ITV This Morning's Ben Shephard dealt huge blow as new series 'delayed'

It seems as though there's bad news for This Morning star Ben Shephard, as his new ITV series has reportedly been delayed. It appears there's disappointing news for This Morning's Ben Shephard as his latest series has allegedly been delayed. ‌ The reality show, called The Summit, will feature 14 strangers battling to claim a portion of £200,000 whilst scaling a mountain in New Zealand. ‌ Ben temporarily stepped away from his presenting duties on This Morning towards the end of last year during filming, appearing via live video connection to clarify his whereabouts. ‌ Whilst The Summit was initially scheduled to broadcast in 2025, it appears the premiere has now been postponed until 2026. Reports suggest the delay stems from scheduling clashes, TVZone claims. Daily Record has approached ITV for a statement. Previously expressing his enthusiasm for the programme, Ben remarked: "This series really has got it all; the contestants are going to be tested in every possible way as they try and take on the mountain. "They'll need a serious amount of grit, determination and strategy if they want to reach The Summit. Most people know how much I love exercise and adventure, but this is taking it to another level. ‌ "I'll be donning my mountain gear to check in with them as they battle up the mountain and do their best to combat the demands of the ominous Mountain's Keeper. I can't wait to see how they get on because anyone who reaches The Summit will have seriously earned every penny of the prize fund." ITV's Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions, Paul Mortimer, has hinted that the upcoming show The Summit will have audiences on the edge of their seats with its 'nail-biting' content, reports the Mirror. ‌ He remarked: "Not only is this a huge and complex endurance test for the contestants, overseen by the wonderful Ben Shephard, it's going to be an absolute nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat watch for viewers at home. "Filled with cliffhangers, shocks, twists and turns, it's going to keep people guessing from the very first step of the trek to that final summit." ‌ Ben Shephard is expected to take a hiatus from television screens in the coming weeks as he takes a summer break from his duties on This Morning. Both Ben and his co-host Cat are expected to make their return in September, with a host of celebrities stepping in during their absence. This Morning has revealed that during this period, viewers can look forward to seeing Emma Willis, Rylan Clark, Sian Welby, Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle and Olivia Attwood taking on presenting roles. The Summit will air on ITV1 and ITVX.

"How does that make any sense? 'These cuts are a disaster in the making. The way they have gone about all of this is messy and it is devastating for us all. 'Why are they trying to reinvent the 'news' instead of finding better ways to reach audiences? It is a shame they are being so shortsighted and are losing genuine, good quality people.
