Naidu to lay foundation stone for Gandikota project on August 1
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Wednesday informed that the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for Gandikota project in YSR Kadapa district on August 1. The project is being implemented at a cost of ₹78 crore under the Swadesh Darshan scheme with the support of the Central government. The Minister said that to promote the State tourism, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will organise an exhibition at Udaipur in Rajasthan on August 2 and 3. The platform will also be utilised to invite and engage aspiring investors and entrepreneurs to contribute to the development of tourism in the State. He said that as part of the efforts to attract investors into the tourism sector in the State, a two-day partnership summit would be organised in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15. A Cabinet sub-committee had been formed for the purpose with the HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh at its helm, himself, and other members. 'The aim is to attract investors across various sectors in A.P.,' he said.

Yaduveer inspects Unity Mall project at Doddakere
Mysuru: Mysore MP on Monday visited Dasara Exhibition Grounds at Doddakere, opposite the Mysuru Palace, to inspect the centrally-sponsored Unity Mall project, which is being developed on 6.5 acres. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He was accompanied by Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivatsa, Karnataka State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) chief engineer Suresh Babu, and executive engineer Hemanth Kumar. During his visit, Wadiyar observed the initial stages of construction. Yaduveer said that the mall's construction, sanctioned by the Union govt at a cost of Rs 192.99 crore and implemented by KSIDC, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The project includes a Wrestling Pavilion, Sky Walk, 3D theatre, and other facilities aimed at promoting the wrestling activities for which Mysuru is renowned. The Centre has also sanctioned the construction of similar malls in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu to boost trade, commerce, hospitality, and tourism. The mall, also known as Unity Mall and inspired by Delhi Haat, will be built in Indo-Saracenic style. Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the Union govt has provided interest-free loans to establish Unity Malls in Karnataka with the primary aim of showcasing local handicrafts from all 31 districts, 28 states, and 8 union territories under one roof. The mall will also feature dedicated spaces for sandalwood products, silk products of the state, rosewood inlay works, geographical indication (GI) tagged products like Mysuru jasmine, Mysuru betelnut, Najangud rasabale, Mysuru Pak, and other Make In India products, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Mysuru region. The architectural design of the mall will embody India's unity and grandeur, incorporating elements like grand facades, atriums, and landscaping. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Amenities will include a state-of-the-art food court, parking, and designated areas for recreational and cultural activities. Additionally, there will be conference rooms, galleries, exhibition spaces, and parking facilities as per the project plan. A total of 99 stalls will be available for exhibitions, open to visitors throughout the year. The three-storeyed Unity Mall will feature a grand entry, ticket counter, food counter, bar and restaurant, mall management office, restrooms, conference room, fire safety systems, prayer hall, kids play area, commercial complexes, and a wrestlers' room on the ground floor. The first floor will include one country, one product stalls, a Mysuru painting gallery, toilet stores, multi-purpose theatres, and a 3D IMAX theatre. The second floor will house stalls related to one district, one product, other state govt stalls, and gaming facilities. The third floor will contain additional stalls, with 14 on the ground floor, 23 on the first floor, 43 on the second floor, and 19 on the third floor.

Rs 56cr approver for development of Chintpurni Devi temple: Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In response to a question asked by Kangra MP Rajeev Bhardwaj in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing monsoon session, Shekhawat informed that under the 'challenge-based destination development' component of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, Rs 24.82 crore was approved for developing tourism infrastructure in the Kaza sub-division of Lahaul-Spiti, while Rs 4.96 crore was approved for developing tourism infrastructure in Rakchham-Chitkul. He also informed that during the financial year 2016-17, the central govt approved Rs 68.34 crore under the original 'Swadesh Darshan' scheme to develop the Himalayan circuit covering Kiarighat, Shimla, Haatkoti, Manali, Kangra, Dharamshala, Bir, Palampur, and Chamba. Regarding a question about the drying up of the Dal Lake, Dharamshala, in recent years, the minister said it falls under the jurisdiction of the state govt, and the Union ministry of tourism did not have a dedicated programme for handling issues in reservoirs or reservoir conservation. AP allocated over Rs 375 cr for tourism projects
New Delhi: The Union ministry of tourism has sanctioned projects worth Rs 375.07 crore for Andhra Pradesh in the fiscal year 2024-25 under various Central sector schemes, Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat informed Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Responding to questions by MPs Sana Satish Babu and Beeda Masthan Rao Yadav, the minister said that schemes like Swadesh Darshan, Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD), and PRASHAD are aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure in coordination with state efforts. Key projects include development of the Suryalanka Beach Experience with Rs 97.52 crore and the Borra Caves–Araku–Lambasingi circuit with Rs 29.87 crore under Swadesh Darshan 2.0. Under the CBDD scheme, Rs 25 crore each has been allocated for Ahobilam and Nagarjuna Sagar Buddhist heritage projects. Additionally, under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, Rs 77.91 crore has been proposed for Gandikota's fort and gorge area, and Rs 94.44 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project in Rajamahendravaram. The PRASHAD scheme will fund Rs 25.33 crore for infrastructure development at Annavaram temple town. Minister Shekhawat also mentioned that three earlier-approved projects worth Rs 124.89 crore are still under implementation, and Rs 147.46 crore was spent between 2014–18 under the original Swadesh Darshan scheme for coastal and Buddhist circuit development in the state.

₹375 crore worth tourism projects sanctioned for A.P. in 2024-25: Union Tourism Minister Shekhawat
Union Ministry of Tourism, through its Central sector schemes, has sanctioned various projects worth ₹375.07 crore, said Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. In a written reply to the questions by Sana Satish Babu and Beedha Masthan Rao Yadav in the Rajya Sabha, Mr. Shekhawat said financial assistance was extended to the State of Andhra Pradesh under Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD 2.0), Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD), a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan, and Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD). The Minister said funds to the tune of ₹97.52 crore were sanctioned for the Suryalanka Beach project, and ₹29.871 crore for Borra Cave Experience at Araku-Lambasingi under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 in the State for the year 2024-25. Similarly, ₹25 crore each was sanctioned for the projects 'Ahobilam- a Spiritual Odyssey' and for enriching Buddhist heritage and cultural experience at Nagarjuna Sagar, under the CBDD scheme. The Minister said under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), ₹77.91 crore was allocated for the Gandikota project and ₹94.44 crore for the Akhanda Godavari scheme at Rajamahendravaram. Other allocations included ₹25.33 crore for development of pilgrimage tourism in Annavaram temple town under PRASHAD. Three projects worth ₹124.89 crore sanctioned in the previous year, are in progress. Mr. Shekhawat said Andhra Pradesh utilised funds to the tune of ₹147.46 crore sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan scheme to develop coastal circuit and Buddhist circuit projects between 2014 and 2018. *
