TPCC president questions Kavitha's credibility over letter to Kharge on BC quota

TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the credibility of BRS MLC K. Kavitha over her letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on BC reservations, and called it a strange move.
While speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, along with AICC secretary Ch Vamshichand Reddy and former MLA Sampath Kumar, he asked whether she had written the letter on behalf of the BRS or Telangana Jagruthi.
'It's not clear whom she is representing. The tone and tenor of the letter is quite strange from a person who never spoke a word on BC quota when she was an MP and MLC when her father was the Chief Minister,' he said.
Mr. Goud said that Ms. Kavitha's political credibility is at stake and seeing a political vaccum, she has taken up the BC cause after being silent for 10 years. At least, she should prove if she had opposed reduction in BC reservations by her father KCR when he was the CM.
The TPCC president refused to speak on Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy's remarks indirectly charging a Minister involved in Banakacherla project, and said that the party's Disciplinary Committee will take a note of it.
Kharge's presence
Mr. Goud said that Mr. Kharge's presence at the 'Social Justice Samara Bheri' will be a big boost to the 40,000-odd presidents of Congress village units and leaders from all levels. Mr. Kharge is set to address the gathering and give a direction to the party's grassroots leaders.
On the Banakacherla project controversy, he took a dig at BRS leader Harish Rao, asking who dined with AP ministers and compromised on Telangana's water share at YSRCP leader Roja's house?

Cong must name its meeting ‘Samajika Anyaya Samara Bheri': Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar questioned the Congress party holding the 'Samajika Samara Bheri' (public meeting on struggles for Social Justice) in the city, attended by AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge. He said on Friday, the Congress party has ruled the 'country and our state for more than half a century, yet has never appointed a Backward Class (BC) person as Prime Minister or Chief Minister.' It exposes the betrayal of the people, especially as they have failed to implement even the six guarantees that would primarily benefit Dalits, backwards classes, and weaker sections. Against this backdrop, he demanded the justification for holding the meeting. He demanded that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge answer the people. Otherwise, this meeting should be renamed to 'Social Injustice Samara Bheri.' He said in contrast to the Congress, the BJP appointed Ram Nath Kovind, a Dalit; Draupadi Murmu, a tribal; and Abdul Kalam, a minority, as President. The BJP's history includes providing positions to 27 OBCs, 12 Dalits, 6 minorities, and 8 women in the central cabinet—a historic achievement. The BJP has also appointed him, a BC, as a central minister. Sanjay Kumar noted that he, along with other BC leaders like Dr. K. Laxman and Bandaru Dattatreya, has received significant positions. The Congress party, which once mocked Modi—who also comes from a BC background—as a 'chaiwala' if he were Prime Minister, has much to answer for. The Karimnagar MP recalled Modi's announcement that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, a BC will become the Chief Minister. He further challenged Congress on how many BCs have been appointed in the Congress state's cabinet, 'even though they claim that BCs make up more than 50 per cent of the population.' He pointed out that if BC leader Ponnam Prabhakar had been given a position, it would have been a step toward justice for BCs. How can Congress justify holding a social justice rally when they have denied BC representation? He also criticized the Congress for failing to provide women with promised financial support, such as Rs. 2,500 per month, Rs. 4,000 as a pension, Rs. 4,000 as unemployment benefits, Rs. 5 lakh in assurance for students, and Rs. 21,000 per acre for farmers, along with bonus payments. Why have they failed to deliver on the 420 promises in their manifesto, including the six guarantees? AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge needs to address these questions at the social justice rally, he demanded. Regarding the shortage of fertilisers, he stated that the Congress and BRS parties are unfairly blaming the central government for the urea shortage as the local body elections approach. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who is experienced, is being misled by wrong information. During the last agriculture season, 'Telangana required 9 lakh metric tons of urea, but the central government supplied 12 lakh metric tons. It was 3 lakh metric tons more than what the state of Telangana requested. The Centre is willing to provide the same or more during the current agriculture season.' However, he questioned where the additional urea that remained from the earlier agriculture season went and criticised the state for blaming the Centre without accounting for these discrepancies. 'The onus is on the state government to take appropriate action if there are any hurdles. The Centre is willing to consider Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao's requests favourably. The state must communicate the facts to the public.

KTR flays Congress over arrests of protesting youth

Hyderabad: Targeting the government on arrests of the students taking up 'Chalo Secretariat', the BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday said that arresting the unemployed who came to protest against the betrayal of Rahul Gandhi that he would create two lakh jobs in a year is the most evil act. The BRS leader asked CM A Revanth Reddy, who said that the doors of the Secretariat would always be open during 'Indiramma Rajyam', couldn't he see the hardships of the unemployed? Does Revanth, who called Rahul Gandhi at Ashok Nagar Cross Roads and had a tea party with the unemployed, not remember the job calendar after assuming office? While it is atrocious to arrest unemployed people from many districts across Telangana from coming to Hyderabad to sabotage the Chalo Secretariat program, it is appalling to arrest those who came to the Secretariat today to protest. KTR said that Revanth, who called Delhi leaders in the name of the Youth Declaration and deceived them, did not issue notifications of 10,000 jobs in a year and a half, which is a blow to the unemployed. The unemployed would never forgive the incompetent Chief Minister who gave appointment orders for 60,000 jobs that had completed the process during the BRS government. The Chief Minister who deceived students by assuring to fulfil all the promises made in the job calendar within a year was sure to face the wrath of the unemployed. The unemployed who have taken up the Chalo Secretariat program cannot be illegally arrested and their throats cannot be choked. They should be released unconditionally immediately and the Chief Minister should keep his word otherwise, the party would announce a BRS movement on behalf of the lakhs of unemployed in the state and bend the necks of the Revanth government.

Cong will win 100 MLA seats in next polls: CM Revanth

Hyderabad: Exuding confidence, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday assured the party high command that the Congress party in Telangana would win not less than 100 MLA and 15 MP seats in the next polls. Describing the party leadership from village level to top level as party's 'brand ambassadors', the CM said their heartbeat reflected the gusto of winning even in the next Assembly polls and confidence of sending at least 15 MPs from the state to form the Congress government at the Centre. Addressing the Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri meeting attended by village level party leaders and cadre at the LB Stadium, the CM promised AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, who was the chief guest at the meeting, that Telangana would contribute its part for the Congress to form the government at the Centre. 'These village presidents and mandal presidents have come from across Telangana, including from tribal areas. By reading their heartbeats, I promise on their behalf that we shall not only come to power in Telangana for the second time in a row with 100 MLAs but also send 15 MPs to Delhi. Take forward my message to Soniaji and Rahulji,' he said in Hindi, to cheers and applause from the crowd. The CM urged the partymen to counter the 'poisonous campaign' being spread by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) through social media. He said the intensity should be such that their 'social media fortress' should be shattered into pieces. He assured the partymen at different levels of 'doing justice', if they work hard in the upcoming local body polls. While pointing out the likelihood of delimitation of the Assembly constituencies, Revanth Reddy said that there would be opportunities for top performers to become MLAs as Telangana would get many additional MLA seats. He also highlighted the possibility of women reservation getting implemented by the next polls and assured to support women candidates and asked them to groom themselves to grab the chance. Over the issues of new recruitments in his government, the Chief Minister challenged the Opposition leaders for an open debate. 'I shall apologise by bowing to their feet if they prove that the government has failed to provide employment to 60,000 people. I will bring all of them to the LB Stadium and if the headcount is less than that figure, I am ready to bow to Kishan Reddy, KCR and KTR,' he affirmed, referring to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao and BRS working president KT Rama Rao.
