Two bikers snatch BTech student's mobile
Bhopal: In a late-night snatching incident reported near a petrol pump close to Apex Trisection in TT Nagar, unidentified bike-borne miscreants allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a BTech student of MANIT on Wednesday around 11:30 PM. Police said that the complainant, Tanmay, a native of Indore, is currently residing in the hostel of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) and pursuing BTech. Tanmay and a friend were returning to the hostel on a scooter after visiting Platinum Plaza. While he was near the petrol pump and talking to a friend on his phone, two men on a motorcycle approached. The pillion rider snatched the phone and sped away. The stolen phone is reportedly worth Rs25,000.

19-year-old gets life imprisonment till last breath for gangrape of minor
Surat: A 19-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment till last breath for the gangrape of a 15-year-old girl by a special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Dharampur of Valsad. The convict and and a 15-year-old boy had raped the minor in the bathroom of a school . The cases against the minor accused are being heard by the Juvenile Justice Board. Special POCSO court Judge M A Mirza found him guilty of gangrape, wrongful restraint, kdnapping, and POCSO Act sections of penetrative sexual assault, gang penetrative sexual assault on a child), aggravated penetrative sexual assault and others. On Aug 24 last year, the accused and his friend kidnapped the minor on a motorcycle when she was returning from a grocery shop near her home in a village of Dharampur taluka. They took her to a nearby Ashram Shala school building and raped her in the bathroom. The school was closed due to a holiday. Meanwhile, a boy from the village came to the survivor's home and informed her father about kidnapping. The father went in that direction and found the two boys coming out of the school and running towards a hill. The minor was found in the bathroom with severe injuries. Her parents found a motorcycle and a mobile phone of the accused at the spot. The two were arrested after a few days. The court ordered Rs 6 lakh compensation to the survivor under the Gujarat Victim Compensation Scheme. At the same time, the ordered action against the medical officer of Valsad GMERS hospital, Dr Tanmay Patel, who submitted in court that the bleeding from the private part of the survivor was due to the menstrual cycle. "The court questioned Dr Patel to explain the characteristics of menstrual blood if the bleeding of the survivor matched. The survivor was not wearing a sanitary pad as well," said Anil Tripathi, district government pleader, Valsad. "It transpires from the records that Dr Tanmay was negligent in performing his duty. Despite the survivor describing the history of the crime to him, he claimed the bleeding from the private part of the minor was of the menstrual cycle without any verification or investigation using scientific methods. It is found to be opposite to the other evidence of the medical officer," the court observed. The Supreme Court and the law have mentioned the required sensitivity and diligence in such cases from medical officers. Despite that, Dr Tanmay submitted opposite evidence to the facts of the crime in the court. "The court takes serious note of the behaviour of Dr Tanmay Patel. The court directs that he should be given training, actions should be taken against him, and his clarification should be asked so that such a thing is not repeated, the court stated in the order.

Student's suicide in Rourkela takes new turn as dad accuses school of torture
ROURKELA: The suicidal death of a Class X student of a reputed English medium school here has taken a new turn with his family members accusing the school administration of harassing and mentally torturing the teenager, leading him to take the extreme step. After returning from school on June 4, Tanmay Mahawar (15) had hanged himself to death from the ceiling fan at his residence in Daily Market area within Plant Site police limits. Attributing his son's death to the harassment by the school principal and others over an old issue, Tanmay's father Pappu Mahawar on Friday evening filed a complaint in the local police station. Pappu said the school administration had lodged a complaint against his son with Sector-19 police. He was summoned by police on May 2 and informed that Tanmay in January had uploaded a cartoon reel (video) of the principal and teachers on Instagram. Tanmay was counselled by police and he as a parent tendered a written apology following which the issue was settled amicably in presence of the school principal. The aggrieved father said the school reopened on June 2 and everything went fine for two days. On June 4, Tanmay returned from school stressed and a few hours later, he died by suicide in his room. 'Before going to his room, Tanmay told me that the principal had asked him to bring his father to the school the next day. Despite all persuasion, my son did not disclose what went wrong in the school. It was his last conversation,' said Pappu. Elder brother Rahul said in a social media chat, Tanmay had told one of his friends that he was stressed due to the school administration's attitude towards him and he feared he might be expelled.

Student secures centum in SSLC examination after re-evaluation
A student of Ramakrishna Vidyashala in Mysuru, who had applied for re-evaluation on securing 622 out of 625 marks in the SSLC examinations, has scored a centum. M.N. Tanmay is the son of M.A. Niranjan, who is the president of the Bar Council of Madikeri, and Soumya. Mr. Niranjan said that his son, Tanmay, was confident of scoring 625 out of 625 and applied for re-evaluation as he secured three marks less than expected when the results were announced. 'On examining the answer scripts, we discovered errors in awarding of marks and hence applied for re-evaluation,' said Mr. Niranjan. Tanmay has opted for a course in commerce after which he plans to appear for the Common Law Admission Test to take up law and also prepare for civil services examination.
