Will help strengthen Tejashwi in Bihar assembly polls: Akhilesh

: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said his party would help strengthen Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav in the Bihar assembly polls that are due later this year. SP national president Akhilesh Yadav (ANI) 'We will help strengthen Tejashwi Yadav and will be seen standing with RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav,' former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said to media persons after celebrating Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj's birth anniversary at SP headquarters here on Thursday. Yadav said his party has resolved to follow the path shown by Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Dr BR Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav confirmed that he spoke to Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav, who has been expelled from the RJD and the family, via video call but was not aware that this would turn out to be so important. Akhilesh Yadav said Tej Pratap Yadav had called him twice and he (Akhilesh) called back via video call. Akhilesh Yadav, during the video call, asked Tej Pratap Yadav from where the latter proposes to contest elections . 'This is what politicians ask each other,' Akhilesh Yadav said. In a video circulated on social media, Tej Pratap Yadav is seen telling Akhilesh Yadav that he will take a decision about this after meeting the SP chief in Lucknow. Akhilesh Yadav further said the BJP would lose the Bihar elections. The people of Bihar have realised the game plan of the BJP, which changed the chief minister after the Maharashtra elections, he added. He accused the BJP of violating constitutional provisions whenever it came to power. Asserting that those opposing socialism were opposed to secularism too, he said the PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) symbolised positive politics and the BJP, with a negative mindset, could not accept the same. About the Etawah incident where a religious storyteller's head was allegedly tonsured by a group of upper caste men, Yadav, in a lighter vein, said US President Donald Trump would be surprised to know about the same. Asked about the ban on meat shops during the Kanwar Yatra, he said the BJP leaders do not practise what they preach. Terming the BJP as Bharatiya Jamin Party, he alleged it was grabbing the land of others.

"People Target Me Because They Know I Am Next Lalu Yadav": Tej Pratap To NDTV

Expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal for six years, with the announcement coming from none other than his father, Tej Pratap Yadav has claimed people are conspiring against him because they know that he is the next Lalu Yadav. In an exclusive interview with NDTV on Thursday, Lalu Yadav's eldest son also said, cryptically, that while he would like his brother Tejashwi Yadav to become the chief minister of Bihar after the elections later this year, he wants to play the role of kingmaker. Tej Pratap Yadav - who married Aishwarya Rai, the daughter of a former Bihar minister in 2018 - was expelled from the RJD last month after he posted a photo on X and wrote that the woman he was with was Anushka Yadav and that they had been in a relationship for 12 years. Even though Tej Pratap Yadav deleted the post and claimed his account had been hacked, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav announced that he was distancing his son from the family and expelling him from the party for six years because of his "irresponsible behaviour" and "disregard for ethical values". Asked how he had taken the news, Tej Pratap Yadav, a former Bihar minister, said he felt bad and indicated he had been expelled because someone was conspiring against him. "Of course, I felt bad. If you expel a party member or an employee you have hired because someone swayed your opinion... it feels bad," Tej Pratap said in Hindi. To a question on whether he felt worse because it was his father who expelled him, the Hasanpur MLA said his parents, Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, are like gods to him, and he has the utmost respect for them. "My mother is always worried about me. As their first son, I know they keep me in their heart... I don't want to go into details of what the situation was or wasn't because that is completely political," he said. "My younger brother, Tejashwi, has my blessings and complete support for becoming the chief minister... there are no issues there," he stressed. Tejashwi-Tej Ties Asked to elaborate on the relationship with Tejashwi, Tej Pratap said there is some turmoil ('uthal puthal') but he is trying to handle the situation. "I have no interest in there being a breakdown in the relationship. I don't want to ruin ties... with anyone. I always try to maintain relationships... When you are the elder brother, you have to fulfil an elder brother's responsibilities," he said. 'Selective Targeting' To a question on whether he felt the controversy around him has dented the RJD's image, Tej Pratap wondered whether only his actions did that. "There are many other people as well. Why am I being specially targeted? I am not going to talk about my family - my brothers, sisters or parents. The other people who keep targeting me do so because they know that I am the next Lalu Yadav, because I have the same kind of voice, the same pure, raw mannerisms, the same grounded nature. Several people have said this," he claimed. "Tejashwi should become the chief minister, he has my full support. I want to play the role of kingmaker. Some don't like that I have my ear to the ground, that I raise issues that matter to the people without being afraid of anyone. This is what my father used to do, and that is what I, his son, should do as well. People in villages like people who are grounded," he said. Message To Supporters On whether he was despondent because of his troubles with the party and his family, Tej Pratap said he was not, and urged his supporters not to feel anxious either. The MLA said he will visit his constituency, Hasanpur, in the run-up to the elections and also hold 'janata durbars' (public meetings) to address any issues that people may have. "I am out of the party for six years, but that doesn't mean I should stay at home. A person should do the work he is meant to do. And I will do so," he emphasised.

Tej Pratap clears interview for commercial pilot license training

Former Bihar Minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who was recently expelled from the RJD by his father and founding president Lalu Prasad, has cleared the interview for initial stage of pilot training (Ab-Initio) to commercial pilot license (CPL) course. According to the list of successful candidates released by the Directorate of Aviation (Bihar government) on June 20, Mr. Yadav has secured the fifth rank among 18 candidates who cleared the interview and document verification process for the Ab-Initio to CPL course. The interview and document verification process was held between December 16, 2024 to December 18, 2024. The former Bihar minister was expelled from RJD on May 25 by his father Lalu Prasad for six years, a day after he reportedly confessed to being "in a relationship" with a woman named Anushka. He, however, deleted the facebook post later with a claim that his page was "hacked". Lalu Prasad also disowned Tej Pratap due to his "irresponsible behaviour". The post had created a huge controversy and Mr. Yadav's estranged wife Aishwarya alleged before the media that her in-laws had "ruined" her life by getting her married to him despite his being in a relationship with another woman since much before their wedding in 2018. A few days later after his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap Yadav had alleged that there was a "conspiracy" to drive a wedge between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav. He had voiced his sentiments in a couple of posts on his X handle, blaming the crisis on 'Jaichand' a metaphor for traitors. Using the Mahabharata imagery, which he has been employing to describe his relationship with his far more successful younger brother, Mr. Yadav had written, "Those dreaming of a rift between me and Arjun, will never succeed in conspiracy. They can win over the military of Krishna, but can't capture Krishna himself. I will soon expose every such conspiracy." Without mentioning Tejashwi Yadav by name, he added, "My brother, I would ask you to have faith that I am with you in all circumstances. My blessings were with you and will be so always. Please take care of Mummy and Papa, Jaichand is outside as well as within. His expulsion came barely a few months ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls, which the RJD will fight under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav. Born to Prasad and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers of Bihar, the two brothers are among four of nine siblings active in politics. Tej Pratap Yadav made his political debut in the assembly polls of 2015 and is a second-term MLA with two brief stints in the state cabinet.

Wings clipped in family and party, Tej Pratap on course to become a commercial pilot

Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has been provisionally selected for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course at the Bihar Flying Institute, according to a circular issued by the state's Directorate of Aviation Training. He had appeared for the interview for admission to the CPL course during the 2023-24 academic session, as part of the selection process conducted by the Bihar Directorate of Aviation Training. However, the release of the results was delayed due to ongoing litigation related to reservation provisions. Following a court order, the final merit list was published on June 20, making him eligible for formal admission to the course. Tej Pratap's selection comes over a month after he made headlines for publicly expressing his willingness to serve the country as a pilot in the wake of Operation Sindoor. It also comes weeks after former chief minister Lalu Prasad announced his son's expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and 'from the family', citing 'irresponsible behaviour' and actions not in line with the family's values and traditions. On May 7, as the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK, Tej Pratap posted on social media: 'If my pilot training can be of use to the nation, I, Tej Pratap Yadav, am always ready to serve the country. For your information, I have received pilot training, and if I lose my life for the country, I would consider myself fortunate. Jai Hind!' Along with the post, he had also shared pictures of his flight radio telephone operator's licence. Two days later, he made another post addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Honourable Prime Minister, Vande Mataram. In this situation of crisis, all countrymen are together. I, Tej Pratap Yadav, son of Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, resident of Patna, Bihar, am also capable of fulfilling my responsibilities as an aircraft pilot. I have a strong desire to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our security forces at the border and thwart the evil intentions of our enemies. I request you to give citizens like me the opportunity to serve Mother India. If my life is lost in protecting the country and its citizens, I would consider myself fortunate.' The posts had created a flurry on social media, with many pointing out that he did not have the required qualifications to be a pilot at the time. However, it was another social media post that saw Tej Pratap expelled from not just his party, but also his family. On May 25, RJD chief Lalu Prasad said in a post on X, 'Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. My eldest son's activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behaviour are not in accordance with our family values and traditions…' This came a day after a post was shared on Tej Pratap's Facebook profile that showed him with a woman. The caption claimed the two had been in a relationship for 12 years. The post was later deleted, and he claimed his social media profiles had been hacked. A day before his selection to the CPL course, on June 19, Tej Pratap posted a cryptic message on social media, hinting at personal and political betrayals and vowing to reveal the truth, saying, 'Those who mistake my silence for weakness, do not think that I am unaware of your conspiracies. You started it, I will end it. I am going to break this web of lies and deceit. Be ready, the truth will come out. My role will be decided by my beloved people and the Hon'ble Supreme Court, not by any party or family.'
