Osher Günsberg reveals the REAL reason why Channel 10 decided to fire Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia

Osher Günsberg has weighed in on the axing of Jonathan LaPaglia from Australian Survivor. The TV personality, who hosted The Masked Singer and The Bachelor before they were cancelled last year, defended Channel 10's decision to sack the popular star, saying it was just 'show business'. 'In a time when no one's greenlighting anything really, the only things that are going… are the shows that are going again,' the 51-year-old told Chattr on Tuesday. He added that networks are doing everything they can do to keep their formats fresh, the decision to axe Jonathan, according to Osher, was one that was made to keep people watching at home. 'If that's what they need to do to keep [Australian Survivor] healthy, then you know, it's show business, not show friends.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Osher went on to say that, as someone who enjoyed his stint as a television host, he understood this better than most. 'So there's the business case, and it will always be the reason you make a choice like that,' he said. In June, Jonathan confirmed he had been axed as host of Australian Survivor after a decade in the role. The 55-year-old, who has fronted the hit show since 2016, will make his final appearance on the upcoming season, Australia V The World, set to air later this year. In a lengthy Instagram post, Jonathan said he was shocked by Channel Ten's decision to let him go. He also revealed the brutal way the network delivered the news - via telephone. 'Australian Survivor has seen some of the most epic blindsides over the last 10 years, but this one might just be the craziest of them all… because it happened to me,' he began on Instagram. 'I received a call from the Network thanking me for all my hard work and dedication to the show but for next season they are "going in a different direction,"' he explained. 'Ratings had dipped a bit recently and they wanted to do something drastic to shake things up. So for the first time ever this is not a tribe swap, but a host swap. Yes, you read that right. 'I wish I could say, "Before we go to vote, tonight is a little different… no one's going home". But I can't. None of that non-elim bulls**t tonight! Someone IS going home. And with no idol in my back pocket, that someone is me.' 'I have loved and will dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players and our loyal sassy audience. I'm a huge fan of this incredible game, always have been, always will be.' 'It has been one of the greatest adventures of my career to helm Australian Survivor, so it is without a doubt the hardest challenge of all to snuff my own torch, but here goes: "JLP… the tribe has spoken."' The comments section of the post was inundated with love for the longtime TV host, as well as hate towards Channel Ten and their decision to sack the beloved star. 'Boo @channel10au, what're you thinking? JLP is the show,' one person wrote. Another added: 'WTAF! Huge mistake by Channel 10. We love you JLP. So sad to see you go!!' 'Getting rid of JLP will surely kill the show rather than bring in new viewers,' one fan penned, adding: 'Do better Channel 10. You clearly have no idea about your audience if you think this is the answer.'

Maya Jama puts on a VERY saucy display while keeping cool in a skimpy mini dress amid Love Island filming - after sparking fears she may bid farewell to the ITV show

Maya Jama put on a saucy display as she kept cool in the back of a car while filming Love Island in Mallorca on Tuesday. Despite being scantily clad in a stunning red and gold mini dress the TV host, 30, still required a fan which was blown between her legs. Cheeky Maya grunted in relief as she sat with her legs open, before giggling with the crew that she sounded like a woman giving birth. The stunner looked incredible in the eye-popping outfit which boasted a racy key hole detail and hugged every inch of her sensational figure. Taking to her Instagram Stories Maya captioned the clip: 'Don't crease the dress'. It comes amid fears that the TV personality could ready to say farewell to the ITV dating show as her career reaches new heights elsewhere. She got the biggest gig of her career to date when she was announced as the new presenter of Love Island in October 2022. Maya took over from Laura Whitmore, who presented for three seasons, and has been fronting the ITV2 show ever since. But her career has only been going from strength to strength in the years since with a booming beauty business and a rumoured role in a Netflix show. The Bristol native has also moved on from her ex-boyfriend Stormzy and is now being romanced by Manchester City player Ruben Dias. As her star continues to rise, it must be a concern for ITV bosses that Maya may decide to pack in the day job and quit Love Island. The current series of the show saw its lowest launch viewing figures since 2016 with just 1.4million tuning in. Meanwhile, Maya has no shortage of offers for other projects to keep herself busy. Although she is known as a TV presenter, Maya's first career goal was to become an actress. She auditioned for roles in her teens and even made it to the final round for a part in E4 teen drama Skins. When she didn't get the part, she focused on presenting instead but it appears her acting ambitions have recently been reignited. The star has reportedly 'landed a sizzling new role' in the second series of Guy Ritchie's gangster drama The Gentlemen. She will reportedly play the glamorous wife of a shady associate linked to Theo James' lead character Eddie Horniman. Filming is already underway at the stunning Badminton House in Gloucestershire - a grand estate that doubles as the fictional Halstead Manor in the series. A source told The Sun: 'Maya is over the moon to land a role in such a massive show with Guy Ritchie at the helm. 'The Gentlemen was one of 2024's biggest series and it's such a glossy, sexy show. It's a perfect fit.' Maya teased fans earlier this year when she posted a Netflix script on social media , followed by a cryptic photo alongside The Gentlemen star Kaya Scodelario, who plays mob boss Susie Glass in the series. Back in January, the BBC Three Glow Up presenter revealed she had been auditioning behind the scenes for a 'dream role' and hinted she wanted to play something completely different from her bubbly TV persona. She said: 'My dream role, I would want to be like a villain or something that's completely not like me, so then it shows that I can actually act. 'And then people would be like, wow, two different people.' Meanwhile, Maya's beauty business MIJ Mask has been going from strength to strength. Companies House documents show that MIJ Masks now has net assets of £313,381, up by £75,000 from 2023. With sales rising, the eye-watering fortune adds up to her assets of £1.83million from her TV work and advertising work through MIJ & Co Entertainment. Maya launched the bio-cellulose face mask and eye patches brand in 2021, delivering high-performance, skin-loving treatments that combine luxury ingredients with bold self-care for a radiant, confident glow. The brand's masks range from £9.99 to £17.99, while the eye patches cost £7.99. Maya is thought to earn £750,000 per series of Love Island while she also reportedly banked upward of £50,000 for co-hosting this year's BRIT Awards.

With the current season due to end next month, Maya — who has an estimated worth of £1.5million — will have to decide whether to bid farewell to the island for a final time. This week, Maya and Ruben were spotted kissing at a luxury beach club in Ibiza. She has been spending time there with the Manchester City defender in between filming for Love Island in Majorca. But a source said: 'It's still early days regarding next year's host. Talks haven't begun yet as to whether Maya will return for the next series. Power couple 'ITV bosses love Maya and she has been an amazing asset to Love Island. She is hot property in TV at the moment, so it will be a case of her weighing up the opportunities.' It comes as The Sun revealed that Maya has won the part of a gangster's wife in Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix series The Gentlemen, which she described as her 'dream role'. Meanwhile, Maya is also being eyed to front a in what is tipped to be a megabucks deal. She has held talks with the streaming giant to present a programme with a 'family connections' format. A source said: 'Amazon's streamer has made strong moves into reality with Clarkson's Farm and Molly-Mae's series, but hasn't explored shiny-floor entertainment programming. Maya would be part of that.' Maya Jama QUITS Love Island Games as she's replaced by Vanderpump Rules star Since rising to fame, Maya has been a Vogue cover star, replaced Kate Moss as the face of beauty giant Rimmel London and was snapped up by Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana — all in 2023. It's a world away from her leaving home at 16 to pursue her dream of presenting in London. She recalled: 'I was broke, pretending I'd lost my Oyster public transport card every day so I could get to work. Hustling my little way around London, having £1 chicken shop meals every day. I know what makes me happy and I know what I like. Maya Jama 'But I was happy. I was working and I was living in London, I felt like I was getting somewhere. "I'd work as much as I could.' She held down part-time jobs at two clothes shops and worked as a runner for production firm Jump Off TV. But times were tough as she survived with no basic facilities while bunking at a relative's house — meaning she couldn't even shower. 5 She said on video series Now You Know with Julie Adenuga: 'I was working at Urban Outfitters and Lipsy in Westfield at the same time. "During those times, when I was living at my family member's house, it wasn't a very nice environment. No gas, no electricity, and washing at Urban Outfitters in their sinks. 'We didn't have gas sometimes, so it would either be a kettle job or I would just go to the toilet and flannel it up. I was in the trenches for a bit.' Away from her life as a telly star, Maya confirmed that she was dating Portugal star Ruben, 28, in May. Not afraid to walk away She caught the footballer's eye in November at the MTV European Music Awards in Manchester, four months after her split from rapper Stormzy. The lovebirds were spotted for the first time in public on New Year's Eve in Ibiza. Fast-forward seven months and the pair have become the latest power couple — posting adoring snaps on Instagram to their combined 7.5million followers. Last year, she and Stormzy called it quits ten years after they first started dating. In between their on-off relationship, Maya had a whirlwind engagement to basketball player Ben Simmons. The pair split in August 2022. Maya previously revealed that she is not afraid to walk away from a relationship if it does not feel right, saying: 'I know what makes me happy and I know what I like.' On Now You Know, which aired in April on My5 and YouTube, she added: 'I have curated this lovely little life for myself and my friends.'
