DMK providing aid for women, but earning back six-fold through Tasmac: BJP leader Tamilisai
COIMBATORE:There will be no rift in the AIADMK-BJP alliance, and the party leaders will decide on the coalition government, said senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday. Addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport, she said that though several issues remain unaddressed in the state, Chief Minister MK Stalin has instructed his cadres to focus on increasing party membership. Speaking about the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai, wherein Rs 1,000 is provided to women, Tamilisai said, 'The government is providing this amount, but is profiting six-fold by operating Tasmac and exploiting the public. The AIADMK has assured that they will give Rs 1,500 to each woman, and the BJP has a plan to guide women on how to save this money. Since we are allied with AIADMK, we will work to control the operation of Tasmac." The governments in BJP-ruled states are working to eliminate liquor shops in a practical manner, she said, adding that any party wishing to join the NDA will be considered a big party. Further, Tamilisai said Stalin ordered the resignation of five zonal chairpersons of the Madurai Corporation following allegations of a scam, which she believes is due to the 2026 Assembly election. Tamilisai also called on the DMK and its ally Congress to respond to the remarks made by DMK MP Tiruchy Siva about former chief minister Kamaraj, saying that such comments tarnish the reputation of the great leader.

NDA will ensure good governance in Tamil Nadu: Tamilisai
Tamilisai Soundararajan COIMBATORE: The National Democratic Alliance ensures good governance in other states, and the same will happen in Tamil Nadu, former BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Friday. Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport, Tamilisai reiterated that any party joining the NDA is a grand party. When asked about talks of a coalition govt in the state, she said BJP leaders in Delhi would handle those matters and that she would not comment on it. She denied any rift between the AIADMK and the BJP. Tamilisai alleged that kidney trafficking was happening in the state, with irregularities reported in Namakkal where organs were transplanted in foreigners in violation of regulations. She alleged that the transplants were conducted in a hospital run by a DMK functionary, bypassing legal procedures. 'As per available information, if a man regularly consumes alcohol from Tasmac outlets, he will spend at least Rs 6,000 a month. The govt is giving Rs 1,000 to women but taking Rs 6,000 from the same household through alcohol sales,' she said. She said when chief minister M K Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi were in the opposition, they protested against Tasmac by holding black flag demonstrations in front of their residences and promised to shut down liquor shops once in power. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 'But that never happened. BJP leaders' greetings spark alliance buzz on Vijay's birthday as TVK celebrates across Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Actor-turned-politician and Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay turned 51 on Sunday. Birthday greetings from several political leaders, particularly from the BJP, triggered speculation on social media about possible attempts to woo the fledgling party into the NDA fold ahead of the 2026 Assembly election. Though she stopped short of an open invitation, former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, in a creatively worded greeting using titles of Vijay's films, said the actor should align with those opposing 'evil forces'. BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran, former party state president K Annamalai, and BJP women's wing president Vanathi Srinivasan were among those who extended greetings. From the DMK-led alliance, TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai also wished Vijay. PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss conveyed his wishes as well. In Chennai, TVK general secretary Bussy N Anand and deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjuna led the celebrations. Anand alleged that police imposed restrictions on party cadres distributing food and aid to the public. Meanwhile, in Ulundurpet, a clash broke out between cadres of the DMK and VCK over the birthday celebrations.

DMK meet should have thanked our armed forces, says Tamilisai
Coimbatore: BJP leader and former governor of Telangana and Puducherry Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed dissatisfaction over the DMK general council's failure to pass a resolution thanking the Indian armed forces for conducting Operation Sindoor . Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport on Sunday, she said, "Our armed forces risked their lives to carry out Operation Sindoor. A resolution could have been passed to express gratitude to them." She pointed out that even though DMK MP Kanimozhi received international attention for speaking about Operation Sindoor, the party did not acknowledge the armed forces in its resolutions. "If Kanimozhi is being recognised for highlighting the operation on global platforms, then a resolution thanking the forces should certainly have been passed," she said. Tamilisai urged political parties not to politicise matters of national security, stating that "everything else is already being politicised." She also criticised the DMK's resolution condemning the railway department for allegedly neglecting Tamil Nadu. She countered that Tamil Nadu received the highest number of Vande Bharat trains in the country. Accusing the DMK of being more focused on criticism than progress, she said the general council meeting seemed to have been convened mainly for the sake of issuing condemnations. "It would have been better if resolutions were passed for the development of Tamil Nadu," she said. Referring to actor and MNM leader Kamal Haasan, she remarked that although he started his political party in opposition to the DMK, he is now aligned with them. She called this an act of opportunism.

"Should not hurt sentiments of others...": BJP's Tamilisai Soundararajan on Kamal Haasan language row
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], May 31 (ANI): BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday responded to actor Kamal Haasan's recent remark on the Kannada language and said that while celebrating one's linguistic heritage, it is essential not to disregard or offend other languages. Speaking to reporters, Soundararajan said, 'Tamil is an ancient language, and you will always see Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating this... Whenever you express the richness of your language, you should not hurt the sentiments of others. When you express the richness of your language, you should also think about other languages.' 'Why didn't Kamal Haasan mention this previously when he was acting in Kannada, Telugu and Hindi movies? Why now does he want to disrupt the brotherhood of other states?' she remarked. Kamal Haasan and his movie 'Thug Life' were caught in a controversy in Karnataka after the actor reportedly stated that 'Kannada is born out of Tamil' during a promotional event in Chennai. It led to several protests in Karanataka by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and other Kannada organisations. Actor Kamal Haasan reiterated his faith in 'law and democracy' on Friday, responding to the ongoing controversy surrounding his purported remark on the Kannada language while promoting his movie 'Thug Life' in Chennai. Terming India a 'democratic country,' the actor stated that he won't 'apologise' to anyone for his actions if he is 'not wrong'. Pro-Kannada organisations have demanded a public apology from him for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Kannada people. Responding to the warning by pro-Kannada groups that they would boycott his film if he did not apologise for his remarks, the actor said that he believes in 'law' and 'justice' since India is a 'democratic' country. On Friday, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) banned the release of 'Thug Life' over the actor's purported remarks on the Kannada language. Speaking to mediapersons in Bengaluru, Sa Ra Govindu, representative of KFCC, said that they have decided to ban the release of Kamal Haasan starrer 'Thug Life' in Karnataka as they stand firmly with Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and other Kannada organisations for their demands of halting the release of the film until the actor issues a pubic apology. The KFCC representative said that Kamal Haasan has not yet issued an apology for hurting the sentiments of the Kannada people during his promotional event in Chennai. On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised Kamal Haasan for his reported remark about the Kannada language, stating that he was not aware of the language's 'long-standing' history. 'Kannada has a long-standing history. Poor Kamal Haasan, he is unaware of it,' the Karnataka Chief Minister said. 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, also stars Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan TR in lead roles. (ANI)
