TPCC president questions Kavitha's credibility over letter to Kharge on BC quota

Hyderabad TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the credibility of BRS MLC K. Kavitha over her letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on BC reservations, and called it a strange move. While speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, along with AICC secretary Ch Vamshichand Reddy and former MLA Sampath Kumar, he asked whether she had written the letter on behalf of the BRS or Telangana Jagruthi. 'It's not clear whom she is representing. The tone and tenor of the letter is quite strange from a person who never spoke a word on BC quota when she was an MP and MLC when her father was the Chief Minister,' he said. Mr. Goud said that Ms. Kavitha's political credibility is at stake and seeing a political vaccum, she has taken up the BC cause after being silent for 10 years. At least, she should prove if she had opposed reduction in BC reservations by her father KCR when he was the CM. The TPCC president refused to speak on Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy's remarks indirectly charging a Minister involved in Banakacherla project, and said that the party's Disciplinary Committee will take a note of it. Kharge's presence Mr. Goud said that Mr. Kharge's presence at the 'Social Justice Samara Bheri' will be a big boost to the 40,000-odd presidents of Congress village units and leaders from all levels. Mr. Kharge is set to address the gathering and give a direction to the party's grassroots leaders. On the Banakacherla project controversy, he took a dig at BRS leader Harish Rao, asking who dined with AP ministers and compromised on Telangana's water share at YSRCP leader Roja's house?

Angry families confront officials at Sigachi blast site, demand faster debris clearance

SANGAREDDY: The atmosphere at the factory turned tense on Wednesday as relatives demanded clear information about their loved ones. When AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha visited the site, they were confronted by families who blocked their vehicles and sought answers about the missing. Rajanarsimha stepped out to reassure the crowd, urging patience as debris removal continued. However, frustration mounted again later in the day, with some workers threatening to clear the rubble themselves. 'What are you doing for the past three days? How can you fail to remove debris even after using JCBs?' one of them asked. Industry vice-chairman Chidambaranathan assured that required assistance would be extended to the victims and their families. Likewise, Natarajan, Mahesh and Rajanarsimha said the government would provide support to victims.

If ceasefire with Pak possible, why not with Maoists: Telangana Congress chief

HYDERABAD: In a sharp reaction to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's criticism of Telangana Congress' appeal for initiating talks with Maoists, TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Monday wondered why a ceasefire and peace talks were not possible with left wing extremists, who are Indian citizens. He asked: 'When the same is possible with Pakistan with the intervention of US President Donald J Trump, why not with Maoists?' Speaking to the media on Monday after inspecting the arrangements for the proposed public meeting on July 4 at LB Stadium alongside ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Vakiti Srihari, MLAs and MPs, the TPCC chief said that Amit Shah was making accusations against the Congress as if the party was financing left-wing extremism. He clarified that the Maoists only sought a ceasefire and peace talks. 'We only requested a ceasefire with Maoists. Amit Shah is portraying it in different shades,' he said. Stating that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will hold a public meeting in the city against the 'fascist rule' by BJP at the Centre on July 4, he said that the party delegates from Gram Panchayat president to state office-bearers will attend the public meeting.
