Escaped Quebec prisoner has ties to southwestern Ontario
OPP are searching for a man accused of escaping a Quebec prison Sat., July 5, 2025. Photo: submitted Provincial police were advised about an escapee from a Quebec correctional institution on Sunday. The Surete du Quebec Police Service said that an inmate convicted in 1992 of murder, had escaped from the Archambault Incarceration Centre in Quebec. The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit is now assisting in this investigation. Police say that the wanted man, Lory Bill Germa, may be in Southwestern Ontario, more specifically in the South Bruce or Hanover areas. Lory Bill Germa, 69, is described as Metis, bald head, brown eyes, five foot eight inches, 165 lbs, with a scar on his left eyebrow. Germa has many tattoos including: a sword, 'Carol', flying skull, seahorses, dragons, grim reaper, cloud and lightning bolts. Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating this man but say if he's observed do not approach him but do immediately contact police at 911. The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released when they become available. Quebec man wanted for intimate partner violence arrested in N.B.

(CTV Atlantic/Avery MacRae) Saint John Police Force officers arrested a 33-year-old man who was wanted on an arrest warrant in Quebec. The police force received information from the New Richmond PQ, Surete du Quebec on June 30, that an arrest warrant had been extended to New Brunswick, a news release from Saint John Police Force reads. The warrant was in relation to an alleged intimate partner violence incident. Police received information the suspect was staying at an address in Saint John. Missing Montreal girl, 3, found in eastern Ontario

The girl last seen on Sunday at approximately 9:45 a.m. in LaSalle, a borough of Montreal, according to police. She was found in St. Albert, Ont. Wednesday afternoon, police say. The toddler's mother has been arrested. Rachel-Ella Todd, 34, appeared in court on Monday evening to be charged with child abandonment. CTV News Ottawa has removed the toddler's name and identifying information from this article.

Gatineau, Que. man fined $6,200 after being observed going 200 km/h on Hwy. 50

(THE CANADIAN PRESS/Christinne Muschi) An 18-year-old Gatineau, Que. man is facing $6,200 in fines and may face charges after being observed driving over 200 km/h on a highway in western Quebec over the weekend. The Sûreté du Québec says at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday, officers spotted a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds on Hwy. 50 at the Georges exit. Police say the driver was going 158 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. 'As the officer's vehicle merged with traffic to intercept the vehicle, the vehicle made several zigzag passes and was travelling at over 200 km/h,' police said in a media release Monday morning. 'The officer lost sight of the vehicle but continued on to locate it.' The officer provided information to Gatineau police and officers with MRC Papineau. 'A few minutes later, police were notified that a similar vehicle had collided with a guardrail on Chemin Lépine,' police said. 'At the scene, the officer confirmed that it was indeed the same vehicle.' Police say the driver could face charges of dangerous driving and fleeing. 'He also received tickets totalling $6,276 and 22 demerit points for speeding, driving a vehicle at a speed likely to endanger the safety of others, driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and failing to stop his vehicle immediately when required to do so by a peace officer in the course of his duties.: The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
