‘This is the one everyone wants to win': Davey Todd thrilled to make it a hat-trick of Solo wins at Southern 100
Todd beat a determined Dean Harrison, with Michael Dunlop rounding out the podium positions in third. Both Todd and Harrison blasted the previous outright lap record, which was set by Harrison in 2022 at 116.941mph. Todd (8TEN Racing BMW) raised the benchmark to 117.414mph in the nine-lap finale but runner-up Harrison had the consolation of the absolute record following a final lap of 117.54mph on his Honda. Todd won the blue riband highlight for the first time in 2022 and repeated the feat again last year after the race was cancelled in 2023 following a fatal accident. He took the spoils by just 0.413s from Harrison, with Dunlop having a somewhat lonely ride to third on his MD Racing BMW. Todd's Solo Championship success completed a quadruple for the 29-year-old this year after Superbike and Supersport victories on Wednesday, and a Superbike double on Thursday. 'This is the one everybody wants to win,' said a jubilant Todd. 'I didn't want to show all my cards in the other races and I think everybody was keeping a bit in hand for this last race. 'I let Dean past because I wanted to sit behind him for a bit but he was trying to slow the pace up to get the others involved, so I put my head down and did some decent laps. 'I knew if I could hit all my marks and not make any mistakes then we should be good.' Harrison, a double winner at the TT in the Superstock races, said his Honda was at a disadvantage against Todd's BMW on the fastest parts of the course. 'I led for a bit but he has the edge on me down the big straights here,' Harrison said. 'But the Superstock Honda has done well, to be fair, and thanks to everyone for helping me out. 'I'm happy to be on the podium and of course I wanted to win, but you can't win them all.' Todd won thee Senior race by two-tenths-of-a-second from Harrison, with Dunlop 16.4s in arrears in third. Dunlop later won the second Supersport race on his Milwaukee Ducati for his 26th Southern 100 victory. The Ballymoney man had finished third in the first race behind Mike Browne and Todd, but Dunlop turned the tables to wrap up his only win at this year's 70th anniversary event. Dunlop was locked in battle with Todd as the duo shattered the lap record to set up a grandstand finish. Todd (Milenco by Padgett's Honda) tried all he could to get past, but Dunlop defended his lines and won by 0.176s. Browne was almost seven seconds back in third on the Russell Racing Yamaha. 'I had far better pace in that race,' Dunlop said. 'I'm not sure who had the fastest lap but I knew me and Davey were close. 'I knew he would try and slipstream me the whole way but I was just very scrappy on that last lap because I was trying to keep things tight.' Yorkshireman Jamie Coward finished fourth ahead of Rob Hodson (Yamaha) and Joe Yeardsley ( Yamaha). Wigan's Hodson made it a double in the Lightweight class on the SMT Paton after Todd ran into problems with the front brake on Clive Padgett's Paton. Todd dropped back but rallied to claim the runner-up spot, with Michael Sweeney holding off Paul Jordan for third. Veteran Irish road racer Paul Cranston was back on the rostrum in the Supersport B race, finishing second behind newcomer John Marsh. Dungannon's Cranston won the first race on Wednesday, 43 years after his last win at the Billown course. Dennis Booth from Kells finished third yesterday behind Marsh and Cranston. Isle of Man TT double winners Ryan and Callum Crowe were victorious in the Sidecar Championship race with a new lap record at over 103mph as they brought the curtain down on the 2025 meeting.

Davey Todd thrilled to ‘turn the tables' and mark himself as the man to beat at Southern 100
Todd won the first Superbike and Supersport races and narrowly missed out a hat-trick after he was forced to settle for the runner-up spot in the Supertwin race. The Yorkshireman set three lap records as racing commenced in perfect conditions around the 4.25-mile Billown course and Todd will now be focused on retaining the Solo Championship title in the feature Superbike race. Riding the 8TEN Racing BMW, Todd was a runaway winner in the Ellan Vannin Fuels Senior race, pulling away from Honda's Dean Harrison and establishing a new lap record for the race at 116.409mph. He won by 4.5s after seven laps, with Harrison 1.2s up on Manx racer Nathan Harrison (H&H Motorcycles Honda) in third. Michael Dunlop finished fourth on his MD Racing BMW, 6.8s behind Nathan Harrison, with Mike Browne fifth on his Honda. Todd was beaten twice by Dean Harrison in the Superstock races at the TT last month and was delighted to turn the tables on his rival. 'I love that bike, the 8TEN Racing BMW, the bike is fantastic and I've loved it all year,' he said. 'I finished second in the Superstock races at the TT to Dean, so it's nice to turn the tables in that one. 'I've been good off the start in general and it took me a couple of laps to get into it after the Supertwin race.' Runner-up Harrison is riding a different 1000cc Honda from the bike he rode to victory at the TT and said he had no answer for Todd. 'It's a little bit different to the bike I rode at the TT and I've stuck a couple of Honda Racing fairings on it,' said the Bradford man. 'The bike's wheelieing everywhere so we'll make a few tweaks for tomorrow and have another go.' Rob Hodson finished sixth on the SMT Racing Honda ahead of Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing Honda). In a scintillating H&H Motorcycles Supersport race, Todd and Browne were locked together throughout the seven-lap encounter. Dunlop, who started from pole on the Milwaukee Ducati, had been trying to close the gap in third when he retired from the race with two laps remaining. The leading duo broke away from the chasing pack and traded blows for the lead, but Todd broke the lap record on the Milenco by Padgett's Honda on the final lap with a speed of 111.544mph to take the win by 1.256s from Browne (BPE by Russell Racing Yamaha). Michael Sweeney finished an excellent third on his Yamaha after prevailing in a breathless battle for the last rostrum place, crossing the line ahead of Nathan Harrison, Jordan and Hodson. 'I'm just stoked with that and I really enjoyed the battle,' said Todd. 'It's always nice when you can win a race with a battle like that.' Hodson (SMT Racing Paton) capitalised when Todd (Milenco by Padgett's Paton) ran slightly wide on the final lap to win the opening Supertwin race, with Manx rider Joe Yeardsley 14 seconds adrift in third. Todd set a lap record for the race at 106.095mph. The Supersport B race was rerun at the end of the evening following a red flag crash involving six riders on the first lap. No injuries were reported. Veteran Ulsterman Paul Cranston won the race from fellow Northern Ireland man Dennis Booth by only 0.330s. It was Cranston's first win at the Southern 100 in 43 years. The opening Sidecar race was won by Manx brothers Callum and Ryan Crowe.

Isle of Man TT star among big names in the field for return of Tandragee 100
The popular Co Armagh meeting is a favourite for competitors, with the spectacular 5.3-mile course often referred to as the 'Mini TT'. Crucial resurfacing work has now been carried out, which had prevented the famous race from taking place in 2023 and 2024. Event co-ordinator and former Clerk of the Course Anne Forsythe said: 'After two long years of not being able to host the event due to a delay in getting resurfacing work carried out, we are thrilled to be celebrating 61 years of the Around A Pound Tandragee 100 Motorcycle Road Races. 'We would like to thank the then Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd, for committing the necessary funds in 2024/25 and all those councillors, MPs and MLAs who supported us in this venture. 'A special mention also to Ian Milne for assisting us over the three years it took to get this across the line.' Traditionally held in May, the event has been moved to a new June date, with practice and qualifying taking place on Friday, June 27 and the main race day on Saturday, June 28. Isle of Man TT star Conor Cummins is among the standout names on the entry list with Dungannon's Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Team. The Ramsey man claimed a best result of fifth in the second Superstock race at the TT last week with a fastest lap of 131.528mph on the BMW M1000RR, which was the quickest ever by a rider for John Burrows' team. Cummins raced at Tandragee once before, making his debut in 2007 on Yamaha machinery for the JMF Millsport Racing team. Another leading contender is fellow TT rider Shaun Anderson, who is a member of the organising North Armagh Club. Anderson was fortunate to escape injury after a crash in the Superbike TT race at Joey's, which left him with cuts and bruises. The Banbridge man – a Mountain Course winner in 2024 in the Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix race – will be a key protagonist at Tandragee. Skerries rider Michael Sweeney is not listed on the official press release but recently expressed a desire to return to Tandragee. The Republic of Ireland rider achieved a lifetime dream of finishing on the podium in May at the North West 200 on his Aprilia Supertwin machine and would be the rider to beat if he arrives in the paddock. The line-up also includes former Senior Manx Grand Prix winners Joe Yeardsley and Daniel Ingham, plus Ballymoney's Darryl Tweed – also a past MGP winner – and the Isle of Man's Marcus Simpson, who was the runner-up behind Yeardsley in the 2023 Senior race at the Manx. Newcomer Amalric Blanc from France adds international flavour to the grid and is fresh from an impressive 12th place in the opening Superstock race at the TT on his 1000cc Honda. Ballymena's Neil Kernohan and Ryan Whitehall from the Isle of Wight will be out to make their mark at Tandragee, while Andy Farrell, Liam and James Chawke are among a large contingent of competitors from the Republic of Ireland. Derek McGee, a double winner at the Cookstown 100 in April, is set to miss out through injury after he was caught up in a crash during the opening round of the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) at Hengelo in the Netherlands in May. A total of 113 competitors and 50 newcomers have entered this year's race, which has an increased prize fund of £13,000. Roads will close on Friday, June 27 for practice from 11.00am-9.00pm and on Saturday, June 28 for racing from 9.30am-7.00pm.

Michael Dunlop sets lap record on way to 33rd TT victory: ‘It's a great wee bike'
The Northern Ireland rider's record haul of victories around the 37.73-mile Mountain Course now stands at a staggering 33 wins ahead of today's final Senior race. Dunlop has also won both Supersport races this year and hasn't been off the podium in any race he has started, finishing second in the Superbike race and earning two thirds in the Superstock races. He went into the Entire Cover Insurance Supertwin race as the hot favourite following a wide-margin win over Manx rider Michael Evans in the opener. True to form, Dunlop was rarely threatened, opening a lead of 12 seconds over Davey Todd (Milenco by Padgett's Paton) after the first of three laps. He lost a few seconds during his pit-stop to Todd, but Dunlop quickly restored a commanding advantage of 14.5s by the end of the penultimate lap. He blasted the lap record on his final circuit with a speed of 123.056mph to win by 26.77s from Todd, with Dominic Herbertson 20.5s back in third on the Melbray Racing Paton. Afterwards, Dunlop said he was surprised by his lap record feat and felt he had rolled off the pace slightly to nurse his Paton home safely for another TT success. 'Very nice, was that on the last lap?' Dunlop said. 'I'm a bit surprised because I backed off a little bit because I saw I had a bit of a lead. 'It [gap] dropped away down after the pit-stop and came back up again. I said 'I'll get a push on here', and then on the last lap we just nursed it. 'That's three Patons in here and people say it's because I'm on a Paton [wins races]. 'They are a great wee bike and the bike has been mint, that's a double again. 'I'd like to have a lap on my own without any stress to see what I could really do but thanks to everybody. 'My main thing is it's another win under the belt. I'm happy enough and my job is to win the race.' Giving his thoughts on his chances in today's Senior, Dunlop added: 'I'll have and that's four this week already, so it's a bit of an achievement again, so I'm happy. We'll just keep going and see what we're made of.' Runner-up Todd said he gave it his all but claimed his Paton was no match for Dunlop's machine. 'We're never going to compete with that thing, there's absolutely zero chance, but not taking anything away from Michael because he's riding super hard,' said Todd. 'I rode that as hard as I could and I'm super-stoke to get the Milenco by Padgett's team up on the box again. 'Clive [Padgett] bought this Paton here and tried to make the best of it. 'I really struggled in that first race and I think the boys really got their heads together, and Clive's given me a great bike.' Herbertson was toasting his second TT podium after previously finishing on the rostrum in the Supertwin class last year on a Paton for John Burrows' team. 'I'm absolutely over the moon,' he said. 'The team bought a Paton, we've dug in and I don't know what to say. 'Five-and-a-half weeks to turn this around and I cannot thank everyone enough. 'Being number 13 – unlucky for some but not for us.' Manx rider Michael Evans, second in race one, retired on the opening lap, while Rob Hodson from Wigan – third in the opening Supertwin race – dropped out with a problem while lying third. Paul Jordan from Magherafelt came home in fourth on the Jackson Racing Aprilia, 3.1s behind Herbertson, with Mike Browne (KMR/Jack Reid Cars Kawasaki) and Adam McLean (Flitwick Motorcycles Yamaha) from Tobermore completing the top six.
