DMK providing aid for women, but earning back six-fold through Tasmac: BJP leader Tamilisai

COIMBATORE:There will be no rift in the AIADMK-BJP alliance, and the party leaders will decide on the coalition government, said senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday. Addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport, she said that though several issues remain unaddressed in the state, Chief Minister MK Stalin has instructed his cadres to focus on increasing party membership. Speaking about the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai, wherein Rs 1,000 is provided to women, Tamilisai said, 'The government is providing this amount, but is profiting six-fold by operating Tasmac and exploiting the public. The AIADMK has assured that they will give Rs 1,500 to each woman, and the BJP has a plan to guide women on how to save this money. Since we are allied with AIADMK, we will work to control the operation of Tasmac." The governments in BJP-ruled states are working to eliminate liquor shops in a practical manner, she said, adding that any party wishing to join the NDA will be considered a big party. Further, Tamilisai said Stalin ordered the resignation of five zonal chairpersons of the Madurai Corporation following allegations of a scam, which she believes is due to the 2026 Assembly election. Tamilisai also called on the DMK and its ally Congress to respond to the remarks made by DMK MP Tiruchy Siva about former chief minister Kamaraj, saying that such comments tarnish the reputation of the great leader.

NDA will ensure good governance in Tamil Nadu: Tamilisai

Tamilisai Soundararajan COIMBATORE: The National Democratic Alliance ensures good governance in other states, and the same will happen in Tamil Nadu, former BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Friday. Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport, Tamilisai reiterated that any party joining the NDA is a grand party. When asked about talks of a coalition govt in the state, she said BJP leaders in Delhi would handle those matters and that she would not comment on it. She denied any rift between the AIADMK and the BJP. Tamilisai alleged that kidney trafficking was happening in the state, with irregularities reported in Namakkal where organs were transplanted in foreigners in violation of regulations. She alleged that the transplants were conducted in a hospital run by a DMK functionary, bypassing legal procedures. 'As per available information, if a man regularly consumes alcohol from Tasmac outlets, he will spend at least Rs 6,000 a month. The govt is giving Rs 1,000 to women but taking Rs 6,000 from the same household through alcohol sales,' she said. She said when chief minister M K Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi were in the opposition, they protested against Tasmac by holding black flag demonstrations in front of their residences and promised to shut down liquor shops once in power. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 'But that never happened. When asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami's promise to give Rs 1,500 to women if voted to power, she said he would control Tasmac outlets and that the BJP would support him. 'We have a plan to ensure that the Rs 1,500 doesn't go towards alcohol purchases. We will reveal the plan if we come to power. We are part of the alliance, and good governance will follow,' she said.

TVK may join hands with BJP: Tamilisai

Chennai: Former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay has not yet ruled out an alliance with BJP and exuded confidence about a possibility of TVK joining NDA. Addressing reporters here on Sunday afyer inaugurating water and buttermilk pandals, Tamilisai appealed for like minded parties to join hands to defeat DMK . "Vijay is the president of the party and he has not officially announced that TVK will not align with the BJP. I cannot respond to the remarks of others,'' she said when asked about a TVK deputy general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar's statement that the fledgling party will not ally with BJP. Vijay has declared that BJP was the 'ideological enemy' of TVK. However, he was yet to announce TVK's alliance strategy for 2026 assembly election . "My request is that parties who have the common agenda of defeating the DMK in the 2026 election should join hands," Tamilisai said. Coming down hard at the book written by school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi against National Education Policy (NEP), Tamilisai said she was deeply hurt by the book. "They (DMK) think that people of Tamil Nadu should act according to DMK's whims and fancies. They are portraying that as if all the states have failed due to implementation of NEP. But I am saying that TN has failed in the education department," she charged.

‘A wrong perception is being spread in Tamil Nadu about NEP,' alleges Tamilisai Soundararajan

Former Telangana Governor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday (May 18, 2025) alleged a misleading narrative is being propagated in Tamil Nadu regarding the New National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. Addressing the media in Chennai, Dr. Tamilisai criticised the release of the book 'National Education Policy, 2020 – A Rogue Elephant', authored by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and unveiled by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (May 17, 2025.) 'A wrong perception is being spread about the NEP, 2020. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) only claims to develop Tamil language. However only eight students, out of nearly eight lakh who appeared for Class X examinations, had secured a centum in Tamil language. They [DMK leaders] were talking about the vacancies of Tamil teachers in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools. However, as the post of a Tamil teacher remained vacant in a government school at Madurai, students failed to clear that subject,' she said. 'The DMK leaders have been talking about bringing back 'Education' from the Concurrent List to the State List. But, what steps did the DMK take when it was part of the ruling coalition at the Centre for nearly 18 years?' she questioned. Responding to a question about Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) deputy general secretary C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar's recent statement that his party would not form an alliance with the BJP, Dr. Tamilisai said, 'Vijay is the president of the TVK and he has not made any official announcement to that effect.' Further she said there is a pressing need for parties opposed to the DMK to come together.
