Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane turns to alcohol to deal with stage fright: 'I definitely get nervous'

Seth MacFarlane "definitely gets nervous" before a performance. The 51-year-old star is best known as the creator of the long-running animation series 'Family Guy' but has also released eight studio albums during his career and admitted that he has previously had to turn to alcohol to cope with stage fright. Speaking on 'CBS Sunday Mornings', when asked if he sees himself an introvert, he said: "Oh hell, yeah! I don't even wanna be here! No, I'm just kidding! "I think I had, like, four Scotches before I walked out on stage at the Oscars. I do get...I definitely get nervous." After graduating with a degree in animation from Rhode Island School of Design, Seth was all set to study a graudate programme in musical theatre but was then suddenly recruited to work on the carton series 'Johnny Bravo' 'Cow and Chicken' and 'Dexter's Laboratory' for Hana-Barbera so jumped at the chance, but admitted there was a his signature creation may never have come to fruition at all. He said: "My sister at the time was going to the Boston Conservatory of Music for musical theatre. She has a beautiful singing voice. I had gotten it into my head that I was going to go to grad school for musical theatre as well, so I applied and got in and was all set to go for their grad programme, but then I got this offer from Hanna-Barbera to come do an animated short for a series they were doing so I just had to take it and I moved out to California. "There was an incident there where I could have diverged into a completely different career and never even thought about something called 'Family Guy'." Seth also voices the roles of Peter, Brian and Stewie Griffin on 'Family Guy' and admitted that after more than 25 years on air, he has now begun to "analyse" the near-the-knuckle comedy in the programme in a way he hasn't done so before. He said: "When I started the show, my attitude was 'It doesn't matter, none of it matters. Let's do it...' and now that I'm older, I look back at the shows that we've done and think it's a little more complicated than that. "Comedy and jokes do have an impact. I have to figure out a way to maintain what the show is, and maintain this thing that people love but at the same time recognise that I am analysing it now in a different way than I did when I was younger."

Audra McDonald Responds To Patti LuPone's Shady Comments: ‘I haven't Seen Her In About 11 Years'

Source: Bruce Glikas / Getty Celebrities slamming each other in interviews is certainly nothing new, but Broadway star Patti LuPone is realizing what happens when you publicly bash a beloved (and may we add history-making) star who is Black, beautiful, talented, and unproblematic. In this case, we're talking about the one and only Audra McDonald. In a recent interview with The New Yorker , LuPone decided to air her issues with McDonald, with whom she once had a very close friendship, by stating that she was 'not a friend.' When asked in the interview how she felt about McDonald's current role on Broadway starring in Gypsy , a role in which she also played, LuPone opted for immense shade instead of an actual response. As noted in the interview, she reportedly glanced outside for 15 seconds before finally answering with, 'What a beautiful day.' McDonald is currently nominated for a Tony for her role in the stage show, and LuPone previously won a Tony for the same role back in 2008. Although she said in the interview that their falling out occurred in the past, many fans believe that LuPone is now publicly bashing McDonald because she feels that McDonald didn't support over previous comments LuPone made about the Alicia Keys-produced musical Hell's Kitchen. Now, McDonald is clapping back. In a clip from an interview with Gayle King on CBS Sunday Mornings , McDonald responded to LuPone's interview, 'If there's a rift between us, I don't know what it is.' She added, 'That's something you'd have to ask Patti about. You know, I haven't seen her in about 11 years just because we've been busy just with life. So I don't know what rift she's talking about, but you'd have to ask her.' Hell's Kitchen star Kecia Lewis previously called out LuPone for calling the show 'too loud,' comments which Lewis labeled as 'bullying,' 'offensive,' 'racially microaggressive,' 'rude' and 'rooted in privilege.' LuPone responded to the incident in the interview, saying of Lewis, 'She calls herself a veteran? Let's find out how many Broadway shows Kecia Lewis has done, because she doesn't know what the f— she's talking about. Don't call yourself a vet, bitch!' Source: Richard Hartog / Getty When told by New Yorker interviewer Michael Schulman that McDonald responded to Lewis's post with supportive emojis, LuPone replied 'Exactly,' she said. 'And I thought, 'You should know better.' That's typical of Audra.' With her 2025 Tony nomination, McDonald is now the most-nominated performer in the history of the Tonys. And I, for some reason, stuck it out — until I couldn't stick it out anymore.'

Trolls love bad-mouthing the beauty industry, but they're wrong

Dear Pete2444, I hope this column finds you well — or at least better rested than you seem most Sunday mornings. You appear to have permanently taken up residence on the wrong side of the bed … so I wanted to check, Pete2444, is everything OK? I have done my very best to bite my (perfectly lined) lip. I know the golden rule: ignore and rise above. 'Never respond to the trolls, it's what they want,' is the general advice you're given when you write a column or appear on live television. But enough is enough. Last week it was: 'How vain and self-obsessed can you be to talk about make-up all day?' The week before you put caps lock on to troll my frizz
