Gold Logie nominee Poh Ling Yeow reveals the 'worst' part about attending the exclusive award show: 'Really hard'
Poh Ling Yeow has opened up about the 'worst' part of attending TV's annual night-of-nights. The MasterChef star, 51, who is up for a Gold Logie this year, has said the exclusive awards show isn't always as glamorous as it seems, reported TV Tonight on Saturday. Despite bumping shoulders with some of Australia's biggest television stars, the celebrity cook said she struggles with wearing heels and doing red carpet interviews. The heels are the worst thing and I do find the red carpet really hard,' she said. 'Sometimes the questions are so random. Often they're quite young and they [refer to] trends and things, and I don't know what's going on.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after Poh revealed Gold Logie nominees are quietly told weeks in advance about their nomination, despite the fanfare of a live announcement. Appearing on The Project last month, the beloved culinary star said she was informed of her Gold Logie nomination in May and had to keep it a secret from everyone. 'Big Gold Logie nomination,' co-host Sarah Harris teased at the time, before asking how Poh found out. 'Ah, well, I got, I found out actually about three weeks ago,' she said. 'So I had to… mum's the word, and it was quite hard to keep it away from, you know, close friends and family. Uh, but I was really shocked.' Poh recalled being pulled aside after filming an episode of Have You Been Paying Attention? by a Network Ten publicist. 'I'd actually just done Have You Been Paying Attention? and a Channel Ten publicist pulled me aside and said, "Oh, just got a little bit of housekeeping to do,"' she said. 'I was kind of milling around with the comedians… and she's like, "Just hang out in the corridor for a bit." The MasterChef star who is up for a Gold Logie this year, has said the exclusive awards show isn't always as glamorous as it seems, reported TV Tonight on Saturday 'She sat me down in the boardroom and said, "So…" I thought she was going to leave or I thought it was about her because I love her. 'And she goes, "Ah, so yeah, you've been nominated for…" and I was just so bamboozled. I couldn't believe it. 'Yeah. I was speechless. I just… yeah. I'm still feeling a little bit odd about it.' When asked if it had sunk in, Poh replied: 'Can't… I can't. It's hard to process.' Her candid admission stunned fans as it's the first time a TV star has publicly revealed Logie nominees are privately informed weeks before the annual 'reveal' to the media. Poh joined the MasterChef judging panel in 2023 and quickly won over audiences with her warmth, humour and no-nonsense approach to food. The news comes just days after Daily Mail Australia revealed Poh has signed on to return for MasterChef 2026, putting an end to recent speculation she was preparing to bow out. A spokesperson for the popular chef flatly denied the claims, revealing: 'There's no truth to the speculation. Poh is loving her time on MasterChef and feels like she's found her place.' It followed a report by New Idea at the time which suggested Poh was considering leaving the series, prompting executives to quietly begin scouting a new judge to join Andy Allen, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli at the judging table. win the first season of MasterChef back in 2009.

Poh Ling Yeow drops Logies bombshell as she reveals little-known industry secret about the awards show - after being nominated for the top gong
MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow has blown the lid off one of the TV industry's best-kept secrets - revealing that Gold Logie nominees are quietly told weeks in advance, despite the fanfare of a live announcement. Appearing on The Project on Monday night, the beloved culinary star, 51, revealed she was informed of her Gold Logie nomination three weeks ago – and had to keep it a secret from everyone, including her closest friends and family. Lisa Millar and Poh Ling Yeow among nominees for Gold Logie award
Former ABC News Breakfast host Lisa Millar and chef and presenter Poh Ling Yeow are among this year's nominees for the 65th Gold Logie, announced on Monday. Comedians Hamish Blake and Julia Morris, A Current Affair host Ally Langdon, and presenter Sonia Kruger will also vie for the title of most popular personality on Australian television, along with the longest-serving female actor in an Australian soap, Lynne McGranger, who recently announced her retirement from Home and Away after more than 32 years. Still administered by TV Week magazine, the Logies have historically been an unusual awards event, with a mix of popularly voted awards – which celebrities have always actively campaigned to win – and peer-voted awards. That system was overhauled last year and now the awards in the 'best' categories (formerly called 'most outstanding') are determined by a combined score, 50% of which is peer assessment and audience data supplied by the broadcasters and 50% is by public vote. The Gold Logie, Bert Newton, Graham Kennedy and Ray Martin awards remain solely determined by popular vote. Guy Montgomery, the host of Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee on the ABC, is nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent, alongside Hailey Pinto for Home and Away, Jenny Tian for Taskmaster Australia, Kate Miller-Heidke for The Voice, Kylah Day for Territory, and Sofia Levin for MasterChef Australia. Blake, Morris and Kruger are also nominees in the Bert Newton award for most popular presenter, along with Australian Idol's Ricki-Lee, the ABC's Zan Rowe and one half of former Woodies tennis powerhouse duo Todd Woodbridge, for his coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Australian Open. Langdon is joined by ABC journalists David Speers (Insiders) and Sarah Ferguson (7.30), Michael Usher (7News), Peter Overton (9News) and 60 minutes report Tara Brown, for her 60 Minutes reporting on Belle Gibson, as nominees for the Ray Martin award for most popular news or public affairs presenter. The Netflix series Territory dominates the Silver Logies category for best actor and actress in a drama, with Anna Torv, Michael Dorman, Robert Taylor and Sam Corlett all in the running. Kaitlyn Dever and Alycia Debnam-Carey are Silver Logie nominees for another Netflix series, Apple Cider Vinegar, which also draws inspiration from the Belle Gibson scandal. Apple Cider Vinegar is in the running for best miniseries or telemovie, along with Stan's Critical Incident, Paramount+'s Fake, Binge/Foxtel's How to Make Gravy, Nine's Human Error and the ABC's Plum. Streaming platforms also dominate the best drama category with the ABC's Return to Paradise and The Newsreader the only free-to-air nominees. The network that hosts the Logies, Seven, dominates the best news coverage category, with its reports on Cyclone Alfred, Melbourne protests and the assassination attempt on Donald Trump all nominees, along with the ABC's coverage of scandals in the childcare sector, Nines' Courage & Science report and its 2024 Gold Walkley winning expose on the CFMEU, Building Bad. Voting for nominees opened at 9am on Monday and will continue until 7pm on 1 August. The winners will be announced in Sydney on 3 August.

All the 2025 Logie Awards nominations revealed
It's a stacked, nearly all-female list of celebs competing to win the Gold Logie this year, with former winner Hamish Blake the only male in contention for the night's top TV prize. TV presenters All Langdon, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Sonia Kruger and Poh Ling Yeow plus veteran Home and Away star Lynne McGranger are competing alongside Blake in the top category. It makes a noticeable change for the Gold Logie nomination, which is usually fairly evenly split between male and female TV stars. Organisers could be hoping stacking the category with women might up the odds of a female winner, after only three winners in the past 15 years have been women (Kruger in 2023, Carrie Bickmore in 2015 and Asher Keddie in 2013). And as you'll see in the video at the top of this story, there were awkward scenes at a Logies event held in Sydney this morning, with Andrew Bucklow in attendance to watch it all unfold. Presenter Tara Rushton announced this year's Gold nominees – but forgot Kruger, who was waiting in the wings to be called to the stage. Rushton had individually invited each nominee to join her on stage, bar McGranger, who she explained couldn't be there. But there was a visible ripple of panic among the other nominees when Rushton asked the assembled press to 'put your hands together for all your Gold Logie nominees' – with Kruger still left awkwardly offstage, waiting to be announced. 'Oh, hold on – Sonia Kruger! I am never going to live this down,' said Rushton, as Kruger finally made her entrance. 'I'm so sorry, Sonee,' Rushton continued. 'That's me done.' Elsewhere at the event, cornered Hamish Blake to ask the obvious question: What will happen if this year's sole male Gold Logie nominee ends up winning the award? Blake, who previously won the award in 2022, admitted he was praying that wouldn't be the case. He told in the video below that it felt like a 'mild stitch-up' to be nominated. 'I'm just going to put it on record: never should someone win it less than I should win it this year. I think in this climate, in this day in age, the only guy getting up to win is the last thing anyone wants to see,' he said. 'I'm very happy to be nominated, a wonderful bunch of ladies I'm with … my god, it would be just a disaster if I won it.' The ultimate winner of the Gold Logie will be determined by public vote and announced at a ceremony held at The Star Sydney on Sunday August 3, broadcast live on Seven. Voting is now open for all awards and will remain open until 7pm AEST Friday 1 August 2025, except for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter, Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent and the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter which will close 7:30pm AEST Sunday 3 August. Gold Logie votes will stay open until 10:30pm on Logies night. Why Maggie Smith and Joan Plowright weren't in Bafta TV Awards tribute as fans blast 'shameful' omission
Actors who are best known for television are usually honoured at the TV Awards, while stars who are more aligned with film are celebrated at the Film Awards.
