The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 will premiere with two back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. New episodes will drop weekly every Wednesday until the finale airs on September 17, 2025. So mark your calendar. Whether you're Team Conrad, Team Jeremiah, or Team Belly-needs-a-minute-alone, this final summer is about to begin.

'The Summer I Turned Pretty' S3: Author Jenny Han Teases How It Will Differ From The Book

The Summer I Turned Pretty returns for its third and final season on July 16. And with it, fans unanswered questions regarding Conrad's disappearance and his ongoing will-they won't-they situation with Belly. From July 16, you'll be able to watch the final 11 episodes on Prime Video, with a weekly programming release. As for how the season will play out, the series may differ from how fans expect it to. In a recent interview with People, Jenny Han, the creator of the novels which inspired the show revealed that the final season 'might not always happen in the way that [they]'re expecting.' Christopher Briney, who stars as Conrad also warned fans that they shouldn't be so convinced the season will go as they believe it will. In his cover story with Entertainment Weekly, he stated 'You have not read the scripts!' in response to Han who stated, 'There are surprises. And there are things that aren't exactly like the books.' Given that the first two seasons received a bit of a shake-up - what with the introduction of Aunt Julia and Skye in the second series, as well as the Beach House almost getting sold - there are a lot of changes that could be added to the third season. But rather than viewing this as a point of concern, Han has made sure that long-standing fans of the novel will be satisfied. 'There are a couple of moments that people really love from the books that I knew that people were wanting to see,' Han stated. 'I wanted to make sure that I was going to really service those fans who've been following the story for a really long time.' While it's uncertain what exact changes will be made, Briney indicated that some of it may have something to do with which brother Belly ends up choosing in the end. With just over a week to go, all will soon be revealed, but ultimately, Han's aim is for fans to go on one final, fun journey with the characters in a way that reflects the change in age and maturity from the first season until now. ‘My Life With the Walter Boys' Season 2 First Look Photos Tease Tension With Alex After Jackie Kissed Cole

Netflix has released new photos from the second season of 'My Life With the Walter Boys,' which premieres this summer. Along with the first look images, the streamer also put out a new synopsis for Season 2, which reads: 'After leaving Silver Falls following Alex's (Ashby Gentry) love confession and her kiss with Cole (Noah LaLonde), Jackie Howard spent the summer in New York City. When Katherine convinces her to return to Colorado, Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) is determined to make amends with Alex and set boundaries with Cole while finding her place within the Walter family. But fitting back in isn't that easy. Alex – who changed a lot over the summer – isn't too thrilled about Jackie's attempts to reconnect, as he's focused on training for a risky rodeo event (and enjoying all of the new attention he's getting). Meanwhile, Cole takes on a new role at school, but when that doesn't quite fill the void left by not playing football, his old ways creep back in and cause drama. As Jackie gains acceptance in Silver Falls while trying to hold onto her Howard identity, she's forced to make a choice that could destroy everything she's worked to rebuild.'
