I love the way Malayalam filmmakers extract thebest out of their actors: Sushmitha Bhat
Bengaluru-based actor Sushmitha Bhat , who was last seen on the Malayalam screen alongside Mammootty in Dominic and the Ladies's Purse, talks about how she is loving the way the film industry is offering her roles that showcase her acting skills. 'My entry into the Malayalam film industry was quite out-of-the-blue and unexpected. I came across this audition call, I gave it a shot, and they chose me. On these sets, I found the intensity of work and the clarity of vision truly impressive. I love how directors extract the best performances from their actors. Working with a legendary artiste like Mammootty was a dream come true. It gave me a wonderful start in Malayalam cinema , as I have already signed up for my next one. The comfort and respect provided on sets, especially for a young female artiste like me, in both Malayalam and Tamil industries, create an environment where we can really thrive.' About her thought process while picking roles, Sushmitha says, 'I never set out with the ambition of becoming a heroine. Instead, I decided to focus on choosing roles that add depth to the story that would also help me grow as an actor, regardless of the screen space I got. This approach has been working beautifully for me. I'm happy that even modern scripts today offer meaningful opportunities for artistes who don't want to be typecast like me.'
