Summerside, P.E.I., man arrested for stolen truck, tools

Summerside Police Services arrested a 41-year-old man in relation to a break, enter and theft that occurred on June 23. Police say the Summerside area man allegedly broke into a city-owned storage facility. During the break-in, a Dodge Ram truck along with a large quantity of power tools and equipment were stolen. The truck was recovered, and the suspect was identified as a result of the ongoing investigation. The 41-year-old man will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges, including possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited. P.E.I. RCMP seizes fentanyl, crystal meth during traffic stop

Prince Edward Island RCMP arrested two people and seized more than 220 grams of crystal methamphetamine during a targeted traffic stop in Bedeque on Friday. Officers arrested a 40-year-old man from Bedeque and a 41-year-old woman from Summerside for possession for the purpose of trafficking drugs, according to a news release. Impaired driver arrested near Canada Day event: Summerside police

Police in Summerside, P.E.I., say they arrested an impaired driver near the city's Canada Day event grounds on Tuesday. Summerside Police Services was told by the RCMP to be on the look out for a car driving toward Summerside around 9:10 p.m. The vehicle reportedly had been swerving and driving erratically. Summerside police found the vehicle on Heather Moyse Drive near the Canada Day event grounds. Police say officers activated their emergency lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop. The pursuit ended when another police car was able to cut the vehicle off and force it to stop. Police say the driver was showing signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. The man, a 39-year-old from Alberton, gave two breath samples. Police say one registered three times the legal limit and the other registered twice the legal limit. The man's vehicle was impounded and he was issued an administrative driving prohibition. Man charged following break-and-enter, foot pursuit: Summerside Police Services

A 35-year-old man has been charged following an alleged break-and-enter in Summerside, P.E.I. Summerside Police Services responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at Callbeck's Home Hardware on Water Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. A store staff member told police CCTV footage showed a masked individual on the property who 'was determined to have forced entry into a warehouse.' Officers arrived at the store while the suspect was still at the scene. 'Upon police arrival, the suspect fled on foot, leading to a brief foot pursuit. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby without further incident,' reads a social media post from Summerside Police Service. Police say the suspect is known to them and was found to be in violation of a court-ordered probation condition prohibiting him from attending Callbeck's Home Hardware. Curtis Dyment was remanded into custody.
