Bengaluru-based actor
Sushmitha Bhat
, who was last seen on the Malayalam screen alongside
Mammootty
in Dominic and the Ladies's Purse, talks about how she is loving the way the film industry is offering her roles that showcase her acting skills. 'My entry into the Malayalam film industry was quite out-of-the-blue and unexpected. I came across this audition call, I gave it a shot, and they chose me. On these sets, I found the intensity of work and the clarity of vision truly impressive. I love how directors extract the best performances from their actors. Working with a legendary artiste like Mammootty was a dream come true. It gave me a wonderful start in
Malayalam cinema
, as I have already signed up for my next one. The comfort and respect provided on sets, especially for a young female artiste like me, in both Malayalam and Tamil industries, create an environment where we can really thrive.'
About her thought process while picking roles, Sushmitha says, 'I never set out with the ambition of becoming a heroine. Instead, I decided to focus on choosing roles that add depth to the story that would also help me grow as an actor, regardless of the screen space I got. This approach has been working beautifully for me. I'm happy that even modern scripts today offer meaningful opportunities for artistes who don't want to be typecast like me.'

This Is What AR Rahman Craves At Midnight, Maestro's Choice Triggers Health Debate

Last Updated: Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman admitted to late-night burger cravings despite his disciplined lifestyle. Experts advise healthier alternatives to avoid health risks Oscar-winning composer and global icon AR Rahman, known as much for his soulful music as for his serene and spiritual lifestyle, recently revealed an unexpectedly relatable habit – late-night burger cravings. In a candid interview with Curly Tales, Rahman spoke about his disciplined daily routine, which begins with prayer and follows a restrained diet. Yet, once in a while, temptation knocks. 'Sometimes I feel like eating at night," he admitted with a smile, 'and my son orders a burger for me." The revelation left fans both surprised and amused, as the otherwise health-conscious maestro opened up about his rare indulgences. Rahman's confession has reignited public discussions around late-night snacking; particularly the health risks that accompany it. Nutritionists caution that eating heavy meals close to bedtime can disrupt the body's circadian rhythm. When the stomach is burdened during resting hours, digestion slows down, potentially leading to weight gain, disturbed sleep, and even metabolic issues like diabetes. According to experts, our bodies are wired to wind down at night, not process rich, calorie-laden food. 'Late-night eating, especially of fast food, can interfere with both digestion and quality of sleep," said a Mumbai-based dietician. It's not about one burger, but about patterns. If this becomes a habit, it may cause long-term health consequences, she added. That said, occasional cravings are natural, and manageable. Instead of reaching for a burger or fries, health experts suggest lighter, nutritious alternatives. Greek yogurt topped with fruit, nut butter on whole-grain crackers, or air-popped popcorn can satisfy hunger without overloading the digestive system. For those with a sweet tooth, bananas with almond butter or a handful of pistachios can do the trick. And if spicy or tangy is what you're after, fermented foods like kefir, kombucha, or a spoonful of lemon-amla chutney offer both taste and health benefits. Rahman's anecdote may seem light-hearted, but it reflects a larger truth: health is about balance, not perfection. A lifestyle that includes structure, spiritual grounding, and the occasional indulgence can be far more sustainable than rigid extremes. In the end, life is about moderation, Rahman said with a calm smile. First Published:

'Kannappa' had a strong start on Day 1, collecting Rs 9.35 crore across languages, with Telugu at Rs 8.25 crore, Hindi at Rs 65 lakh, Tamil at Rs 15 lakh, Kannada at Rs 10 lakh, and Malayalam at Rs 20 lakh. The film saw a slight dip on Saturday with Rs 7.15 crore, and Sunday's collection stood at Rs 6.6 crore (as per rough data), with a marginal drop of 7.69%. However, the first Monday has seen a more significant drop, as expected for a weekday, bringing in only Rs 55 lakhs across all languages. The total box office tally as per the live updates for 'Kannappa' now stands at Rs 23.65 crore. The Monday morning occupancy reflected the dip. In the Telugu market, which has been the film's strongest territory, Kannappa recorded an overall occupancy of 12.22%. Tamil occupancy stood at 10.74%, while the Hindi version saw only 3.91%. Malayalam occupancy was slightly higher at 5.43%. These numbers mark a clear decline from the weekend high, showing that the film's weekday performance will now depend on strong word of mouth and continued family audience support. Vishnu Manchu plays the titular role, with star-studded appearances by Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, as Parvati Devi, Mohanlal as Kirata, and Rebel Star as Rudra. The film also stars Preity Mukhundhan, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, and more. Vishnu Manchu recently admitted that 'Kannappa's strong box office opening was "100%" due to Prabhas' presence. In an interaction, as per a Hindustan Times report, he said he had no ego in accepting that the audience showed up because of Prabhas. While acknowledging the film's emotional depth, Vishnu credited his "brother" for bringing massive attention to the mythological drama.
