Kelce Gets Major Win with Horse Named (Not Taylor) ‘Swift'

Kelce Gets Major Win with Horse Named (Not Taylor) 'Swift' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Travis Kelce has one more year of professional football on the agenda before retirement opens up more doors for him. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end will go down as one of the best to ever play his position, bound for a potential first-ballot entrance into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Advertisement Through his podcast and his relationship with pop music megastar Taylor Swift, Kelce keeps himself prominent in the public eye, even without being on the field. But, he has other ventures drawing the interest of his fans as well. Kelce got himself into horse racing nearly a year ago, buying into a racehorse named Swift Delivery back in August. The name came with the animal and ironically had no connection to his significant other. Over the weekend, Swift Delivery came through for Kelce, winning its race at the Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario per the Paulick Report. It marked the first win for Kelce as a partial owner and the horse's third career victory. This all stemmed from Kelce's experience at the Kentucky Derby last year, about which he gushed during an episode of "New Heights" with his brother Jason. Advertisement "I had one of the best times ever at the Derby," he said. "I was like, 'Man, it would be so fun to get involved and see one of your horses in a race. It seems like it would be a fun thing to be a part of." That wish has since turned into action, and Kelce reaped the benefits of seeing Swift Delivery cross the finish line this past weekend. Once his career comes to a close early next year, perhaps he will find himself more enveloped in the horse racing scene. Travis Kelce lands 1st win with racehorse whose name is inspired by Taylor Swift

Swift Delivery won for the first time since the NFL star and boyfriend of Taylor Swift became involved when scoring in a race at Woodbine in Toronto, Canada Travis Kelce has scored his first number one as a racehorse owner with the unbelievably appropriately named horse Swift Delivery. The star tight end for Super Bowl winners Kansas City Chiefs has grown into a worldwide celebrity through his relationship with billionaire singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Last May after attending the Kentucky Derby for the first time he agreed to join an ownership group for the first time. At Churchill Downs, he was a guest of the Zoldan family who have stakes in racehorses with Team Valor International, one of the world 's most successful ownership syndicates who won the Kentucky Derby with Animal Kingdom. ‌ The stable has won big races all over the world and in Europe the current star is Facteur Cheval. Through his friendship with the Zoldan family, Kelce took a stake in a horse trained in Toronto, Canada. ‌ Explaining the link-up to Mirror Racing at the time, Team Valor principal Barry Irwin said: 'Travis Kelce is not just an athlete, he's transcended that. He has been a guest host on Saturday Night Live. He's just a multi-talented guy and very charismatic. 'So how the whole thing came about is through Bruce Zoldan, who is my most active and loyal client. He operates the largest retailer of recreational fireworks, Phantom Fireworks, in the US. His son Alex is a really close friend of Travis Kelce. 'Bruce attends the Kentucky Derby every year and he invited Travis Kelce this year and that's where I met him. We talked about buying into one of the horses. 'I'd been trying to buy a horse but couldn't find anything suitable. Then this one just happened to come along with the name Swift Delivery. It's kind of an amazing coincidence.' ‌ He continued: 'Mark Casse the trainer owned him with another client who got frustrated when he didn't show anything. They put him in a digital sale and Gary Barber bought him for $55,000 [ £41,000] and the first time he ran it, it won by 16 ½ lengths. 'Gary Barber, who I own a lot of horses with, knew I was looking for a horse to buy for Travis, and we worked out a deal to buy a quarter of the horse.' Swift Delivery has run five times since Kelce became involved, finishing second in the Toronto Cup in August then winning an allowance race at Woodbine on Sunday, collecting a first prize of £25,000. Swift Delivery's success could help bring more followers to racing with the New York Racing Association already floating the idea of the horse running at the prestigious Saratoga meet this summer. Irwin added: 'Travis is very popular, there is the connection with Taylor Swift who is as popular as it gets. I think it's a great thing for racing because we need all the positive publicity we can get.'

Delight for Travis Kelce as his Taylor Swift-named racehorse seals another huge win

NFL star Travis Kelce won big for the first time as owner of racehorse Swift Delivery at the weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs star bought a stake in the four-year-old last August, in partnership with owners Gary Barber, Team Valor International, Bruce Zoldan, and Steven Rocco. And Swift Delivery, trained by Hall of Famer Mark Casse, clinched the third victory of its career - the first since Kelce came onboard - at Woodbine on Sunday. The gelding swept to a two-length score in a second-level allowance contest at the Toronto track. Kelce joined the ownership last summer just ahead of Swift Delivery's debut in the Toronto Cup, where he finished second. After the news broke, many fans quickly joined the dots between the horse and the tight end's girlfriend Taylor Swift. Swift Delivery wins for Team Valor and partners at Woodbine overnight. That makes it 9 wins from the last 17 starters for the stable. 🎉🔥 Be a part of the Team Valor world. DM us to be added to our list or visit the website. "We win races others dream of" — Team Valor (@TeamValor) June 23, 2025 Many speculated over whether the horse was actually named after the popstar, and Kelce addressed the rumors during an episode of his New Heights podcast in September. 'I bought a horse, man! How about that? Old "Swift Delivery",' he said to brother Jason, before being asked if the name prompted the interest. 'You know when the stars align?,' Travis continued. 'It just feels good to jump on board.' The NFL superstar was then asked how the purchase unfolded, with Kelce never having previously been involved in the world of horse-racing. 'You have really good friends that are good people, that are into horse racing,' he explained. 'Bruce and Alex Zoldan. I've known Alex for around 10 years plus now, since I've been in the league, fellow Ohio-an. They're an awesome family. 'I've had so much fun going to events with them, and sure enough they were at the Super Bowl, they invited me to the [Kentucky] Derby this year, and I was just like, "man it'd be fun to get involved and see one of your horses in a race, that seems like it'd be a fun thing to be a part of." They had a horse that won [the Derby] in the early 2000s, called Magic Kingdom. 'They asked me if I wanted to jump in on a three-year-old they had, and the name made sense to team up with this one, it being "Swift Delivery". 'What's cool is, it's a different style of horse, some make a fast start and try and lead the pack, and then the others are the finishers, the ones that come around the last turn or the last two turns...'I just got on board because it was fun and I could team up with some good friends of mine. I like the ran Swift Delivery ran, it's more of a finishing horse, hits its top speed [at the end] and saves its juice.'
